    RICHMOND, CA KAISER ANYONE?

@shaylady08 no liquid diet. Your last meal has to be completed by 6pm day before surgery. They say "no last suppers". If you want an off plan meal I'd suggest doing it now and stick to plan until surgery. You have to be at or below goal or no surgery. That's about it.

    Sleeve 1/9 and HATE eating

I understand that but I need a light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes if you hear I had that experience as well and things turned around at X mark it helps you get through the hard times. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve 1/9 and HATE eating

I wonder how long it lasts until you start feeling better and can eat. My hubby says I'm just being dramatic - but his recovery has been easy peasy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve 1/9 and HATE eating

Did you have a hiatal hernia repair as well. Trying to see if that is the difference. My Hubby was sleeved 12/21 and can easily eat 1/2 cup of food since 2 weeks out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I am on soft foods but it's useless cause after 1-2 bites I'm miserable or it gives me diarrhea. I am having a hard time with fluids this week. Only getting 30-40 oz. I'm working out 4-5 days a week (was cleared for everything at my 10 day post op). I'm sooo tired though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Kaiser Bariatric Class

It was in front of the class but the line was set back so no one could see your weight. But each location does things differently. Richmond keeps the process moving. I had orientation 10/21 could have had surgery 12/19 but it was too close to my husband on 12/21 so mine was 1/9. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Kaiser Bariatric Class

Which Kaiser location? Each one is different. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I went through Richmond. They didn't give us any guidance on what to wear. Most remove shoes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. My husband was type two and was sleeved on 12/21. He has not taken metformin since two days before his surgery and was told to stop taking it leaving the hospital and not to restart unless his sugars were over 200. They stay in the 80-110 range. During the liquid stages he actually had issues with it dropping really low. His diabetes was under control. His last A1C before surgery was 5.1. He only took 1 time release (I think it was 800) a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Carafate

Yes it's part of my post op regimen. 4xs a day for 2-4 weeks and then as needed after. I HATE IT! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I was sleeved yesterday too with hernia repair. I walked like crazy in the hospital which helped. I don't like the way the narcotic pain medicine tastes or makes me feel so I've been using extra strength tylonel gel caps and the pain isn't bad unless I have a gas bubble and even then once it passes I'm fine. California friends

I'm in Nor Cal. Sleeved yesterday at Kaiser Richmond. Great program. Didn't have a 12 week class but they do have additional classes they have you take if you are having a hard time losing the weight they require pre surgery. My hubs and I started the process the same day and he was sleeved two months from the day we started and I was 2.5 weeks after him. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I went through Kaiser Richmond and orientation was 10/21 and my surgery is on Monday. It could have been 12/19 but my hubs was 12/21 and it was too close for us for comfort. Hindsight we would have been fine 2 days apart but didn't want to risk ruining Christmas for our 4 kids with both of us down. So all in all 2 months. We buckled down, followed the rules, lost the weight and went to all our appointments. I know Richmond has a very streamlined process now since they've been doing it for years. Question for diabetics

What do you do when your sugar is too low? My hubby has been off his medicine since the day before surgery. He was sleeved 12/21 and his sugar keeps going into the low 50's. He emailed his doctor and he's out on vacation and the doctor covering for him just told him not to take his medication, which he was already doing. He's still on full liquids and will just drink undiluted juice to bring it up. It's making him feel generally crappy though. Will this subside once he's back to food? 25. I am going through Richmond Kaiser. Each location is different in the process. I went to orientation 10/21 and my surgery is scheduled for 1/9. It could have been 12/19 but my husband was Scheduled for 12/21 and it was too close together for us logistically. We had to do the orientation, meet the surgeon, clear psych and meet our goal weight. (About 15 lbs to lose). If you aren't sticking to their diet plan or losing weight they make you take additional classes. Once surgery is scheduled you have two pre surgery classes. All relatively painless. Prepped us well. My hubby is 9 days post op. No complications and down 20 lbs already. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
