I'm 9 days post-op bypass. Yesterday I had my 1 week appt and I'm down 23 lbs [emoji4] I haven't been this weight in about 10 years. I'm already very excited that I went through with it!
I'm mostly meeting liquid and protien goals, walking my 10k steps/ day, and dr cleared me to ride my beach cruiser on flat trails.

Hi all, I'm having my DS surgery on 7/23 and I'm looking for a food processor that can puree meat post op, as I'd like to experiment with a few different recipes so i won't be bored.
    Any ideas?

I agree that you probably have lost inches.
Do your clothes fit a little different??
The first place I actually noticed loss was in my face when I had sleeve surgery almost 3 years ago now.

    Hey,
I lost 87 lbs with my sleeve surgery so I didn't think it was a mistake.
Actually had np with surgery or after initial surgery.
Only problem I have had is my reflux is so much worse than it was before.
My gastrointestinal doctor and my surgeon have agreed that I should of had the RNY to begin with.
I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning at 8 am. Hopefully it will be successful and I can stop being miserable due to the reflux.
Everyone is different so don't worry about what has happened to others.
You do what your doctor's and nutritionist says and walk a lot. Then put exercise routine of some kind every day. YOUR GOING TO DO GREAT. Looking at negative results will not help your journey.

    Thanks for the encouraging words.

Hi y’all! Fair warning, I’m posting PUI (posting under the influence) right now! 😳🥳🤩🤪🥰😂🤣😅😇
Seems I had a serious case of the fomos this week with @GreenTealael having her upcoming VSG to RNY surgery for GERD and @Alex Brecher having his RNY reversal for bowel obstructions/necrosis. I just had to wrap up a pending tri-fecta! LOL
What I thought was a serious case of food poisoning — or as I like to say, “When good refrigerator roulette goes bad”...was actually a sudden onset of internal hernia with twisted gut. It came on so quickly Sunday night and by Tuesday I couldn’t eat. And Wednesday ended up curled up on a cold tile (filthy) floor in the ER convinced I was dying, moaning, sweating profusely and making quite a spectacle! My only regret is I didn’t have a tip jar handy to earn a few quarters!!
It’s a risk of WLS that is part of less than 3% total for complications after surgery—so no need to fear complications from WLS. To put in perspective that 3% is lower than the national averages for all sorts of surgeries!!!
I’m 17 months out from RNY and was just so super surprised by this new development! But initial surgery went very well! I went into surgery at 12 midnight and was back in my room after recovery by 3:45am! Woot! I have a rockstar surgeon and team who were able to do it all laporoscopically!
She said if I play my cards right and am able to eat something later today and get my walking in that I can probably go home late this afternoon! Yeah, baybee!!!
Now I just have to proactively start medicating to guard against having a Rosemary’s Baby sort of post op poo! 😞😥
i’m so grateful to everyone and for our Bariatric Pal Family! Thanks Alex for creating such a special place!
(Oh and I don’t recommend doing it this way, but this morning was back to being only 3.4lbs away from final Goal #3 of 130lbs!!! Woohoo! With my post op plan progression in place I expect to shed this post surgical Fluid weight gain in a couple of weeks and reach Goal #3!)

I am a VSG to RnY revision but not because my VSG failed me, because of GERD. I didn’t hit my weight goal but I lost 47% of my excessive weight and maintained until my revision. I do know I learned a lot between surgery 1 & 2 and my biggest take away is my surgery didn’t fail me but I definitely failed my surgery. Your tool, or whatever you call it, doesn’t decide what you eat or when you eat. It doesn’t choose to drink while eating or to graze. You get out of it what you put into it.

I have met a few people that have gotten revisions but most people i've met that got the sleeve are happy with it (but so are pretty much most of the people that have gotten the bypass too).

🔼🔼🔼🔼 Everyone is spot on 🔼🔼🔼🔼
    Additional things to consider:
Who exactly is saying it's a waste of time? What evidence is provided?
(You can't get positive feed back from negative/biased sources)
Why are you worried you chose the wrong surgery?
(Complications can happen with any surgery, some cannot be avoided despite the best preparations)
A conversion conversation is best between you and your surgeon. IMHO It should also be medically necessary not fear based since you are only 2 weeks post op.
Get Well Soon & Good luck 💜

I don't know why people are saying this (do they really? never saw this). However, there are quite a few that get conversions to bypass because of reflux complications.

I had the sleeve 11 months ago. I reached my goal weight and then lost an additional 15 pounds. I have 3 friends that all decided to get the bypass and all three still struggle to get to their goal weight.
But the surgery isn't the only difference between us. They get doctored up coffees at Starbucks. One still eats rice multiple times a week and has no plans to stop. I don't have an exact copy of the food logs but I do see what they post on Facebook occasionally for meals and its definitely not the kind of diet I'm following.
Both surgeries should be used as TOOLS to help you establish a healthier lifestyle. If you use it as the tool it is and follow a healthy diet you should be able to lose the weight you want with either surgery.

Good luck with your journey and your surgery. My best friend has been 2 ltrs.of diet Pepsi every day.
My biggest concern is that I can't drink before, during or right after eating. Not sure how we are going to accomplish taking so long to eat so little food at each meal knowing that it's going to be cold way before you get finished.
Surgery is scheduled for July 16th

I'm going to have RNY revision surgery from the sleeve surgery (three years ago October 25th due to severe reflux disease getting worse) on July 16th.
    Hopefully this will be successful.

Yeah my surgeon knew I had reflux but said he thought sleeve surgery was the best thing for me. Ummm no, he could not of been more wrong.
But I know that anyone else who has it should never choose sleeve surgery because what I have discovered is that the acids have nowhere to go but back up.
With the RNY revision surgery they bypass the small intestine so the acids and foods can't go back up.
Im only 8 days from the surgery now.
I will post after my surgery.
    Good luck

My severe reflux disease went from me taking 2 pills a day, to now almost 3yrs later taking a total of 10 pills a day, zofran for nausea and a GI cocktail 3 times a day after the sleeve surgery.
So am going to be having revision surgery from the sleeve to RNY to hopefully get rid of the reflux.
I had hernia repair when I had sleeve surgery and apparently it's reopened as well.
