Scales on Friday showed me what I've been waiting to see...299.8! I've officially crossed the 300lb mark. Onward to 200!

Had to punch some new holes in my belt...the pants are getting loose.
-
It's funny though, because I have never worn my pants right...they're always way too low, because I didn't really have a "waist" to put it around. So I'm punching these new holes, but I know at a certain point I'm going to have to start bringing my pants up to my ACTUAL waist, and then go back up a bunch of notches. I'm already doing that with my jeans...but the good thing is, at my actual waist, I'm on the same hole I was on when I had them much, much lower at 385lbs. So that's a good NSV too

Putting LA in my rear view mirror in less than 12 hours, and moving back to CO. A major chapter of my life draws to a close, while a new one starts.

Ugh, last night wasn't a bad dream after all. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Well, at least now I can't eat over it.

I've lost 70 lbs in 3 months! I'm wicked happy I did this surgery. :]

Five days till I leave CA and rejoin my family in CO. Been here for 18 years and the only thing about CO I didn't miss was the snow. Hopefully I'll find work!

Ahh, beef jerky. Good protein source (if a little sodium-heavy) and more importantly, I have to chew, chew, chew...

Seems like a lot of people new to the VSG struggle to identify what "hunger" actually is, and what they describe is primarily mental. When you pair the loss of old habits and comforts with the bite of excess acid in the stomach, and the constant rumble the stomach does for the first month or so (before OR after you eat), I guess it's understandable...but I don't think people put enough focus on the mental part of their hunger.

@Butterflywarrior Sugar-free Popsicles are what I've used to satisfy my desire to eat when I didn't really need to eat. But I think just being aware of what you're really feeling is the key. That bite in your stomach is acid and the incision line healing, it's not hunger pangs...because you probably notice you get that feeling AFTER you eat, too. Trust me, it all gets a lot easier when you are able to eat more normal foods.

So the incision inside my belly button has been oozing since yesterday. I talked to the doctor on call and I now have to go into the office on Monday for them to look at it. I suppose I can't complain too much since my recovery has been pretty seamless, but I hope it is a minor issue...

At only 4 months in... people are asking me "how much more do you plan to lose?" As if I should stop now and I get it. But I didn't come this far to lose what I could have lost on my own... So although I look like I'm there to other people-- I still have a ways to go.

I am not going to feel bad for following my surgeon's directions. What a ridiculous notion.
-
The lowest weight I can recall seeing on a scale was 198.6 when I was 15 years old. I'm now officially below that!

Just discovered that the smallest container of Green Bean Chicken at Panda Express is almost the perfect size for one meal, now. I shudder to think about what a perfect meal there USED to look like, for me.
-
Mine was triple entree with chow mein, maybe a chicken egg roll, and an extra large Pepsi. Seems so obscene now lol @LipstickLady I think it's awesome that whereas I used to end up spending $12-14 on a meal, it's now like $3. That's awesome. I'm not to where I can eat enough to do the kids' meal, but I suspect after a few more months, that's what I'll be doing, too!

Is there anyone else out there mourning the loss of 'favorites'?

Day 3 of my liquid diet and I've lost six pounds! I'm getting through the headaches and exhaustion. Trying not to think about how long I have to do this!

I love pickles but every time I eat one. I temporarily gain 2 lbs the next day. I need to find some tasty low sodium ones. It's not the weight that bothers me but more why does my body DO that? grrrr

I had mild edema before surgery too, I would get swelling in my feet, ankles and calves quite a bit (especially after sitting for long periods of time). It has totally vanished, now. I think part of it was because I was chronically dehydrated due to all the Coke I was drinking, and probably other issues related to weight. But after dropping a bunch of weight, it has disappeared. So it may resolve itself over time. But yeah, salt just makes you swell up unless you also have enough potassium in your diet to help regulate the sodium intake, and potassium isn't something you can really supplement, it has to come primarily from food. Bananas and Broccoli!

Just discovered that Taco Bell will sell you a small container of steak or chicken, solo. Nice!
-
Yeah I was running late last night and couldn't pack my food for work. Ran over and just asked while I was ordering pintos, whether they would be able to sell me a little container of steak and he immediately said, "No problem." I guess they actually have it in the register. Must be a bunch of weight loss surgery patients out there who just want the protein

Looking forward to moving back home to CO after living in LA for 18 years. My decreasing mass is going to struggle with the cold though, I'm sure of that!
