Small NSV -- But I'll take it!

That's a big NSV to me! Congrats.

    Have disappointed your fans?

A bit. And that is also what I was kind of afraid of. People asking me all the time about how much weight I have lost and being disappointed if it wasn't enough. That's a great reason for NOT telling people you are banded! But it's too late now. I've told people.

    Need advice from experienced bandsters

Thanks a million. I'm still a baby at this. I also think I don't chew enough, which was a problem even before I got the band. You are right that stewed meats work pretty well. I will concentrate on stewed meats, fish (which has worked pretty well), fruits and veggies. It's funny that I can't eat a piece of bread but I can eat raw veggies with no problem. O f course that's a good thing!
  4. I was banded the end of February and had one fill in April. 1.2 cc in a 4cc band. If I eat certain foods like bread or things not chewed well they stick right away and cause lots of pain and I have PB'd several times. BUT...if I eat soft foods like cottage cheese, yogurt, soup, refried beans, etc I can eat a LOT! They don't stay in my pouch at all and run right through. I went to Mexican restaurant and easily ate a whole chili relleno, refried beans, rice (which I try to avoid), and chips and salsa. No problem. But it seems like it should be a problem! I read about people who eat 3-4 bites and they are full. Not me! Do I need another fill? I'm not that experienced yet so please give me your advice.

    Where to put the port?

Mine is on the left side of my lower abdomen. I don't notice it unless one of the kids jumps on me or if I am lifting something and set it on the port.

    In tears and scared

If you can get your insurance to pay for it, go that route. Why? - They will pay for complications and they may not if you get it done in Mexico. - You are likely to have your fills covered, and they might not be if you get it done in Mexico. - Even if your Mexico doc covers fills after the surgery, you still have to get to Mexico to get them done. - If you have an immediate need you have a doc to go to. I don't. - They likely have a support group or other ways of supporting you. While on-line is nice, it isn't the same as having a live person to talk to.

Lap Band ladies....does this make you hate your boobs??

Oh please let my boo boo's get smaller! If they get too small you can always get a boob job. I wouldn't worry.

    Feeling to full!!!

I know what you mean. We've all gone through so much to get this far. It is a huge step to get the band and after going to the extreme of surgery no one wants to mess it up! You didn't stretch anything. Just go slow. Are you sure you're supposed to be having fiber??

    Port Pain?

Oh yes. That describes me. And it is still tender at 3 months out. If one of my kids sits on my wrong or I bend wrong I definately feel it.

    Well...I did it...

My tummy was growling too. It can be gas. Or keep in mind that in a way you have 2 stomachs now and the gas has to pass between both of them before getting where it is going. I also had a lot of hunger pangs after my surgery. Oh, and congrats!

    Send me your prayers...

I have been struggling for about a month now. I have been eating fatty foods and a lot os sweets. I have been under a lot of pressure and have had a hard time coping. And for the first time I am having a LOT of head hunger. I'm eating chips, cookies, nachos, cookies, icecream, cookies, cakes, cookies and cookies too. And I've been PBing a lot more than ususal. I feel sick tonight from all the sugar I have eaten. And I feel guilty. I have only been able to work out once this week and now I have gained 2 pounds. I'm not doing well. I think I need another fill, but I do'nt have the $$ right now. Pray that God will give me strength to overcome my head hunger. Tomorrow is always a new day, right?? :hurt :pout: :noidea: :cake: :funscale:

    Send me your prayers...

Thanks so much. I've been a good girl today. I also think I need a fill.
  14. I know how you feel. Some people are like that in all aspects of their lives and it's not just because they have been overweight. BUT....you already know it is going to happen so practice saying "Thank you" in the mirror. And if they ask how you did it, just say "Eat less, exercise more" which is the truth. Then change the subject.

    NSV for me!

That is awesome! Who cares what the scale says when you are shrinking so much! That makes me motivated.
  16. fiveholts714

    Haha, kinda funny NSV

    Isn't that wonderful??? What's a spencer?

    The MOST Embarrassing PB ever!!!

Man, that's bad! I pb'd into my tossed salad lid in a restaurant the other day. Luckily I was sitting with my 2 friends and they kept on talking like nothing had happened and totally ignored my situation since I had it under control.

    Embarrassing NSV

Boy that's funny! It's a good NSV, really it is!
  19. My doc in Mexico was good. It's not fair to say that they all dont care.

    Going Alone

I thought I posted on this but maybe I didn't! I went along and it was a big mistake. I used a different surgeon, so maybe my experience was different. The hospital staff was nice and so was the doc, but you need family there. I never saw another lapband patient (or any other patient) and didn't talk to anyone to was going through my experience while I was there. So you can't count on that. My return flight was oversold and I was diverted to Mexico City and had to take 2 airlines to get home - and I don't speak Spanish. It was a nightmare. If I had someone with me, ti would have been much better. I was in agony and seriously dehydrated. Don't go alone.

    Lap Band Deaths...

take your daughter with you to see the surgeon so she really understands what is going on. You don't want her to be terrified. That's not very fair. You're a good mom for considering her feelings. Many wouldn't.

    Has Anyone completed their Journey

I think that people who have reached their goals generally don't need boards like this so they aren't represented. The ones who need to support are the ones in mid-battle! Good luck.

Dear God, Plz hlp my Reeces addiction

We all have certain foods that seem almost impossible to give up. For me it is melted cheese on anything. The only thing to do is avoid it altogether. Don't look at it at the grocery store, don't buy it for your kids. Cold Turkey is the only way to go. Good luck.

    Itchey stitches and a rash

Welcome to bandster land. Sorry about the rash. Sometimes when they cleanse areas of the skin at the hospital some of the cleanser runs under the band and if it isn't rinsed off you can get a rash or irritation.
