Problem after problem.
Mamabear0003, i have not had surgery yet and as some of the other posters have stated we dont get to hear to many of these stories. I am glad you shared yours with us to many times i get caught up in all the postives this surgery provides, that sometimes i forget about the negative outcomes that could happen. This is a huge reminder that this surgery is not to be taken lightly. Although i dont have any advice for you i can offer a part of my daily prayers which will be set aside for you and your family. Please keep fighting for yourself and family maybe your body has gone through so much trauma that it needs time to heal within. With our prayers maybe we can help god bless you and your family.???? I need a MUCH better fig leaf!
I dont know what they are called but i think they are the same as what the ladies are talking about. The briefs that look like shorts, only they hug your legs and waist. The ones with a thicker band seem to be a better quality. Or at least the feel that way.???? Please stay away from the white ones. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

Losing yourself literally
Okay so i have not had surgery yet and like alot of people here i am having it for health reasons. However i have to be honest with my self i am curious as to what ill look like. About three years back i was diagnosed with graves and hashimotos disease. Which caused me to lose 80 pounds now i am a big girl so that was a drop in the bucket for me however people did notice it in my face. They would make a comment along the lines of you look prettier with a fuller face. I actually heard it often. Now that i am waiting for my surgery i have to admit that even though i am doing it for health i cant help but wonder if i will lose my character. I see the before and after pics of all you losers and of course everyone looks great and i hear about all the gained confidence and what not but im wondering how many of you feel like you lost some of yourself? Like going from a kind face to a more stern look. Or being told you have a bubbly personality to not. Did your wls surgery success come with a price? Sorry just thinking???? Sgc why not you! Sounds like she is into you. She drew you a picture like literally drew you a picture i take that as flirting. She probably seen you on e harmony too and decided to go for it. However i am not there i cant see the glances and the smiles some share when there is a connection. Why dont you test the waters before the play and see where things are at? Invite her out for a coffee date or even lunch or dinner. What did she draw for you if you dont mind sharing? Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

Today, I am wondering what I have done to myself
Agirlhasnofluff Omg i have to admit your post scared the sh!t out of me then i read porkchopexpress and that eased my nerves lol some. However i do have some questions for you since i am going to have the same procedure (maybe) and it seems like not to many people on here have opted for this one. So forgive me if i bug you but when you say 8000 times a day really about how much do you go and is it alot that comes out? Does it have an overly foul oder as i seen some say that have posted about their surgeries. Also does it hurt to go potty after surgery? Sorry not trying to be nasty just seems to be the right place to ask.Why the biopsy on your liver is that part of the procedure? Plus what is your starting weight and bmi mine is 391 bmi 53. Im on a cell phone and cannot see it if you have a ticker. Porkchopexpress i like your new picture you look slimmer already. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

Help I went in for my initial consultation and wanted the Gastric Sleeve the doctor suggested the Duodenal switch surgery
Bigjohn58, here is what my doctor told me. Keep in mind i have not had surgery yet nor have i been approved through insurance yet still waiting. My BMI is 56 i am 391 pounds. He showed me all the surgeries that he performs and he explained each one. Pros and Cons. He gave me percentages of the amount of weight expected to lose in a year (of course every person is different). He also said he was not going to choose for me he let me choose. I went with the biliopancreatic diversion with the duodenal switch. He said perfect that is the one i was going to recommend. I asked him why he explained that this surgery was more invasive than the others, however it has a higher rate of weight loss.Plus it helps you more with keeping your weight maintained because of the malabsorption, It does take the diabetes away. He told me that it may or may not help with gerd but giving my other health issues gerd is not what he was worried about. I must admit i"m a little concerned about it. I am not promoting this surgery what so ever all i am giving you is what i was told. He also said that it is not the old DS its a newer one that does not have the same issues as the old one with the constant going to restroom, with this one they are sparing the pyloric valve which helps rid the diabetes and helps with the dumping. Now from reading articles and other information i did hear that your stool were going to be more smelly, and you will need to take a lot more Vitamins that with a sleeve. I have never had surgery before and was at one time completely against surgery but my life went wonky this last year that i had to make a change hopefully for the best. I am scared to death but from doing some reading even when things do not go as planned most of the folks are repeating the same thing, that they would do it all over again. The way i see things i am either going to lose my life on that table or in a couple of years if i continue down this path. My one true fear is being left mangled but that will be the risk i am willing to take in order to take control of this life of mine. One of the ladies that has inspired me a great deal is Princess Monster Truck on you tube she had the same procedure i hope to be having (because i may be denied) she was also the one that told me about this site. Please check it out and make up your own mind and of course get as many opinions as you need to put your mind at ease and be okay with your surgery. Also there is a ds forum on this site you could ask about it or just read the many experiences that people have had with it too. Good Luck to ya

Failed completely. Deeply ashamed.
Meyouus, as for the exercising i also have severe knee injuries so i find on you tube exercises i can do while sitting or even exercises for the elderly will help. Something to get your body moving. I also lost my pops to a stroke he suffered for a year and i ate right along with him. When he passed i mourned by eating its around this time i hurt my knees. I was getting to where i could not walk thats when i said enough is enough i will not lose myself to self pity anymore time for change. All my excuses for this that or the other was just that excuses. Once i started figuring out well if i do this i can do that and if i stop buying that i can get this. So far i have quit the soda habit, the smoking habit , next thing im tackling is the eating habit. Enough is enough time for me to be happy. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App
