    Busy days question

I'm scheduled for surgery in March also. I have a wicked busy schedule but force myself to prep. If it is a truly busy day I'll make sure I have a Protein shake with me and some good high-protein Snacks (greek yogurt, sargento balanced breaks, cold cuts, or a Protein Bar as a last resort). If I need to stop out and about I love the new egg white bites from Starbucks, or I'll grab some cheese and nuts from 7-11. I also make sure I drink a boatload (3500 mL) of Water during the day. Noob here....

Depends on your insurance requirements. I had to do a 6 month supervised diet along with multiple medical clearances. My consult was August 2016 and I'm looking at March 8, 2017 for surgery.

    Weigh ins---- HELP

I have BCBS NY and my first weight at the consultation doesn't count. So I need to step on the scale a total of 7 times. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I have to do 7 appts pre-op with the surgeon. So far I've seen Cardio 3 times, Pulmonology twice, had 2 sleep studies (with and without cpap), and will see my endocrinologist once, will have my endoscopy along with nut and psych on 01/27. I'll also see my primary once more before we submit to insurance in February. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App A THREE MONTH PERIOD?! I have the Mirena and am seeing my gyn on 01/04 and must ask her about all these hormonal changes I've been hearing about. Before reading this thread I had no idea it wad even an issue. I am so thankful for this thread and all the "insider" information.
  8. In the beginning just my wife and a friend from work knew. Now it has gotten out to a few more people at work since I told the Nurse Manager that I need a month off after surgery. Also, my mom asked me outright and I had to tell her. Eh, I just don't want to deal with all the nay-sayers and the unwanted advice. A few are supportive but I frequently get the "Are you SURE you want to do surgery? You're already doing so well on your own." That one really pushes my buttons and drives me INSANE. Or the whole "why are you taking the easy way out?" Yes, I've already lost 42lbs but I started at 361 and am currently 319 at 5'6". I still have a long way to go. And as far as the easy way out.. yeah getting sliced open, being on a liquid diet, having to re-learn eating and re-structure your relationship with food AND deal with nay-sayers and lack of support.. yeah that's the real easy way out Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Back to work/school?

I'm also in Nursing school and only plan to take a week off. I'm doing my surgery the first day of Spring Break (03/13/2017). But, I'm taking a month off of work afterwards as I am a tech in an ER. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Premier Protein shakes

I get vanilla, chocolate and strawberry at costco. I have found a four pack of banana at walmart! I love them (except strawberry, wayyy to sweet for me). I also use the instant decaf coffee in the vanilla. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I work in a super busy ER as a tech and plan on taking off only two weeks which my surgeon has ok'd. An RN coworker of mine took a month off and said that she could have come back in about 3 but enjoyed the extra week off. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Just starting

I'm on Long Island and I'm on month 3 of my 6 month required diet, so I'm also just starting out! Going to be switching surgeons next month because of insurance out of pocket issues. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Inspire Protein?

I have tried the pumpkin one and the blueberry cheesecake one. I am pre-op and find the shakes to be SUPER thick and frothy. I like the pumpkin one once and a while when I am craving a dessert and the blueberry one tastes like straight up sour cheese. If you make it with Water it is much thinner, but the taste completely changes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I'll be staying two nights after my surgery and wasn't planning on bringing much besides underwear, toothbrush/toothpaste, a pair of comfy pajamas and chapstick. One less thing to worry about the day of. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Probiotics Pre-Op

I have started taking a gummy probiotic daily (with fiber) and I have to say I love it. So I'm now taking vit D and B12, a Multivitamin, Iron, and fish oil. Thinking of adding Biotin into the mix. But since the probiotics I am super regular and with my change to a high protein/low carb diet I was getting pretty constipated. So I highly recommend them. 17. Sayville, NY here. I'm using Dr. Buchin with Huntington Hospital. I'm 2 months into my 6 month supervised diet. Will have surgery (if I get approval) on 3/13/17. I was already given a date because of school! I've heard great things about Dr. Atwa! His associate Dr. Visswinkel did my gallbladder and that whole office was great!
