  1. So i finally got a phone appointment with my case manager at Molina tomorrow! I also am starting my counseling next week. Weirdly my pcp referred me to the Oregon Weight loss surgery center(I live in Vancouver) but I see a lot of people went to Seattle area? Am I supposed to be staying in Washington? Also what is fast track? Thanks everyone

Don't be shocked if your case manager never called you. I had appointment for a call and no one did. It's not a part of your requirements so don't worry. Molina does not allow you to be fast tracked you have to go to every appointment that they want you to. Takes six months to finish all your appointments. I would try to go to whatever place is closest to your city/town. It's definitely a process. I finished all my six-month requirement appointments on February 28 and didn't have surgery until June 9.it's crazy how long things take but it's so worth it.

  2. I also have Molina in Washington. I'm a little bit more than halfway done. I should have everything finished by the end of February. Tomorrow I go for my upper endoscopy. Last week I had a upper G.I. and you also have to have a Manometry test. The test were assigned by UW weight-loss clinic they might also want a sleep study. I've met with Their social worker and nutritionalist. I didn't have to with their PT but you never know. Now I just need to finish up my appointments. Go for my test preview and my post op diet class then they'll send my approval back to Molina for surgery and then I'll get a date. you also have to make sure certain blood levels are normal. It's a lot but you just have to roll with the punches.

  3. I have Molina and had my surgery through UW 7/27/16. I had a very good experience with them and with the surgery.

    HW - 283

    SW- 238

    CW- ?

Comgrats! If you dont mind me asking. How long did it take for Molina to approve the surgery after your requirements were done and when it was approved how long did it take to get a surgery date?

  4. I am on Medicaid, my medical insurance offers a great preoperative program, it's 6 months and requires 12 appointments with a dietitian, 12 with a behavioral health therapist, and 12 with a physical therapist. I also have to see my PCP 6 times and lose 5% of my body weight. UW might have their own set of requirements, but my Medicaid insurance has prepared me pretty well. There is absolutely no fast tracking to have surgery, however participants may complete their appointments as they wish.

I must say, I've been well educated over the past few months, so no, you're wrong. It's not sad at all, I believe if you choose to have an elective surgery, you must also be willing to make changes and it is a patients responsibility to educate themselves if they choose to have bariatric surgery.

I completely agree with you. I'm in the same program you are. I got told flat out there is no fast tracking. You have to wait the 6 months and keep the weight off and do all your appointments with UW and your Molina/Medicaid required appointments.

thanks for the post. It's good to know that Medicade is making changes or maybe it's just I AM that is offering the same services to all Bariatric patients. Is the pre surgery at loss an insurance requirement? I thought my program uses the same protocol as WUM but the program doesn't h ave a pre surgery weight loss requirement. The NIH study showed that there was no long term benefit so now the surgeons just do the 2 week surgery prep diet.

You don't even make any sense. If you want to know about Molinas 6 month requirements you can call them directly. They might be able to help you, seems how I can't understand what you wrote.

Huh? I have no clue what that says.

  5. Same thing happened to me.. I left her a message and Carmen Rightmiyer called me.. shes a pleasant women..totally.. she apologized for not calling as I wasn't on the schedule for some reason and it was good. I try to be mindful of how many bariatric cases they are working on.. it has to be a ignorant amount. ya know. So its good to just follow up and be proactive as hell. They appreciate it also. <3

I spoke to Jennifer White.. she set up an appt. for me to talk to someone about entering a follow up type deal. Maybe that's a start for you when you call member services.

I do have a question for you guys though, I have not received monthly calls from a case manager at Molina. I've only talked to someone there 3 times about my stage two letter who works in the bariatric department and she told me I would hear from someone soon, but I never got a call. I know it's a requirement, but I thought it would be nice to still talk to someone to make sure that I'm doing everything right.

    I can & I will

That is typical, I had to call into Molina and ask who my case worker was and ask them to have her call me. She never did call, so I called back and they gave me a new case worker and that person has only called me once.

She scheduled to call me again this month, but missed the date. I will call and leave her another message to call me. It seems as if the case workers workload is so big, that they're overwhelmed and they are extremely hard to reach.

I would suggest calling Molina and getting that sorted out.

Thank you. I will definitely do that. I know they are extremely hard to get a hold of.

I will definitely call tomorrow and leave a message. I know they definitely are spread pretty thin with the caseload they have. It's frustrating for us and I'm sure it's frustrating for them as well.

  10. I'm hoping to have a sleeve gastrectomy at UW soon. I've completed all the tests and meetings with other team members. I did my final test review with the surgeon a couple weeks ago and I'm just waiting on insurance to give the okay. Its been slow but I did find the meetings with PT, social work and nutrition helpful. I think the worse part so far has been the esophageal manometry test. I could not stop swallowing and I think the tech was getting annoyed with me. I just keep telling myself it will all be worth it! :)

I I had that test today it was horrible. Tolerable, but horrible. The bumps on the tube were very uncomfortable. I'm trying to go to bed now with this stupid tube in my nose and it's very annoying. The people that worked with me today were very friendly. I have to go back tomorrow to get this one taken out. Thank God it's only for 24 hours.

  11. Oh my God I thought I was the only person who thought she was rude. I met with her last month. I have to go next week to do my acid reflux test the 24 hour one. December 1st I have to see their social worker, nutritionist and have my GI Imaging. I'm having a hard time getting my upper endoscopy appointment. I've called several times but the lady hasn't called back. I keep getting voicemail.
