    Sleeve Over Lap Band?

And apparently I found myself in the men chat by clicking on recent posts instead of going the long way to topics. Sorry! Story of my life lol.

    Sleeve Over Lap Band?

I was originally set on getting the Lap Band until I found this community. I read a lot of horror stories about the Lap Band and so many cases of people getting the Lap Band and eventually having to get the sleeve. I know there are plenty of success stores for the Lap Band but I am so unlucky in life that I knew I would be one of the cases where the Lap Band failed haha. There are pros and cons with both but this community really helped me to get various views on both surgery types. I opted for the sleeve at the end of the day.

I'm at about a two week stall right now which is taking place right after surgery. Hopefully it turns around for both of us soon .

    Thinking Ahead

Three weeks might be pushing it with such a demanding job. I had surgery on November 22nd and convinced myself that I would be going back in two weeks. However, it wasn't even an option because I had complications. I am crossing my fingers now that my doctor will allow me to go back to my non-demanding (I sit down at work) job when I go to my next appointment on December 23rd. I know it will vary based on the person, success of surgery, and everyone feels different afterwards. My advice would be to be prepared for the possibility that you may need more time off. At a minimum you may have some restrictions when you go back. I wish you all of the luck!

    Sodas

I was NEVER a water drinker and basically only drank soda. However, I turned that around in August which was enough time before my November sleeve surgery to get on track. I hated water my entire life and now I love it! Push yourself with water and hopefully it will turn out as good for you as it did for me. I can't imagine going back to soda at this point and leaving behind my water. Good luck to you on your journey and with surgery.
  7. Hello Everyone, I had surgery on 11/22 and I've had nothing but problems. Long story short, the surgeon put my sleeve too tight which they saw with the GI test the morning after surgery. I lost about 17 pounds between 11/22 and 11/30. Now I am up almost 3 pounds since 11/30. I'm getting down with the pain and the headache that I've dealt with because of the complication. Now that I am drastically better and the complications have lowered, I just can't get on track. I went from eating basically nothing between 11/22-11/30 to "cheating" and eating real food right now. I am still supposed to be on a liquid diet but I'm eating eating solids. I've eaten a pancake, Soup, a cookie, and I'm getting so frustrated! I know that it's my own fault but I just don't know what to eat! Protein shakes taste disgusting to me and I have hunger pains! What can I do? Help . I do not want to fail at this and cannot fail!

    Air Fryer

We've owned an air fryer for about 6 months and my entire family agrees that it was my best purchase ever! We use it everyday and have never put oil in it. My son eats chicken/fries in it often and I've never even used oil for that. I can't wait to be on solids so that I can cook chicken breast in it. I would highly recommend one. The food cooks fast and comes out delicious! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Weight gain...getting depressed :(

I just purchased unjury unflavored protein this evening. I'm crossing my fingers that I can stomach it and that it's truly unflavored. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App The unflavored nectar is tasteless to me. I put it in chicken broth. Weight gain...getting depressed :(

Thank you. I need to stop stepping on the scale everyday and eat the right things. I think I'll start that effective now. I will not step on the scale for a week! I'm driving myself crazy doing it everyday.

    Weight gain...getting depressed :(

I need to remember sugar free Popsicles more. I know that I'm not getting enough food in and what I'm putting in my body isn't the right food so I think you're dead on about the starvation mode. I need to get on track and today is a new day! I'm focusing today and going forward on putting the right things in my body. I'm getting nervous about my month follow-up surgery visit on the 22nd and having weight gain. I can't let that happen because of my poor decisions.

How long were you in the hospital

I was there for four days.
  15. My surgery is approved and I am scheduled for November 22nd! I couldn't be happier! I thought I would share the news and my steps that it took to get here. While I only signed up on Bariatric Pal recently, I have read along to many of your stories since May. It's nice to hear the steps to the process and I know it helped me so here goes my process so far . My journey started on May 25th, my file was submitted to insurance on October 31st, I was approved by Cigna on November 4th, and my surgery is now scheduled for November 22nd. May 25th=Attended seminar, heard from the surgeon, and learned about the different types of bariatric surgery. June=Had my first appointment with the surgeon where we discussed my background, family history, and what type of surgery I was interested in. August 3rd=Psychologist visit where we discussed what type of support I have for the surgery, my background, and my feelings towards the surgery. August 3rd, September 2nd, & October 7th=Monthly dietitian visits. We would go over my food log for the month, any questions that I might have had, and discuss my progress. July, August, September, October=Monthly appointments with my primary doctor where we discussed what I am doing to lose weight. November 11th=Pre-surgery testing including an upper GI test, chest x-rays, EKG, and blood work. November 11th=Pre-surgery dietitian visit where we discussed what I will be eating post-surgery.
  16. I am not doing well since my November 22nd sleeve. I was in the hospital four days and had complications. The surgeon put my sleeve too tight which was determined during my GI test the day after surgery. Liquid enters my stomach but takes a long time to exit and at a very small stream. I was told another surgery was an option or holding it out and wait for swelling to go down which could help. While in the hospital I had maybe 3 ounces of apple juice each day which was forced. I'm home now without any pain medication and it is a struggle. I'll be on clear liquids at least two weeks. I'd estimate that I'm driving maybe 10 ounces of liquid per day for the last 48 hours. I'm really getting concerned for when I will be able to drink more. It's hard to take in anything at this point because the stomach flips are so bad. My SW was 300.1, day of surgery 286.4, and today I am 274.2. I'm very surprised to be down 12.2 pounds since surgery Tuesday. I was told in the hospital to not be surprised if I go home and get on the scale to gain ten pounds. I know I haven't been eating but they gave me a lot more iv fluids because of my tight sleeve. That's my update as of now. Definitely a struggle and taking it day by day! Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  17. What a mess! I've been nauseous 24/7 and even failed the GI test the morning after surgery. I was told my sleeve is very tight to where liquid is barely passing out of it. This pain is worse than my c-sections! The doctor wants me to be on Clear liquids for an extended period to see if swelling goes down to where liquid can pass. However, I can't even drink any of my clear liquids. The smallest sip makes my stomach flip and causes more nausea. Worst experience of my life . Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
  18. Congrats to all of you having surgery along with me tomorrow (and any other day)!!
