  1. Yes! Crossed the century mark today...halfway to my goal!

  2. Scales on Friday showed me what I've been waiting to see...299.8! I've officially crossed the 300lb mark. Onward to 200!

  3. So cool to be able to sit in a booth now and not worry whether I will feel uncomfortable, or even fit.

      heidikat72

yep that is a major NSV!

One of my favorite restaurants recently renovated, and now the booths have so much extra space that it's TOO much for me. Can't win, LOL.

  4. So close to breaking that 300lb mark...going to have it within the week!

  5. Had to punch some new holes in my belt...the pants are getting loose.

It's funny though, because I have never worn my pants right...they're always way too low, because I didn't really have a "waist" to put it around. So I'm punching these new holes, but I know at a certain point I'm going to have to start bringing my pants up to my ACTUAL waist, and then go back up a bunch of notches. I'm already doing that with my jeans...but the good thing is, at my actual waist, I'm on the same hole I was on when I had them much, much lower at 385lbs. So that's a good NSV too :)

Thank you, Pork Chop, but they're not really so tiny. I wear size 9.

  8. Finally had time to get my computer set back up in CO, over a week after the move. No rest for the weary...and I AM weary.

Welcome back. ^^ Sleep well tonight when you do. hehe

  9. Putting LA in my rear view mirror in less than 12 hours, and moving back to CO. A major chapter of my life draws to a close, while a new one starts.

There used to be a restaurant on Hwy 24, east of Colorado Springs in Divide (I think) that served fried testicles. They're very chewy ;-)

    4. ShelterDog64

      ShelterDog64

      WEST of Colorado Springs.

  10. Five days till I leave CA and rejoin my family in CO. Been here for 18 years and the only thing about CO I didn't miss was the snow. Hopefully I'll find work!

Yeah, and with less "natural insulation" now, that cold is going to BITE me :) Living in LA never really connected with me. I like certain things about it, but not enough to stay forever.

  11. Ahh, beef jerky. Good protein source (if a little sodium-heavy) and more importantly, I have to chew, chew, chew...

    1. higher

      higher

I really like the Perky Turkey Jerky brand. It's much juicier and softer than other kinds of jerky I've tried. 2-3 oz works as a portion for me. It's pretty much all the carbs I'd like to have in a day though so I just keep an eye on that.

    2. ShelterDog64

I went through a jerky phase...yum! Its out right now with my stomach being such a jerk, but in my head I still love it!

    3. PorkChopExpress

      PorkChopExpress

I'm glad it went okay with my stomach! It was just one of those "I'll give it a try" things, now that I'm free to try stuff.

  12. Seems like a lot of people new to the VSG struggle to identify what "hunger" actually is, and what they describe is primarily mental. When you pair the loss of old habits and comforts with the bite of excess acid in the stomach, and the constant rumble the stomach does for the first month or so (before OR after you eat), I guess it's understandable...but I don't think people put enough focus on the mental part of their hunger.

The obese mind is a tricky little devil. It tricks you into desiring bad food and disguises boredom with hunger. Post surgery, the real you kicks in takes the wheel (I stole that from Blizair here on the boards). The real you presents hunger in a functional way, simply to fuel the body. I think it takes us a while to figure that out.

    3. Butterflywarrior

      Butterflywarrior

How do you figure it out wo eating tge house?? Lol but seriously, I feel hunger pangs frequently and they are intense. The sweet cravings I figured are psychological because I tried something sweet and hated it!! So happy but feel like food wise, my sleeve is not providing enough fullness... certain foods fill me like an egg but mist foods don't and thus worries scares me!! I'm only two weeks out and still having issues getting all of my water in si maybe that's key but I'm definitely meeting my protein. I'm sure the lack of carbs or I call it carb detox us contributing to my frequent desire for food! Any advice or tips?

    4. PorkChopExpress

      PorkChopExpress

@Butterflywarrior Sugar-free Popsicles are what I've used to satisfy my desire to eat when I didn't really need to eat. But I think just being aware of what you're really feeling is the key. That bite in your stomach is acid and the incision line healing, it's not hunger pangs...because you probably notice you get that feeling AFTER you eat, too. Trust me, it all gets a lot easier when you are able to eat more normal foods.

  13. It's getting so much easier to discriminate between what's REALLY good and what's not all that good. I guess chewing for so long is part of that, but I also just don't like wasting meals anymore.

    1. ShelterDog64

      ShelterDog64

I'm finding this to be true as well. I used to just want/need food, didn't care if it was high quality or not. Now, I'm not even interested in crappy food. If I only get 5-10 bites at a meal, I want them to be GOOOOOOD bites!

