  1. I am a week post-op and after a rough three days of nausea and vomiting, I'm finally able to keep food down. However, I'm having major problems with getting in my daily alottment of Protein. After a few sips of anything, I am full. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get it all in. :(

Could some of you share what you eat during a typical day, and any helpful tips on how I can get more protein? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey guys.

I just wanted to share this with you all. My surgeon recommended the ProCare chewable vitamins because it's one a day and only other thing I'll need to take is a Tums a couple hours later.

I was advised to try some ahead of time to be sure I liked the taste. While looking on their site and getting ready to order... I saw they have a disclaimer to "try before you buy". No refunds/returns on opened bottles if you don't like the taste.

Nowhere did it say click here to request sample so I went to their "contact us" page and entered the required info and told them I was wanting to request a sample. They messaged me back the same day and in less than a week I had a package of several samples.

Just wanted to share if anyone was looking into ProCare supplements.

That is the link to the contact page.

I took a pic but I don't know how to upload it in the app. I'll try to get on the website and post it in the comments.

This is great! Thanks for sharing this information. Did you request samples of particular Vitamins or did they just send you a sampling of some of their products?

  3. During my six months of diet visits, I was told not to worry too much about losing weight but to focus on educating myself on the right foods to eat and how my diet would significantly change after the surgery. That being said, I ended up gaining 8 pounds and lost only 4 of them at my last weigh-in. :( I was pretty stressed and worried that my insurance would deny me but, thankfully, my surgery has been approved!! So if you have only maintained your weight, I'm sure you'll be in good shape!

I'm meeting with the surgeon on April 4 to find out my surgery date and am so excited!

Wishing you well on your journey! 2017 is gonna be our year!! :)

  4. That's great that you won't have to schedule two more appointments before your paperwork is submitted. I have BCBS, too, but had six months' worth of diet visits before everything was submitted.

Don't worry about gaining a few pounds. I did, too. Actually, I didn't lose any weight during the six months. I gained about eight pounds during this period and ended up losing four at the end, but my ending weight was still higher than my beginning weight. So when my paperwork was finally submitted on Friday, March 3, I was excited but also really worried about being denied. I was told it could take a few days or as long as a month to hear back from the insurance company, but I literally called BCBS every day to check the status of my paperwork. I finally received approval on Tuesday, March 14, so it only took about 1 1/2 weeks. I'll be meeting the surgeon in the next week or so to schedule a surgery date!

Have you tried contacting your insurance company? I found out I was approved by calling.. 3 days before my surgeon's office was notified. I know the waiting game at the end is frustrating!

    Good luck!

Yes, I literally called the insurance company every day to check my status! I was always nervous when I called but the anxiety of not knowing was so much worse.

  6. After reading so many posts about people getting approved for surgery, and hoping and praying my time would come, I can finally utter these words: I'VE BEEN APPROVED FOR SURGERY! :)

My paperwork was submitted to my insurance company 1 1/2 weeks ago and I've been stalkin' them every day with phone calls. LOL! This afternoon I called again and was told I was approved. Now I just have to wait for them to submit it in writing to the surgeon's office. I'm hoping my surgery can be scheduled for April or May.

I swear, I'm so excited and relieved, I can't contain myself! I feel so extremely blessed to be one step closer to my surgery date.

Good luck to everyone on your journey!

I finished my supervised diet and paperwork was submitted on 3/6. They told me it would be 2-15 business days, which seems like forever! Hopefully I will get an answer soon :).

Who's your insurance carrier? I was told it could take as long as 30 days to hear back from my insurance company (Anthem BCBS). :(

  8. My paperwork was submitted to insurance on Friday so I'm anxiously waiting, too. I've been on this road since September so I really want this. During my six months of diet visits, my end weight was 4 pounds higher than my starting weight, so I'm really worried I'll get denied because of that. :(

I keep telling myself, "If it's meant to be, it'll happen. There's a plan in everything, so don't stress over it." But I'm stressing and can't stop thinking about it! LOL! I want this surgery so badly. I hope we all get our good news very soon!!

  9. Oh, no! My surgeon's office just submitted my paperwork to the insurance company on Friday so I'm anxiously awaiting my approval now. So I can only imagine how you feel knowing that you've been approved but could also be denied.

In my opinion, if you were automatically denied, there's no way you would have an approval marked on your chart as well, so there must be a mix-up or question about something in your records. Here's hoping they reply to you soon with positive news!!

  10. I'm nervous, too. My last diet visit is in a few weeks but over the last 5 1/2 months, I really haven't lost any weight. Actually, I'm up about six pounds since my initial weigh-in. Whenever I'd ask my nurse about the number reflected on the scale each month, she'd say "Don't worry about losing weight, just focus on educating yourself on the right foods to eat following your surgery."

When I called my insurance company (BCBS) and asked if I was required to lose any weight during the six months, I was told no. But they didn't say anything about gaining weight. I'd hate to come this far and be denied over a few pounds. :( Guess I need to work hard these next few weeks to try to drop a few pounds, just to be on the safe side.

  11. Hello, all! I was just wondering ... after you took your tests and fulfilled all your requirements, how long did it take you to get approved? I have two more diet visits remaining, which means Dr. Weiss will submit my info for insurance approval in mid-March. I was told that BCBS could take as long as 30 days to approve my surgery, and then it could take an additional 60 days for me to get a surgery date from Dr. Weiss. I was so surprised to hear this. :( Does that sound right to you guys?!
