Soooooo damn true!!! We get it all- periods, bloating, pregnancy, menopause. The only thing we have over men? When they wake up ugly they are stuck at ugly. We have the luxury of makeup. Oh wait. That sucks too- costs money and always needs to be replaced. Forget that one.

I have lost almost 100 pounds during my six-month pre-op diet. I haven't even had the surgery yet. It is Wednesday. I have certainly not been on any "prisoner of war" diet, but I have been incredibly focused on my journey, re-establishing my relationship with food, and improving my health. I, too, read of these insane posts where people can't even work to improve their situation for a few hours, let alone long term. But it is what it is, so I never comment. This surgery next week is a tool that will help me to continue my journey, but it isn't the whole journey. I am DAMN proud of what I have accomplished, and just because the loss has been swift doesn't mean that it is unhealthy.

I was also a bit confused on the "drama" .... I thought we were cracking jokes about fries??? I need some reality checks and laughs to get through this. [emoji173]

Just keep doing your program. I'm sure you went with a successful surgeon. From what I've noticed, my surgeon is stricter than most, but only 1 failed outcome. His entire staff is former wls patients except my nut. The nurse, the nurse assistant, the PA, the psych eval therapist. All went through wls. So, I trust he's learned and this is the best plan. I don't get on the scale outside of appointments. I'm personally focusing on getting in enough liquid, then Protein. Everyone's focus should be different, all of our bodies are different. And 60+ pounds is awesome!!!
    Keep on keepin on

Agreed. There were some comments to me 2 or 3 days out of surgery when I asked about not feeling well and it was "get your protein!!" I was a little upset at the tone, obviously I'm trying and drinking Protein shakes, not Coke. But in the end, it's true. I need more Protein. Tough love

It frustrates me to no end, I followed my preop diet perfectly. Went off my celebrex, did all the shakes and broth/soup. Have not cheated at all post op (I'm human so I'm sure that will change at some point). And I am having a horrible time of things! But these people eating tacos and pork chops and God knows what else are fine! Talk about frustrating!!!!
My husband has even committed enough that he eats his meals at work so not to tempt me. He has his popsicle for dessert at home (his are fudgesicles though) and on the weekend sticks to food I don't like.
Our family went to therapy together to make sure our whole household was ready. It was a lot of work. But here are some folks, willy nilly doing whatever. Ughhhhhhh!

Hi ladies (and men, if so inclined)
Just wanted to share something that's really helped me. I've felt pretty sick, tough recovery so far. Each night, I've been digging out something to pamper myself. You know, that stuff we buy, use once and then put on a shelf never to be seen again?
Well, I busted it out. I've been doing face masks, sugar scrubs, lip scrubs, etc. It really has helped mentally. Bonus, all that stuff doesn't go to waste!
Just wanted to share - I may feel like s**t but my skin looks good!
Also, I tried to put this in the "powder room" forum and it wouldn't let me?

@@Lipstick I have learned so much from you on this journey and though I am not vocal myself you daily give wise advice! Same goes for many of the vets. I am frankly tired of everyone that picks on the vets! It is getting ridiculous! Then they Accuse them of being bullies when they give sound advice. Keep doing what your doing and ignore the haters!

Really the only time I give a rats patootie anymore about what someone is eating post op is when they are early out and can actually injure themselves. Yeah, I'm going to say something whether they like it or not just to try to make them understand that bodily injury can occur before they're fully healed.
Otherwise, have at it. Eat whatever you want if it works for you. And if it doesn't, then who am I to tell someone they weren't ready for the surgery? I'm sure they themselves already know.
Me? I was ready. And I'm totally willing to throw a little advice someone's way if they show they are, too. Usually the ones who can take a little constructive criticism, are thirsty for knowledge, don't think they already know it all (because who does?), and open to different advice without getting completely defensive are the ones who are ready for the changes that need to happen with the surgery. They don't want validation, just information.

I agree - I needed the kick in the ass for another Protein Shake. I ask advice for help and other experiences, not coddling. I can call my Mommy for that (but that'd get me an ass whopping over the phone haha!)

Not a pork chop 5 days post-op - moderation doesn't not apply in these cases!

Meh...my motto is "you do you and I'll do me".
It's too much energy to get worked up over someone in the Internet getting worked up.
I'm just here to talk. That's all this is...a discussion. Easy enough to move on.

It's like the mindset that everyone has to have a trophy for just showing up. Instead of winning. Giving it your all with the best of your talent is wonderful, and we are all good at different things. But to feel we must be rewarded for everything and unaccountable for little is nuts. My rant.
