Kk[I had my first dietician appointment 2 weeks ago and my first psych appointment yesterday. I see both of them again in 2 weeks and they both want me to have made a lot of the dietary changes that I'll need to make post-op by then. I was doing pretty well with weighing out portions, not drinking for 30 minutes after meals, eating foods in the correct order, chewing each bite thoroughly, setting my fork down between bites, etc. for the first week after seeing the dietician. But I didn't lose a single pound that week and it just seemed pointless. So then I had a week-long food funeral, and it was pretty bad.
Part of the problem is that I accidentally lost 4 pounds in the week between getting my paperwork in and seeing the surgeon and dietician for the first time. It pisses me off because I wanted to go in at my heaviest and not have my BMI barely be high enough. And now I'm supposed to lose about 10 pounds in the next couple of weeks and it seems impossible. It is more likely that I'll gain that 4 pounds back again, and my surgeon said absolutely no weight gain is allowed.
I'm just feeling discouraged right now. I decided to go back to Protein smoothies today instead of trying to allow myself reasonable amounts of real food. Does anyone else feel like they can do a really restrictive diet without too much trouble, but really struggle with trying to eat normally but moderately? I feel like if I have any sweets or anything made with white flour, I simply can't stop eating it.

It is completely normal to be nervous. I had my surgery on 10/5/16, and I was a complete bundle of nerves. But once you have surgery it's a whole new world. This is the first step of a brand new journey. Congratulations on your decision to become healthy.

Wow. I'm sorry that you've had that experience. As a newbie myself I understand your questions and curiosity. I was happy to find a safe place to discuss with and question others who have been through the same experiences.
So to the experienced members of this group, please take a minute to remember how scared, confused, and full of questions you may have felt directly after surgery. And maybe offer advice with kindness instead of sarcasm. One day we will be the experienced ones, but right now what we need most of all is kindness and support.
Wishing everyone success wherever you are in your journey. ????

My surgery was Oct 5th and i lost 12 pounds the first week and then stopped completely this week. I guess it's normal to have stalling periods, but I think Constipation is the problem. Best of luck to you on your journey.

Great. Down 12 pounds in the first week and then stopped completely but I think if I could go, it might help. LOL
Planning on returning to work Monday.

I was sleeved 10/5 and other than some pain with one incision, things have been going great. I am down 12 pounds, and preparing to return to work Monday 10/17. Once I return to solid foods, what can i expect as far as weight loss per week? My starting weight was 337, day of surgery weight 314 and current weight 302.
The future looks bright!

My surgery was yesterday morning, and i am so excted for my future! Overall recovery hasn't been terrible. One of my incisions is very sore. The other incisions dont bother me at all.
Thank you all for allowing me to share my story with other people going through the same thing as I am.

Great job! I am also a little over 1 month post op. How much have you lost since surgery? I feel like I am going much slower than everyone else
