    Exercising with kids

Incorporate your son into exercise. Dance parties, going for walks, playing at the park, tag, hide n go seek. Don’t have to be typical exercises to burn additional calories. Plus you are teaching him at a young age to live a healthy and active life style. Maybe one to two days a week you can get up 30 minutes earlier to work out in addition. It’s hard to juggle it all. I’m a full time working mom of 4. There are weeks where I have it all together and there are weeks where I suck at it all. Learn to extend yourself grace. Learn to cease what moments you have and let go of guilt. Part of being a good mom is taking care of Yourself. If you stay on your recommended eating plan you will continue to lose weight regardless of how much gym time you get.

    Couples WLS?

He doesn’t work out and has learned to eat around the sleeve. The surgery will only do so much in terms of weight loss for so long. I’m not perfect and will eat chips or candy here or there but 85-90% of the time I eat on plan and I work out hard 4-5 times a week for 1-1.5 hours. We had our 1 year post op class this week and it was an eye opener for him on just how little effort he put in and how he needs to re focus before it’s too late.

    Couples WLS?

My hubby and I had ours about 2 weeks apart. We could have had them 2 days apart but were hesitant- our case manager told us that we’d be fine 2 days apart but with 4 kids and Christmas time we didn’t want to both be down. We would have been fine with the 2 days apart and had no issues with the 2 weeks. It does make it easier to keep it close when it comes to food stages. We are now lil over a year out and I’m down 153 from my highest and about 10-20 pounds to my ultimate goal. Loving life in my new smaller body. Hubby hasn’t done as well as he didn’t work past what the surgery will do but he’s off his diabetes meds so that’s a success in itself.

    Sex

I had surgery on a Monday and was able to Wednesday. I had a pretty easy recovery - the surgery was a piece of cake after 4 c sections. I’m almost 11 months out now, down 106 since surgery and 147 from my highest and about 20 pounds from my goal with no regrets at all.

Tips for Disneyland & California Adventure Eating?

Disney parks allow outside food. You could pack your food. They also have a ton of options for all dietary needs. Even if you want fast food on the go you can always get their famous giant turkey leg. Just have someone to share it with.

    Fitness Trainers and WLS

I’m down 135 pounds. My heaviest was 323 pounds and I’m sitting at 188 right now. I still have a lot of fat to lose and I do have some loose skin. I have been working with a personal trainer for the last 3 months. I think working out does help with the appearance of loose skin. I definitely can see more tone and definition in my body and less of the hanging skin. The skin is still there and probably will always be but at least you can see my hard work under it.

Is Gastric Sleeve so much worse than csection?

I work from home. I took a week off. It wasn't the pain that would have made it hard to work it's being very sleepy/low on energy. I never took anything more than tylonel for pain once I got home the next day from the hospital.

Is Gastric Sleeve so much worse than csection?

I've had 4 c sections and my sleeve was a walk in the park. First 24 hours aren't fun with the gas but walk walk walk. My csection recoveries were much longer and harder.

    2 weeks no weight loss

I am about 5 months out. I have had more stalls than I wish to count. I lose for 1-2 weeks and stall for 2-3 weeks. With that said I'm still down 70 lbs since surgery. It's hard day to day or week to week. When you start looking month to month and can focus on the bigger picture it helps get through the stalls.

    DEPRESSED AND DISCOURAGED

What was your start weight? This is a good reminder of expectations as well. Many programs suggest eliminating protein shakes once you are on your normal diet cause they are high calorie. Don't be discouraged - it's a marathon, not a race. [emoji5]

    Easy way out ?

Not everyone has hunger go away after surgery. I'm constantly fighting the hunger both physical and head hunger. I have to make an effort every second of everyday to not give in to it. There has been nothing about this process that has been easy. It's really just a tool that only works as well as the operator knows how to use it.
  12. Each northern CA office is different. I went to Richmond and it took me 2 months from orientation to surgery.
  13. What Kaiser location? Each one is different.

    Sex after sleeve

I had surgery On a Monday and was ready to go and did on Wednesday. I was pretty lucky. Only took extra strength tylonel on the day I got home and nothing after that. It was a walk in the park for me after 4 c sections.

I'm at 41 pounds since surgery.

    slow weight loss

I was sleeved 1/9 and have been stalled at 241 for two weeks now. I feel like I only drop the weeks I can't eat. It really does mess with your head. It's normal to weigh more at the end of the day as well. I also know the more water I drink and pee the more I lose.

    RICHMOND, CA KAISER ANYONE?

@shaylady08 your dinner has to be consumed by 6pm the day before surgery. Then it's just liquids from 6pm and then nothing after 11pm (this time may be adjusted depending on the time of your surgery). When you call for your surgery time they go over all this.

19 Days Post Op Can't Eat

I was like that until between week 4&5. Dreaded eating. Even posted on here about that. It does get better. I'm 8 weeks out today and some days I feel like I eat a ton (relatively speaking) and some days where I struggle to get 2 bites down.

3 days out, remorseful, worried and depressed

I am 8 weeks post op today. The first 4 weeks were pretty hellish. Dealing with emotions, lack of energy, wanting to eat and not being able to, regret - all of it. Between week 4 & 5 things started to turn around. I haven't felt any regret or sadness since then. My energy is back with leaps and bounds. Just Friday I completed a difficult 10 mile hike. I'm down 70 pounds since October 24, 2016 when I started my pre op process.
  22. My hubs was sleeved 12/21 and we've noticed a big difference in all areas. I think is pretty normal perk of weight loss.

    RICHMOND, CA KAISER ANYONE?

Liz isn't all that bad once you break the ice. Make sure you've gone to support group and make sure you stick to the meal plan when she asks you about your breakfast lunch and dinner from the day before. I had surgery 1/9 and I'm down 70 pounds since my orientation 10/21.
  24. Haha. Well I had surgery Monday morning came home Tuesday- never took any prescription pain meds just Tylonel the first night home. By Wednesday night I felt pretty good and was ready. This was a walk in the park in comparison to my 4 c sections.
  25. My hubs was 12/21 and I was 1/9. We could have easily done it at the same time (and we have 4 kids). It was hard not being on the same page food wise for the first few weeks but now we are past that hurdle. We have both lost about 70 lbs since starting our pre op diets. It's been a blessing. I just did a 10 mile fairly difficult hike on Friday. Def couldn't have done that 70 lbs ago.
