  5. 35 bmi scheduled 10/18. My dr didn't put me on two week preop diet because I'm low bmi. 2 day clear liquid starts tomorrow. Trust your surgeon. Forum for support. Everyone's program is different. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  6. I have Tricare west. I was very concerned about getting authorized. At my initial appointment the doctor's office told me that Tricare doesn't cover the sleeve. I knew this wasn't true because I had checked the insurance before I even started. They double checked and it was a covered procedure. I went with an in network surgeon and not the MTF. I was not successful in getting the nutritionist or psych covered. My primary care doctor initiated the first referral and authorization to the surgeon, which they denied. However I chose to proceed and paid my copay and got the insurance adjusted rate for my visits. My surgeon has a person whose entire job is coordinating care with insurance and hospital. She did a great job and I had full authorization for my procedure within two weeks. My surgery is 10/18. The hospital registration nurse called this morning and confirmed that she had the authorization and had spoken to Tricare this morning. I have a $25 copay for the procedure. I expected a higher copay for the hospital stay and half expected her to say Tricare had made a mistake on the initial authorization. I'm very excited. Based on my experience on the forum, the insurance experience varies greatly between regions and even between surgeons.
  7. My surgery is Tuesday. My dr & nutritionist say no vitamins til 2 weeks. It's going to be a struggle to get the protein to ideal numbers because the slow drinking and portion size is far more important in the beginning. I'm sorry you are struggling. Have you called your surgeon's office? Maybe his nurse could advise you. Hang in there.
  8. I used them. Easy and fast. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  9. Starting at a lower weight will mean slower weight loss. If you are likely to lose 75 pounds overall than you can't expect you'd lose 25-50% of that in first months, right? If your Protein and fluids are good just keep going and it will add up. I'm a 35 bmi and my dr said to expect the weightless to take a year. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  10. Welcome! I am scheduled for October 18th near San Francisco. I started in January and am so ready. I've nearly talked myself out of it so many times but never cancelled. About two weeks ago I hit my biggest anxiety and doubts. I took myself back through my paperwork, onto the forum and watched some YouTube success blogs. I'm ready. My preop was Thursday and I have started a preop diet of no processed food. Walking soon and often will not only alleviate your clot risks but also post op gas pain. Congrats!
