    Young and hungry

Congratulations on the decision that will guide the next great chapter of your life! Hunger will be completely different after surgery so don't worry about that aspect too much right now. During the liquid stage you may feel some hunger (depending on the person) but it's not that bad to where you will be pulling your hair out for that good food by you, haha. Once you get to the solid stage you should be good to go. You can be a bit hungry but two bites of food and it's gone! It's the craziest thing! Good luck on your journey!

    Disappointed and pissed

I have Cigna and was approved in a matter of two or so days. My first dietitian visit was also in August and I went September and October before they sent it to insurance. I also needed three months of them based on my Cigna requirements but the dietitian's office stated that they wouldn't need 90 days but rather three months going to them and thankfully they ended up being right because I was approved. As far as medically observed visits they are likely your monthly primary care physician's appointments. Each month I had to have a dietitian visit and a visit with my doctor. Did you have these visits with your doctor each month that you saw the dietitian? I'm sorry that you are experiencing this . Hopefully the doctor's office is able to resubmit and it'll be approved.

    Methadone and weight loss surgery

My mother is on methadone for her restless leg syndrome. She was able to take it up until surgery that she had last month (we took the journey together) and only had to stop the day of surgery. The doctor approved it beginning the day after surgery and the nurses would bring her a daily pill. All surgeons are different though so just make sure to ask.

    Required Vitamins

I actually just bought them from the Bariatric Pal store and they delivered yesterday. However, I had my one month post op dietician visit on Wednesday and I asked her if I can use them and she immediately said no . She said oral Vitamins is what everyone should be on and the Patches aren't good. I would recommend asking your dietician or doctor. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Terrible Headaches

I had some bad headaches immediately after surgery. Putting ice packs on my head really helped me!

    Scales are not moving!

I began a stall day 8 after surgery that lasted about two weeks. It's definitely not fun but I kept doing the right things and now I'm down 3 pounds in the last 6 days so my stall finally ended.

    Support from family and friends

I am on this journey with my mother. I had surgery on 11/22 and she had it on 11/29. All of our surgeon visits, primary doctor visits, dietitian visits, and everything along the way were scheduled at the same time so we 100% did the journey together and we still are. I am thankful for the support system that I have within my mother. I feel fortunate that everyone has been supportive on my journey. The only push-back that I have gotten on my journey has been my supervisor telling me daily for the couple weeks leading up to surgery to have the surgeon cut out way less than 80-90% of my stomach because I was making him nervous lol. All in good fun . My family, co-workers, and friends all see the benefits of the surgery and are all extremely supportive.

Tomorrow is the day. Soooo nervous.

Good luck to you! I would suggest picking up a bag of ice if you don't already have an ice maker at home. I constantly used the small ice that comes in a bag to put ice on my incisions for a good 10 days after surgery. The hospital gave me a few of those great bags that hold ice, keeps it frozen for hours, and it's not too cold on your skin. I would ask for a few bags from them . I also got quite a few headaches so it was nice to put some ice on my head.

    What if? Really worried...

If you met all your requirements and it has been submitted to insurance already, I would suggest staying on the insurance company to get your approval. I called twice a day and also did an online chat once a day. My three contacts a day seemed to pay off because each time I contacted them they placed a new note to bump mine to the top. I received my approval in I believe two days with Cigna. Sure, they could have lied to me about the note thing lol but it seems that my constant contact helped.
  18. Hello everyone, I'm just curious if anyone has any idea on how long I should wait to go in a public swimming pool after surgery. I want to keep my incisions safe . Thanks!

How long to wait to go in a swimming pool?

Thanks everyone. I plan on asking at my next appointment but was just curious to hear what kind of time I'm facing . Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App

    Unjury Protein

Hello all, I am about three weeks post-op and I cannot get my Protein in. I've had a rough couple of weeks but I ordered powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury protein. I hate milk and shakes which I'm sure is where my struggle has been. I used almond milk with my protein after surgery but I just couldn't stomach it. My unflavored Unjury protein should deliver on Wednesday and I'm anxious at the outcome. Any feedback on it? The texture? Can I really mix it with Crystal Light and I won't taste it? Any other suggestions of a brand that I can mix with Crystal Light?? Thanks!

    Thinking Ahead

I definitely went through the stage after surgery of regretting it and thinking it was the biggest mistake of my life. Each day gets easier though and I just keep thinking about the end result!

    Thinking Ahead

When I had my GI test the morning after surgery they could see the liquid that I drank go into my stomach but it took a very long time to exit. Essentially it was too tight for liquid to pass and I had two options. One, have a second surgery or two, wait for the swelling to go down which should fix the complication. I am about three weeks out and still have a very hard time swallowing and getting liquid down. I did have a scope procedure last week where they opened everything up some so I'm just patiently waiting for it to get easier .

    Unjury Protein

I have been considering also trying the Syntrax Nectar. I actually have it in my shopping cart in the store for Bariatric Pal as we speak lol. The only reason that I haven't ordered is because I don't know what flavor to try lol.

    I'm starving

It is possible that your sleeve is too tight because that's what happened to me. I had the GI test the morning after surgery and immediately the doctor said it was tight. The liquid went in and we all watched as it never came out. Eventually the liquid did come out but it took an abnormal amount of time. I had a scope procedure done so that they could open up everything but that was two weeks after surgery. I can relate to the restriction but I can tell you that if your sleeve has a small complication like mine, it will pass. As the swelling goes down it will naturally get better. Hang in there and hopefully it passes soon for you!
