I started the pre op diet he has me on protein shakes, broth, jello, for ten day then all clear liquids for 4 days is the normal

A lot of surgeons do a two week liquid diet to 1) help shrink the size of your liver and 2) to help you lose a little more before surgery because the less you weigh at time of surgery, the less risky your surgery is. Also, you'll be on a liquid diet after surgery, too, so this helps you conquer the mental battle of waking up from surgery and suddenly not being able to have solids anymore. Good luck, you can do it!!

First day of pre-op liquid diet

Met with my surgeon today for a "meet & greet." Essentially the first and only time I'll see him before surgery day. He was super forward about my obesity problem. His words? "If there was a famine, you would absolutely survive the longest." HA! there's one i have never heard before!
