  1. I had asked the nutrition people with my doctor and they said pickle juice was ok. Since the objective was ketosis the pickle juice wasn't interfering with that. Sent from the BariatricPal App

    What's everyone's weightless so far?

I was 347 when this began at my surgeon's office in May. I was 321 on the same scale 1 week pre op. Today was 1 week post op and I am 303. Target for me is 240. 6'6"tall. Sent from the BariatricPal App

    Any RN's on here?

I am an RN, but I just got my bypass. I am wondering how I will get enough Water during my shift. The manager keeps making us put our water in a back cubby where it is largely inaccessible. Sent from the BariatricPal App

    How much water per hour

My instructions for my post hospital phase (full liquid) is a MINIMUM of 16 oz per day. The goal is up to 64 oz of NON-caloric fluids. So you don't count Protein or any other fluids. Just non-calorie fluids. My protein goal is 60-80 grams per day. I am hoping I can get to the bottom of that limit today. I have a variety of Proteins available. The instructions for drinking Water are 2 ounces per 15 minutes so the maximum would be 8 oz. per hour. I am not making it that fast yet evey hour. Six oz, yes, if not drinking protein.

    October Surgery Buddies

Since I was up and walking and tolerating fluids I was cleared to come home last night. I've been conservative on intake but got ambitious with walking. I did 30 minutes all at once around several blocks from my house and back. Re-awakened a lot of soreness. Keep it calm and steady. Chew-able vitamins are HUGE! Took those slow. Ordinary meds in Oikos Triple Zero need to be stirred in to hide the foul flaovr after they are crushed or opened. It's all learning.

No, they said it would make me more thirsty. I am more awake this morning. I did 6 laps of the hospital floor. They are going to get my catheter out in a few minutes. Sent from the BariatricPal App I had my surgery this morning too. Apparently they did my leak test while I was in surgery??? I've been drinking Water, broth and tea since I woke up. Very small sips but so far so good. Love my pain meds too. I've walked twice to the bathroom with not too much discomfort. Best wishes to everyone! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App I am still waiting for that test. Sent from the BariatricPal App

    Anyone From Texas?

I live in Galveston, but my surgery will be tomorrow in Webster at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center with Dr. Khoi Du. The Fresh Start Bariatric program at CLRMC holds 2 support group meetings per month. The older of these meets the third Monday of the month at 6:00 pm. There is a newer, second session held at noon on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
