how many times have u PBed?

Knock on wood..I haven't had a PB yet, but I got a piece of lunchmeat stuck at work and I hauled it to the bathroom (nothing came up). It felt so strange like I couldn't breathe! It made it's way down and I learned my lesson--small bites and chew chew chew!!!

    Newly Banded in Texas

Jen-Jen, welcome! I had my first fill on 1/17 and was on liquids that day, then mushies and back to solids. Honestly, I didn't feel much different after the first fill but everyone's different. I hope this second one creates more restriction!! I'm having my second fill on 2/14--so I'll be eating soup too. Good luck to you!!!

    menstrul cycle change?

By no means am I a medical expert, but I had a cycle right after surgery (which according to my bc pills I was 5 days early). I started my pills again as usual and then started another cycle 5 days later. I called my OBGYN and scheduled a follow up, and I suggest you doing that as well. I hope you feel better. Good luck!

    first fill

I've had one fill since my surgery on 12/28, and I've had no discomfort (besides an episode of eating a piece of lunch meat too fast and ohhh the pain) anyways, everything I've read said that a fill shouldn't cause pain. Maybe you need to be unfilled? I'm not doctor though, but I'd suggest maybe giving yours a call for some guidance...I hope you feel better.

    Telling Your Family?

I told everyone I work with as well as close family. My coworkers are like family to me so they are very supportive. My family was supportive too, and everyone likes to call me up and ask how things are going etc. Everyone's families and friends are different, so I think it's just a personal judgement call. Lots of luck to you

    I hate fat people!!!

I do not HATE fat people, but it grosses me out when I see a fat person who doesn't dress as good as they could or doesn't wear make-up! It drives me nuts! Heathergurl, does it bother you when thin people do not wear make up or dress as good as they should? By what standards do you judge "not as good as they should" or "wearing enough make up?" Quite often I see a lot of "thinner" women in the mall with no make up, jeans and their hair in buns. I do not understand the difference. Does being overweight make it necessary to over compensate by making sure you're always made up to leave the house? For some reason, that statement truly bothers me because it gives into the idea that you have to artifically make up for a physical flaw. I personally see people of all races, sizes and ages not living up the "what's acceptable" fashion wise and elsewise. It doesn't make me like them any less or judge them anymore. I'm guilty of not wearing make up on the weekends and often stop by the store or run errands after hitting the gym, in my not so great gym clothes as I'm leaving my business suit at home for the weekdays. One of my favorite work out shirts has a huge stain on it. I could care less--I'm not in a fashion contest as I work out to achieve my personal goals, and I seriously won't go home to change and put on make up if I need to make a stop after the gym. More over, the public doesn't sign my paycheck, pay my house note nor my car note. They do not put me through graduate school. My dad weighs over 400 lbs and I could care less what people think of him, me, my sister, etc when we're out. The only time I'd ever say a family member is an embarassment if when they were to blow me off. I'm proud to have a father who is alive and loves me, regardless of his size. It's funny how people in general, as one poster said, compare themselves by stating "well at least i'm not as....." It's a way we make ourselves feel better. I've always said beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There's someone to love everyone. Regardless of weight, we should be proud of who we are and those who love us. I commend you on your goal to become a better person. Everyday I try to do something to make me a better person--- truthfully, until we stop "judging" our own (and I use that term loosely) the world will always see overweight people in the same way. If we're in on the judging matches with thin people, imagine how much easier we make it when they judge overweight people on their own. Just my two cents...

    December Bandsters: First Fill Yet?

I had a fill on at my three week mark. I still have no restriction. I'm ready for another I was banded 12/28...

Sons says I look like Hippo on Madagascar!

My dad was at the video store and a 3 year old boy said he was the fattest man he'd ever seen. With great control, my dad said "it's because I'm santa claus" the grandmother with the boy was so embarassed and my dad told her it was okay. We teach kids to be honest, in all situations...so sometimes it can backfire in our faces :thankyou:

    Need more calories...

