  1. My instructions for my post hospital phase (full liquid) is a MINIMUM of 16 oz per day. The goal is up to 64 oz of NON-caloric fluids. So you don't count Protein or any other fluids. Just non-calorie fluids.

My Protein goal is 60-80 grams per day. I am hoping I can get to the bottom of that limit today. I have a variety of Proteins available.

The instructions for drinking Water are 2 ounces per 15 minutes so the maximum would be 8 oz. per hour. I am not making it that fast yet evey hour. Six oz, yes, if not drinking protein.

  2. Since I was up and walking and tolerating fluids I was cleared to come home last night.

I've been conservative on intake but got ambitious with walking. I did 30 minutes all at once around several blocks from my house and back. Re-awakened a lot of soreness.

    Keep it calm and steady.

Chew-able Vitamins are HUGE! Took those slow.

Ordinary meds in Oikos Triple Zero need to be stirred in to hide the foul flaovr after they are crushed or opened.

    It's all learning.

  3. @@ChrisInGalveston I had my surgery this morning too, my mouth is sooo dry! Did they give you a sponge to wet your lips ?

No, they said it would make me more thirsty. I am more awake this morning. I did 6 laps of the hospital floor. They are going to get my catheter out in a few minutes.

I had my surgery this morning too. Apparently they did my leak test while I was in surgery??? I've been drinking Water, broth and tea since I woke up. Very small sips but so far so good. Love my pain meds too. I've walked twice to the bathroom with not too much discomfort. Best wishes to everyone!

  4. I live in Galveston, but my surgery will be tomorrow in Webster at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center with Dr. Khoi Du.

The Fresh Start Bariatric program at CLRMC holds 2 support group meetings per month. The older of these meets the third Monday of the month at 6:00 pm.

There is a newer, second session held at noon on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
