When everyone else is drinking
QueenOfTheTamazons posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you like to drink when everyone else is drinking and you dont want to make it obvious your not? I made something yesterday I call "fauxjitio". Its mint muddled with splenda, lime and Water. Its refreshing and dressed like a mojito in a highball glass I doubt anyone would notice. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
My go to Protein shake is 10z fairlife milk (half reg/half chocolate), 1 scoop GENEPRO, and 1 scoop PB2. You can swap the pb2 for instant decaf for a mocha feel. I like thinks cold, so i just picked up a personal blender to make "frapachinos" at work. HW 385 SW 359 CW 335 (50lbs down!) Sleeved 10/5/16

When everyone else is drinking
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That comes across pretty harsh. My friends would never question my choices, but a well meaning coworker, or the spouse of my husband's boss, might get a little noisy. I am only looking for and offering up ideas for people who want to be part of a festive occastion without alcohol. Maybe they dont want questions or maybe they just want some ideas for beverages other than water or tea. Sometimes its easier to carry the proverbial solo cup. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
When everyone else is drinking

Its not I cant drink, I am choosing not to drink. I could barely handle one cocktail preop so I am choosing not to post op. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
When everyone else is drinking
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of my friends and family dont drink. I figured that with the holidays coming people might like some ideas for events where they dont ness want to share their medical histories or keep answering the same questions, like company parties. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Same here. I had chronic diarrhea for 13 years from my gallbladder surgery. The first 3 weeks post op, I went on the reg, consistancy better than preop but still on the loose side of things. Since i started eating more food and less Protein drinks I go a small amount every couple of days. Inbetween days its 0.4-0.6lbs down, go days 1.5lbs or more. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16

How does everyone deal with the social pressure to eat while eating out?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to Travelher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We've been out a couple of times since my surgery, because we just had our first anniversary. At applebees, huband ordered a regular meal and i ordered french onion Soup and a side of mashed sweet potatoes. Ended up taking more than half home. I tried a bite of his steak, started to chew and knew it wasnt going down. Husband saw my distress and helped me discreetly spit it in his napkin. Thats love. Lol Second time we went to a BBQ place. We decided to share what he ordered. We overordered to try a couple of menu items knowing that he would eat any leftovers. There was a bit of a side eye when the waitress saw my plate with a single bbq nacho, a 1in piece of chicken fried bacon, 1in piece of sausage and a 2in piece of brisket but she didnt say anything. QueenOfTheTamazons replied to LittleLizzieLilliput's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work 5 days post op. I still struggle to get Water in, mostly because i get distracted and forget. I usually have a fairlife "shake" for Breakfast, oikos yogurt or cheese/meat or leftovers for lunch, cheese/protein shake for snack. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Thai spring rolls
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive made them lots of times before but never trying to be low carb or bariatric friendly HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Has anyone tried/done well with thai spring rolls? I was thinking of using just the rice paper and not the rice noodles. Stuffing them with a "salad" of shredded chicken or chopped shrimp, avocado, small amount of carrots, Water chestnuts, lettuce and mint. We used to really like them before. I have been released for all foods and I want to start making meals my husband will eat too, so he doesnt rely on FF. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16

What apps do you use.
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use spark people app to track meals and weight. I use my fitbit for exercise and Water. I set hourly alarms on my fitbit to remind me to drink water. During the work days I can forget to drink, especially since I had to move my water bottle. The sun hitting it caused it to randomly spit water at me. Lol HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
1 month surgeversay! And a "WTF body?" question
QueenOfTheTamazons posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Soooo.... I am one month preop today and down 48lbs. Woot! Multiple people have commented that I need new pants. My pants look like they are wide leg jeans (not) and that I in them (double not). Like most of you, I am sure, I have a wide range of sizes in my closet... but while I am losing weight in my butt and thighs, I havent really lost anything around my waist allowing me to go down in size. WTF body? How do you guys deal? Should I rock the baggy ass or move to a smaller size and use the hairtie trick? Also, has anyone else noticed differences it plus size sizes in plus size brands? Fashion bug size 26 jeans are still too tight, but I can wear size 22 Lane Bryant jeans (with a slight pinch at the waist). HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
No added sugar cordial ?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to msfaybe's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
In that case, my dr. suggested putting fresh fruit/cucumbers in the Water to lightly flavor it. If using juice, try 1 oz to 8oz. You dont want to add to much because its cals and carbs with no real nutrition. I like to add 2-3 oz of the peach mango v8 in a 20oz cup and top off with iced tea (16-17oz). I had staples too. One of my bandages came off and I saw the staples and it freaked me out. I did everything I could to keep the other ones on and kept bandaids over the exposed one cause it creeped me out. Lol HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -

Here it is - my newbie post
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to rolosmom7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree! I can easily get down a full container of oikios triple zero, 8oz refried Beans or other slider foods. My first try and more solid foods like ham, brocolli and 2 bites of mash potatoes ended up at maybe 3oz and an uncomfortable feeling for the rest of the night. If you can handle eggs, try my preferred method. 1 part fairlife milk to 4 parts liquid egg. Laughing cow wedge optional. Scrabmble well. It makes for a soft meal with 100-130 cals and 14-17g protein. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
No added sugar cordial ?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to msfaybe's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
A cordial is not going to be a low glycemic index drink. Also, I didnt say that she was going to become an alcoholic. Transfer addictions can be alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, exercising, gambling, shopping etc. If she is newly post op and judging by the question its likely, and already asking about alcohol she can be opening herself up to a slippery slope. If nothing else, like for me, drinking can lead to noshing and then full out Taco Bell binges. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Clothing - what to do
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to Tami_Lynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would pick your favorites and reach out to a local seamstress and see if they might make you a package deal. When we got married last Halloween my mom my sister and I had to have our costumes slash wedding dress altered kind of last minute. I went to a local seamstress and she gave us really good deal for all three pieces. Only cost me $30 to take in like five inches of my wedding dress, which was a custom-made 1940's pattern dress. It might cost you a hundred bucks or so for 5-10 items but it likely cost you a lot more than that if its torrid and other similar brands. You could also try selling on your local Facebook pages. I see a lot of women selling clothes like that in my area. The online resale stores don't give you a whole lot of money and where I am the consignment stores don't either. Protein protein protein!
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to kjkashmaniac's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got tried of Premier Protein really quick... No now I try to drink two cups of Fairlife Fat Free milk with sugar free chorale mixed in... And a scoop of GENEPRO Protein mixed in as well... It's odorless and tasteless. You can also put it in yogurt..I do something similar. I use 5oz fairlife and 5oz fairlife chocolate with 1tbs genepro and 1tbs PB2. Tastes kinda like a Peanut Butter cup. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -

No added sugar cordial ?
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to msfaybe's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
How far postop are you? Why do you want to drink? My answer First, no added sugar is not sugar free. There might be a lot of natural sugar in whatever you are drinking, from the fruit and the alcohol. Low carb (during the weight loss phase at min) is the best way to keep the weight loss steady and to avoid triggers that lead to bad food descisions and regain. Second, its empty calories. You coukd easily spend 1/4 of your daily calories on just one drink. Third, most WLS patients have a much different tolerance for alcohol than they had preop. What once might have given you a mellow buzz might get you completely smashed. Fourth, its fairly easy (and not uncommon) for a WLS patient to exchange one addiction, food, for another, alcohol, and completely screw up their life again. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16 -
Post Sleeve Surgery Change in Taste Buds

I cant tolerate most artifical sweeteners anymore. McD's soft serve tasted like greasy blech. Jello sugar free chocolate mousse, that I used to love, had a weird taste and a texture I could no longer stand. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16
