I feel like I didn't get much instruction on my pre-op diet either. The NUT went over the things that the shake you chose needs to have, strongly recommended Boost, which is awful and I refuse. My surgeon said that I should be taking in 1,500 calories a day so take the calorie count on the shake and divide 1500 with it and 'bam, that's your diet'. Seems so different than what others are doing. So confusing and strange there isn't more of a standardized diet among bariatric surgeons.

My Weight Loss Journey
Today, I’m 51 pounds lighter than I was when I started my weight loss journey in the beginning of 2016.
My story is not an instant overnight success. I did take so called magic diet pills and they did not work, try all the fad diets and achieved temporary results. After six years of up and down weigh lost and gain, I decided in March of 2016 to have Bariatric Surgery (the Sleeve). The best birthday gift I could have given myself (life). March was the beginning of this new exciting journey and in the process I changed my expected results and goals from a quick fix, and focus on healthy eating, working out, and dedication to using the tool that I have been given.
To sum it up, my weight loss journey over the last six years has been more like a never-ending roller coaster ride. Full of emotions, fad diets, diet pills, mistakes, inconsistencies, fail follow-through, pitfalls, and self-sabotage. Finally, I have reached a small milestone of success, a willingness to committee, and determination, which will eventually fulfil my weight loss goal. I am very happy that I made the decision to live. #healthy lifestyle #tone-body #an improved version of me #healthy mentally and spiritually.

kblanc reacted to BobScott in I have a question
When I got home from the hospital, and the pain was still a big part of my day, I looked at my situation and realized that my life needed to be different. I was initially embarrassed that I couldn't do it on my own and needed the surgery, and this embarrassment was motivation to not squander this opportunity to hit the "Reset Button" on my habits.
I never have looked to be able to re-introduce bad foods, but instead I have looked for replacement foods, and activities.
This is the new Football Sunday spread. Lol.
Once I started losing the weight, I fell in love with the new "superpower" of a small stomach! I never wanted to have the craving monster come back in my life, so I have convinced myself that my addiction to crap needed to be treated as the disease it is. So I have sworn off of all trigger foods, and basically anything non-healthy. No breads, candy, Pasta, etc.
I have never heard of an alcoholic program that has a goal of reintroducing social drinking.. lol. So why does our program have the final goal of being able to eat some of the foods that put us in trouble in the first place?
Once you can find your "feel good" foods, things get much easier. For me it was home made Soups, yogurts, Fish, pickles, and almonds. Once you decide to eat to live and not live to eat, it just gets easier.
One day at a time, the future is so bright!
Surgery was Feb23rd this year... I was 381 and now 214 as of this morning. Down 167lbs

kblanc reacted to Djmohr in 5 Days Post Op and feeling Regretful
Here's the deal....the first several months is rough. That is a reality but I promise it does get better every day.
My surgeon had me stop my Vitamins 2 days before and did not start me on them again until i was 30 days post op. Every surgeon is different.
Just take it one day at a time and focus on liquids. If you dont get enough, that it itself can make you feel miserable.

Beware of buying to much Protein Drink ahead, I speak with the truth your taste might change after your WLS. I would really hate to know how much I have spent in my 3 years for Protein stuff to just give it away. I'm lucky because my Grandkids think if NANA eats it it is GREAT!! LOL I also have a nephew that does Protein to be heealthy so he got quite a bit too.
