  1. I felt the same as you! I regretted my decision, but that was only temporary! I've lost close to 60 pounds and I realize this was the BEST decision I have ever made. Hang in there!

    Anyone not need plastic surgery?

I’ve lost over 50 pounds and yes, I would like a tummy tuck and breast reduction/lift, but mainly that’s for my own vanity. I’m just happy to be so ,icy smaller than before and it’s like I will be entering the Hawaiian Tropic bikini contest, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ meh, for now the loose skin is ok with me.

    How insensitive...

I'm also thinking it was an administrative assistant who was told you were having surgery (your boss probably didn't tell what kind, because it's really not the admin's business), and therefore the Cookies were sent. Too bad your boys didn't specify what to send you- maybr flowers instead of cookies. But yeah- WTH are you supposed to do with cookies? In my case I would give them to my 9 year old. He's got the fastest metabolism! Congrats on your surgery!

    Pre Op diet and diarrhea

Same thing happened to me. I chalked it up to nerves/my IBS.

How have your taste buds changed?

Not really at all for me except protein shakes gross me out- but that's probably because I am sick to the death of them.

When do you feel no pain

I am going on 5 weeks post op and I would say that between 3 and 4 weeks I no longer felt any discomfort, including soreness. Hang in there! Honestly, unless I see my incision marks, I feel so "normal" again, it seems hard to believe I even had the surgery (besides getting full easier, which is a good thing, of course!).

Had a REALLY bad day yesterday

I'm so sorry you're going through this. My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer recently and had her first chemo treatment yesterday. I sat through it with her- 3.5 hours. I am glad you'll be able to see your dad soon. As for the setback, who can blame you? You'll get back on track. I just know it. xo

    My surgery eve is here!

    Best wishes!

    How many?

4 weeks out 400-600 calories a day. No I don't count carbs. I lose weight regardless.

BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?

My thoughts on this are...I think it's a really, really, really, really bad idea for you.
  11. Yes, I did. It may have helped. I didn't feel nauseated until the day after surgery but I had zofran and a transdermal patch to help with that. It cost $35 through insurance. I had hit my prescription deductible for the year by that time so it's very possible it would have cost me a lot more if I hadn't.

    Not "hungry", but hungry..?

Yes, I felt the same way as you. 3 weeks plus post op it gets so much better. Hang in there!
  13. Give it another week and try again. You'all be amazed at how much can change in such a short amount of time. I'm 4 weeks out today and everyday is a learning experience.
  14. I did really well today with my eating, or so I thought- Protein shake, Soup, some yogurt, some hot tea, frankly Water (not all at the same time of course). At around 6 pm I sat down to help/supervise my 3rd grader with his homework. We needed to go over spelling and vocab words, things like that. I developed a headache/migraine and took generic sumatriptan to get rid of it. I felt clammy and kind or disoriented and irritable. I had eaten at about 4pm and now at nearly 7pm, am not hungry at all but I will have some "dinner" anyway soon. I googled symptoms and it sounds like maybe some hypoglycemia. Not sure. My stomach does not hurt at all. No nausea or diahrrea- just the clammy and kind of dizzy feeling. Anyone else have experience with this? Blah.
  15. My husband is far from perfect, as am I, but has been pretty darn amazing throughout this process too. I gotta give it to him. He's very nurturing. He took good care of me as I recovered, plus took over all child care duties of our 9 year old son. For the house I have a once a week cleaning service, so no vacuuming for me, unless a box of Cheerios spills lol. I think some women just don't think they deserve any better. It's sad.

    Am I a slow healer?

I think everyone is different and you have to move at the pace that is best for you. I also had a hiatal hernia repair. On Tuesday I will be 4 weeks out and I have been on mushie foods this past week until week 7. Scrambled eggs, oatmeal, mushed up avocado, yogurt, creamy Soups, etched. Too early for me for hamburger meat or chicken, but I am sure there are those at 4 weeks out who would feel comfortable eating those things. Go at your own pace and don't do anything you feel you aren't ready for.

Protein snacks 3 weeks post op?

Now that I am on mushie foods, and cream soups, I'm not hungry enough for snacks, and before this I was on full liquids so there were no appealing snacks except maybe some unsweetened applesauce, if you call that appealing lol.

When are you going to stop losing weight?

Not yet since I am less than a month out of surgery but if anyway does ever ask me that (and I hope I get skinny enough that they will), I'm just gonna reply with "NEVER!"

    Need support

Sorry I have no idea how that got posted twice.

    Need support

I've never had a heel spur but I do have plantar fasciitis and I say I do have it because even though it's not acting up at the moment, once you have it never really goes away. I developed it when I worked retail, standing on my feet all day. Ugh. It was the worst in the morning! I would hobble out of bed like I was 93! I weighed a lot less than I do now but had started to gain weight (I was about 145 at the time), but even that's too heavy for my frame. I used night splints and did all kinds of stretching excersices and got more supportive shoes. It eventually got better. Then it came back, but only in one foot, so I had a cortisone shot. That took away the pain but only lasted a month. So back to stretching and night splints I went. Then it subsided but my left Achilles heel started hurting and I developed a bump on it (I had damaged it and the lump was scar tissue). I went for physical therapy and had to do all kinds of exercises to strengthen my ankles, plus a massage technique called Astym, which also works on plantar fasciitis. Another technique called Rolfing also works. My husband got it too from working in the hospitality industry and being on his feet all day. He was no overweight, so even thin people get it but being overweight makes you more susceptible. I hope you find some relief soon!

    I'm a mess!

Hehe oh man, the pureed stage was like someone freeing me from a straitjacket. Just to have more choices helped me too. Glad you're feeling good . Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App Thank you! That really is how it feels- being released from a straight jacket. Scrambled eggs and hummus never tasted so good! (Not together of course) Glad you are feeling better!

Chewing Gum Sugar Free of course

I don't use straws but I chew sf gum, esp when I feel head hunger, as they call it. I am less than 4 weeks post op.
  23. Browneyedgirl41

    Post op clothes

Yoga pants and a comfy top is what I wore to the surgery center. It kinda looked like lounging pajamas. I didn't even bother with a bra.

    Breast reduction

I had a breast reduction in 2008, after I lost 60 lbs of baby weight, pre WLS. Then starting in 2009, I packed on 60 plus pounds and ruined the effects of my lift and reduction. I am mad at myself because it was a waste of money too. I will get another one once I reach my goal weight. I did not have to do physical therapy. I have never heard of that before. Do you have an injury or specific medical issue that would make PT a necessity? I'm just curious.

    Pregnancy complications?

I'm so sorry about your losses. That's devastating. I have a friend who had gastric bypass surgery and had several children afterwards. In fact, it made fertility easier in her case (not being obese anymore). I don't think it's the surgery, but obviously I am not a doctor. I had my son before I had WLS (I didn't need it back then) and am done having babies so I have no personal experience to draw on. Sending baby dust your way!
