  1. I had my MGB in Jan 2017 from a gastric Sleeve. The sleeve didn't help me at all. I was always hungry and though I couldn't eat as much as before the sleeve I never lost weight. Now with the MGB I don't feel hungry like before. I am losing weight! Albeit slowly because I can't exercise much until I have surgery to fix my bum knee. ...

Here's my issue: We are all suppose to eat enough Protein. I am having a problem with it. I and can eat rice and bread (but choose not to) with no problem. When I eat dense food, ones with a lot of protein like chicken, or beef, I get this sour feeling in my stomach like I ate a rock and it takes forever for that feeling to fade away. I don't feel nauseous and I don't throw up but it's a bad uncomfortable feeling, just the same. Also, I can't stand these Protein shakes even mixing it with fruit it tastes like sh_t! Honestly, who is going to drink/eat something if it gives them a gag reflex? So has anyone had similar experiences? How did they cope?

  2. I am sooo glad I'm divorced. Egads some men just are missing the compassion gene. You must do what YOU think is right and if your husband gives you flack it might be time to re-evaluate your relationship and get some therapy so he'll be more understanding.

I can tell you from my experience I had on par, if not better care than in the states. I had just had a hip replacement 6 months before the MGB so I know. Hospitals in the states do take care of you, but you don't get to stay long there and the nurses are overworked. In TJ they don't have that kind of workload and give you more attention. Plus, a doctor saw me every day. When I had my hip surgery the doc saw me 24 hours later and he gave me a sum total of 5 minutes of his time. Yippee.. These hospital and docs are catering to an American populace so they have to be just as good as in the States. Oh yea, I also went all by myself and had no problem at all. I drove into TJ and parked in the hotel.

The BariatricPal Store carries a pretty wide variety of over 60 Protein bars that don't taste like cardboard! We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all products sold.

Personally, I try staying away from Protein Bars. I'll eat them when I'm on the go and don't have time to grab real food.

I am happy you do have a guaranteed! I actually bought 5 different flavors from bariactric pal that set me back a tiddy bit. (salted toffee pretzel, chocolate covered peanut dream, crispy Peanut Butter crunch, peant butter pretzel and variety pack.) They all tasted awful and barely edible. Honestly couldn't distinguish one from the other dispite their fancy names. They are just plain awful tasting. Honestly, the names and photos on the boxes give the illusion you're going to eat something tasty, but really are all gawd-awful. No offense to the ones sold at bariactric pal store, I tried others in the markets, and as far as I am concerned, they ALL suck. I guess you can't make something with low calories, and full of Protein to be palatable. I am just not going to force myself to eat something that tastes like flavored sawdust. Sorry. I do LOVE the vitamin patches. Great idea!

Have you tried P3? They are portioned meats, cheeses, nuts, (some have dried fruit). they range from 11-15g Protein. My favorite are the Deli Snackers ones, Ham, Turkey, and Cheddar (150 calories) I can't stomach the bars either. I'd rather eat dirt.

OMG thank you! I am going to stock up. I will try it though thank you!

  5. To me there's plenty out there for me to make or eat rather than settling for those nasty tasting bars. I don't think any weight loss includes making yourself eat something that does not taste well. I do cook and can make my own that taste better I bet or just find other alternatives for Snacks such as low fat string cheese and such. I am done eating mildly-flavored sawdust. Waste of money.

  6. I bought a boat load of them and even though each box has a flavor to it, they all basically taste like mildly flavored cardboard. It's just plain nasty. So I'm tossing them all out. I can't stand them! total waste of money. I should have bought just a few boxes but ending up buying a boatload and just can't stomach the taste. The idea was to have a simple easy snack on the go but these are hardly Snacks if they taste so awful.

  7. I recently had a revision of a VS to mini gastric bypass surgery in Jan (three weeks ago). I live in Los Angeles so I drove in and stayed the night before at the hotel they use. The surgery was very easy. For me going under is not a scary prospect as I’ve been around this rodeo before (this would be my 11 time going under). And it was very easy. I felt NO PAIN at all. I can’t say that will happen to everyone but I happen to be blessed with a high tolerance of pain. Even the gas they put in your stomach for the surgery seem minimal to me. I was walking all over the places chatting with the sweet receptionist up at the front of the hospital. So I was supposed to stay 3 days in hospital and two in the hotel but I only stayed in the hotel that one day and was bored to death. I wanted to drive home so I left one day early. Dr. Flores said I was good to go.

I was treated very well and having so many doctors to check on my condition every day besides the nurses. Honestly, I got more care then in a regular US hospital. The bariatric pal staff was amazing. I think the only shortcoming I see, which is minor, is to give add a page in the nice patient book they give us on what kind of Vitamins supplements we need to take after the surgery and how often and what type of blood tests we should take when we see our own physicians. The only other issues I had (again it’s minor) was there should have been a cleaning crew to pick up the dirty towels and empty the trash. I had to request them to do this. I talked to Enrique about my concerns and he told me he had a meeting with the staff and hospital discussing this and other issues. Again minor issues. The hospital was as good as any in US and the staff were very professional and treated me well. Also, the hotel has a casino in it and it is pretty noisy so bring some ear plugs. The rooms are very nice otherwise and the staff at the hotel was great. I had no issues with eating and on my third week and eating regular food albeit very little of it and I chew well. No dumping yet. I am being good for my diet. I am a gourmet cook so I am making a lot of the low carb recipes.< /p>

To me the surgery was easy-peasy. I should have done this a long time ago. The price is the best for TJ bariatric surgeries and the hospital was great! I was watching a lot of Netflix shows there too.

I would do this all again in a heartbeat. My only regret is I should have done this a year ago!