I'm not sure if the Boost protein drinks contain milk but they got me through the liquid stage. As far as the Isopure, I couldn't even go past a sip...but everyone has their own tastes :thankyou: I hope you feel better, good luck!!

    Ok...who drinks?

I'm about 4 weeks out and haven't had a drink yet. I'm not a big drinker anyways, especially after I finished college. I plan though, as I lose weight and are more comfortable out in the social setting, to have a couple of drinks. My doc's biggest concern about drinking wasn't damage to the band, but rather consumption of empty calories...

    Newbee and Emotional....Normal?

I was banded on 12/28 and on day three my fiance (who is recovering from ACL replacement) asked me to make him a sandwhich. I CAME UNGLUED. How dare he ask me to do that? Then I realized how dare I act so immature over something to eat. It caused a huge fight, me saying he was an insensitive SOB and he saying I was a baby. I let him win that one. 1) because it is not his fault I weighed over 300 lbs. 2) Up until that moment he had been following the diet with me, and needed the substance to take a pain pill for his knee. At that point I realized how much food ruled my life. He went to his parent's house and I cried and cried. The next day I realized how much of a baby I had been. Moral of the story for me is nobody made me this way. Nobody forced me to have this surgery and nobody kept me from eating healthy and working out. I can't expect other people in my life to adhere to my new eating plan because I miss food. Other's may disagree, but you can't expect others to change their eating because of choices you made. I had to come to terms with that. Everyday my coworkers eat fast food, drink cokes etc. I eat my cottage cheese and chicken and relish in the fact that one day I will be at my goal...I prayed and prayed for strength and have found it. I learned the difference between head hunger and body hunger. I started working out and enjoying my new life. Good luck my dear and I promise it DOES get easier. I'm almost on week 4 and I feel like a million bucks
  21. The first several weeks after surgery are the toughest so don't be too hard on youself. This is a HUGE life adjustment and you have to take it one day at a time. I do not know what kind of diet your surgeon has placed you on, but try hard to stick with it. The main reason is so that you can heal. In the full liquid stage I ate cream of chicken Soup and that really filled me up, I also kept fat free pudding and ate that too. Egg drop soup has a lot of Protein. Mushies, I would try things like refried Beans (good protein) mushed up black beans and then slowly add some mushed meat. Try to eat the protein first. Before you are filled eating is much easier because you have no restriction. You have to try to rely on your willpower or you will end up eating close to what you did before. Drink lots and lots of Water. When exercising, while you are healing try walking on the treadmill to keep from "jiggling" too much. I started that way and finally made my way back to the elliptical machine. If you are having a lot of port pain talk to your doctor. It's so hard at first but remember we all go through the "what did I do this for" time. It will get better, I'm 3 weeks out and so happy I made this choice!!! Hugs and prayers coming your way...

    First fill today

Hello all!! I received my first fill today, so I'm on liquids tonight and then back to mushies tomorrow then solids by the end of the week. Today marked my three weeks out since the surgery and I had lost 13lbs. I am pretty pleased. I was suprised they filled me, but even more suprised that he had put in a 10cc band. Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

    Surgery in the Morning!

    Hope everything went well
  24. My advice is to slow down, as everyone else has said and chew chew chew. I count to about 26-30 with each tiny bite. I'm so scared of a PB it's sad....I bring a couple of the string cheeses to work with me and have them a couple hours before lunch and then a couple hours after. That way when I get home I'm not dying....my first thought on the way home from work is ooooh I'm so hungry I just want to eat eat eat, but then my mind kick in and says you'll feel full with a small amount, not a gorge like before. Good luck to you!

I came out of my little band closet

I think what you did is great. Personally, I'm not a closet bandster. My coworkers knew about my operation and were very very supportive. We are all really close so they celebrate the SV's and NSV's with me. I agree with the post above that you are her angel!!!
