Sleeved 09/06/16. At my 3 month post op apt in December my surgeon told me my Iron level was low at 29 ug/dl. He told me to take an iron supplement which I have been. Got tested again 01/31/17 and found out today it's at 11 ug/dl. Waiting for a referral to see a hematologist and get an iron transfusion. What the surgeon recommended. I take my multi-Vitamins, iron pills, and calcium pills religiously. I don't mix them and space them all out 2 hrs at time. Anyone had issues like this? Iron transfusion? Reactions? Outcome? little nervous Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you @ deeveg. @Daja- stools have been darker since surgery. Haven't thought much of it though. Will bring that up to the doc. I read about losing blood. Hopefully they will do a colonoscopy to rule it out. Never thought I would say that! Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm hypothyroid and didn't have problems with weight loss. I'm down 80lbs and had my surgery 9/2016. Medication has to be taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and can't eat for 30 mins. You also have to wait 4 hours until you take your first Vitamin. That's what my pill bottle and doctor says. There is on line info on that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

When while on a train, a women asked if I wanted to sit down because she thought I was pregnant, when my blood pressure and sugar went up and up and up, when I had to buy a size 20/2x/3x in clothes, when I was mistaken for an even bigger person I know, when extended family told me I was fat ( cultural thing-they think they can say what they want), when I couldn't keep up with my children while playing, when I realized that if I didn't lose the weight I could get hurt while working, when I started to get depressed and didn't want to go to social functions...Why it took so much I don't know... but I thank the man above everyday that I had the strength and faith to believe and go through with it. I am so happy and feel great now. Low blood pressure. Low sugar. Love getting up in the morning. 267 to 178 now! Sleeved 09/06/16.Great question @ clevergirl! Questions about Hair Loss and Scars
lalame replied to fancypants67's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My doc advised Vitamin E oil on the scars. Kept my scars from drying. Looking good. Lots of hair loss. If you search hair loss.. the vets say keep up with Protein and vitamin intake. Keeping my fingers crossed. Very scary. Sleeved 9/06/16. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Sleeved 9/06/16. I have my first cold and sinus infection since my surgery. The urgent care doctor prescribed Augmentin ( amoxicillin ) 875mg. I told her about my surgery. What is your experience with antibiotics? What antibiotics have you heard you can or have taken? Which ones if any should be avoided? I left a message for the surgical team. They are closed on Fridays. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Patients say different things. I was told no caffeine ever because of the acid in it, ulcers, and dehydration. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Fitbit charge. Depends on how much you want to spend. Apple Watch is expensive. I have had a Fitbit for about 2 yrs now. Only complaint is that when you drive, it tracks the movement as steps. I heard the Apple Watch doesn't do that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Nothing really to do with my sleeve directly more with my stiches
lalame replied to atzvsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes ask the doc to give you a cream with a steroid in it. Same thing happened to me. Hydrocortisone and Benadryl did NOT work. The steroid prevented the itching and it eventually went away. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