    2. The New Kel

      The New Kel

I totally agree. Sometimes I find myself trying something, chewing and deciding its not worth it and spitting it into the trash. Gross I know, but I want every bite to be quality and count.

    3. Sai

      Sai

Agree. We have this tiny sleeve that craves the absolute most nutritious food to survive. The body is an amazing thing if we really listen to it.

  14. Just discovered that the smallest container of Green Bean Chicken at Panda Express is almost the perfect size for one meal, now. I shudder to think about what a perfect meal there USED to look like, for me.

I can tell you what it used to be for me - double plate entrée with white rice. I'm good with the smallest container now :)

    3. PorkChopExpress

      PorkChopExpress

Mine was triple entree with chow mein, maybe a chicken egg roll, and an extra large Pepsi. Seems so obscene now lol :) @LipstickLady I think it's awesome that whereas I used to end up spending $12-14 on a meal, it's now like $3. That's awesome. I'm not to where I can eat enough to do the kids' meal, but I suspect after a few more months, that's what I'll be doing, too!

    4. LipstickLady

      LipstickLady

I can't eat an entire kids meal. Fortunately it's already packaged to go!

  15. Wow, nice. Weighed during my visit with family over the Halloween weekend. Averaging about 5 pounds lost a week. Awesome.

      The New Kel

  16. Had some peanuts tonight, chewed to a paste. They sat for a while, still kind of hard to digest I guess.

    1. Sai

      Sai

Yeah they really sit in our stomach for quite some time. They are a great source of protein though :D. I love pistachios but the calories add up for me hehe.

  17. It's nice to notice the little things about losing weight...the difference in how it feels walking up steps, or the much-reduced pain in my bad Achilles.

Little things but so so so awesome things. I slightly remember having serious knee pain. I totally forgot about it, and then someone would ask "How's your knees?" Ohhh yeah. :)

  18. Just discovered that Taco Bell will sell you a small container of steak or chicken, solo. Nice!

      Sai

    2. PorkChopExpress

      PorkChopExpress

Yeah I was running late last night and couldn't pack my food for work. Ran over and just asked while I was ordering pintos, whether they would be able to sell me a little container of steak and he immediately said, "No problem." I guess they actually have it in the register. Must be a bunch of weight loss surgery patients out there who just want the protein :)

    3. Sai

      Sai

hehe I'm sure there are a LOT of us out there. That is really good to know though!

Yeah I've been reading about it online, it appears to be a fairly common thing. I guess there's all kinds of changes happening chemically in my body right now, it stands to reason there's going to be some weirdness.

Pay attention, but don't freak. On the other hand, there are some really cool advantages from a hormone surge if your able to tap into Adolescence part II. It can be fun now that you know what to do with it.

    4. PorkChopExpress

      PorkChopExpress

Doesn't feel hormonal, I'm not any more "charged up" in that way than usual. It's just being "awake" - but last night was the first time it's really happened to me. I'm assuming it's related to metabolism.

  20. The Walking Dead annihilated me tonight...man, so grueling. Great season premiere.

  21. Looking forward to moving back home to CO after living in LA for 18 years. My decreasing mass is going to struggle with the cold though, I'm sure of that!

    1. WLSResources/ClothingExch

      WLSResources/ClothingExch

I don't actually know, I haven't weighed since my last doctor's appointment, which was a little over two weeks ago. I will record my weight again at my next doctor's appointment, whenever that is :) The scale has always been my enemy when it comes to weight loss, it affects me mentally too much. So I'm not in any hurry to weigh!

Whole pieces of meat? Raw, no doubt. I sense the approach of a raging lion.

  23. Feeling low energy the past couple days. Getting all my vitamins, water and protein...just feel a little sluggish and need more sleep, so I have been sleeping in. Still going strong at the gym though.

    2. ShelterDog64

      ShelterDog64

Are you eating mainly protein? If I go into ketosis, I get super sluggish and tired after about 5-7 days of it. I add some carbs in until I start feeling more energetic.

    3. PorkChopExpress

      PorkChopExpress

My meals are generally split between protein and carbs pretty well, I probably get 1 1/2 TBSP of carbs (usually some kind of potato) per meal. Haven't really been able to do much in terms of fruit, though. I may need to up the carbs just a tad and see if that helps. I've just been trying to put more emphasis on protein from meats.

  24. Shredded BBQ beef tonight, first time trying beef and it was no problem. My stomach is doing very well, I'm happy.

Wonderful! As soon as I was cleared for any food. Beef and pork was the first things I tried. :)

It's just nice to not have complications, to feel somewhat normal...even though the amount I'm eating certainly isn't normal. But I can have things that taste good, which I enjoy, and my "new" stomach isn't pitching a fit about any of it. Unless I put too much in it, which has only happened twice. :)
