I'm the same with the denser Protein foods. I can only have so much which is great. Tonight I had a little rissole and a stalk of broccoli with a cheese sauce and I'm done .... but I could eat more I think if I really wanted to lol
Chips and biscuits are he same for me too. I can't have them around me as I know they are a slippery slop for disaster and I can eat heaps .
If I over eat on sugary stuff or icecream I get nauseous quick. But I don't seem to learn as the next time I do it again.
Foos addiction and little self control make it a little harder.
I go really well for days and then slide a bit and so on..
If I've planned my lunch for the day I seem to go well but when I get home I sometimes slip into old habits.
My exercising isn't too bad . At the gym 3-4 days a week and do weights with some cardio. I also walk the dog but this can be spasmodic. Some Days I can't be bothered and find an excuse not to exercise lol.. I don't have a set finish time at work so it makes it hard having to do the cooking etc. as I said excuses !!.. [emoji52]
After my op I feel Iike I've changed mentally as I have apathetic feelings and anger can be an issue. It's bizarre tbh cause it happened so quick after the op. The surgeon and my dr have no clue as to why but "depression" has come up. The ability of being able to laugh and feel the good feelings has gone unfortunately. I find things funny but have a forced laugh ( weird I know lol)
Over all I feel ok. I'm still on hypothyroid meds and bp meds but lowered dose...
I do like the size I am but hate my tummy area lol.. 3 c sections and being overweight will do that to u lol.
You sound like your going great guns [emoji1320] ... and all the power to you.
U have made some great achievements... well done

It's a life time change and I do want to get it under control while I'm still in the honey moon period lol ..

vantucky reacted to joatsaint in 2 yrs...gained back 16lbs
I'm 3 years out and gained back 15lbs since March. I'm struggling to lose the weight too.
There are 3 things that have worked for me in the last 3 weeks.
    1) watch my portion size, go back to using my old bowls and plates - that way I know how much I'm eating.
    2) stop eating when I'm satisfied and not over full. Frankensleeve lets me know when hes too full, but I've gotten back into the "clean your plate" club. I've decided, I'd rather put less food on my plate, rather than have too much and feel the need to finish it all.
    3) reduce/eliminate sugar, high glycemic vegetables/fruit, processed/canned/frozen foods and meals. I'm cooking as much of my food as possible and eating things "that are the ingredients for other things". :-)
My primary diet is pretty simple - roasted/crock pot pork or chicken, vegetables (brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower), high Protein bars, limited fruit (at most 2 of these per day - apples, pears, plums...), and nuts (less than 20 per day - almonds, pecans, ...no peanuts)
I have up to 3 cheat meals per week - Tuesday/Friday/Sat night. I don't go crazy, but I do eat a few more of the "bad for me" foods.
So far it's working. I've lost 5 lbs in 3 weeks.

You weighed yourself after eating?? That can be Water and food. I weigh myself first thing in the morning after I have eliminated. Weighing at any other time of the day or night does not count.

vantucky reacted to Camella in Help I'm gaining! How did you change your relationship with food?
I am two years post op and I feel a lot of shame when it comes to my weight gain since surgery. I feel like I have failed and that once again food is winning and my waist line is losing. After weight loss surgery gaining weight is quite terrifying. I feel like I am slipping down a rabbit whole and the other side is all too familiar. There isn’t a single person that has weight loss surgery that doesn’t promise themselves that this will NEVER happen again, and for some of us it does happen. I suppose for me the first thing I need to do is stop punishing myself because that has never helped me gain control of my eating, the second thing is to take stock of why it has happened. For me that is very simple, I didn’t work on my head, I only worked on my body, I didn’t unfriend my toxic friend food! We are still in a dysfunctional relationship. The surgery limited my food intake, but it didn’t equip me with new coping mechanisms and unfortunately food still plays an important role in helping me relax, sooths me when I’m down, occupies me when I’m bored and helps me hide from the world when I don’t want to be seen.
I have gained 15lbs since my surgery 2 years ago and some may even say that’s normal, but I know my eating is out of control.
I have gained 10 lbs. in the last two months. For those of you that have been post –surgery for a long time, and have successfully maintained, how did you fix your head and your relationship with food?

Better and worse than I thought. Recovery was no BS, but hardest part was not being able to get around and relying on others. First two weeks were rough but truly no pain when I was sitting still; and just really uncomfortable when I had to get up. After that just bored being laid up so long, that was worse than I expected. Went back to excercise walking at 5.5 weeks. A few tips
    1. I rented a recliner that stands you all the way up. This was key!!!! I lived in it for 4 weeks even slept in it.
    2. Walker, helped first week and half just for extra security when I was moving.
    3. A raised toilet seat helped first week and half.
    4. Shower seat of course makes for safer first showers
Overall I NEVER had even one moment of regret. I'd do it again in a heart beat.

It sounds like you are doing well and have made decisions that are good for you. I am happy for you.. not sure if I'll ever afford $11,000 for the procedure...

vantucky reacted to mylighthouse in Over 4 Months Post Op: Severe Constipation and Pain
    Hello,
I made a post a few weeks ago about having nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and Constipation. Had some feedback on it. Since then, I have been to the ER again with those symptoms and I've also followed up with my surgeon two times, the latest being yesterday.
When I saw my surgeon yesterday, he said that my latest abdominal x-ray showed that I was still full of stool. He wanted me to go home and do an enema and drink a bottle of Magnesium Citrate (again) to cleanse me out. He told me we were going to try something new (I had been taking Miralax and Milk of Magnesia for constipation). The Miralax just wasn't doing anything for me and the MOM helps me go a little, but it still leaves me full of stool for the most part, as seen on previous x-rays. So today I will be starting a medication called Amitiza, which is for constipation and IBS. I am to take that for two weeks and then I have a follow up with my surgeon to see where we are.
I have seen posts here concerning constipation after surgery, but I have been struggling with this issue for over 4 months, and now it is worse than ever.
Has anyone had constipation that caused severe abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea besides me? How far post op were you and what did you do to get relief? Or, does anybody just have some suggestions for me in general? This problem is so debilitating that I have been in bed with a heating pad on my stomach for 3 weeks now.
Thank you for your help/advice and input in advance.

I've been stalled out for a couple of weeks but definitely feel my body changing. Clothes are starting to fit differently and that's encouraging! Still a bit low energy though...
Anybody experiencing red bumps/welts on forearms and shins? Not sure if I'm experiencing an allergic reaction or something related to dehydration/potassium levels!
Good job fellow November sleevers. Glad to see people checking in!
