Call the surgeon on-call. This is not something to mess around with. If you can't reach the Dr go to the ER.

allies journey got a reaction from fancypants11578 in Got approval today
I was praying for early approval, got mine 12 days after Dr.submitted paperwork but now 5 wks wait for surgery. But good luck to all of you and I know too well the grief of losing your loved ones. I have lost 5 siblings, a niece and both parents all since 2000 and the fear of not being here for my own children and grandchildren is what keeps me focused on the way I have to take care of myself.
I am 61 and plan to reach 90.
That being said focus on the positive side of the effects the surgery is going to have on your life, be strong and determined to gain and keep control of your life and health. .

Hey, I know the fear, but the fear of growing older, larger, and having more and more health problems like diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, etc. is much scarier. I had all these problems. There are people here who have had the sleeve several yeas ago. My surgery was three years ago. You will know when you are ready, and until then, good luck!

allies journey reacted to leebick in I THOUGHT I was sleeved...
On the day after surgery, my surgeon came in and said surgery went well, and then talked to me about non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which she discovered during surgery. She wanted to make sure I understood what it meant because it is in the surgical notes and she didn't want it to be a surprise, and also the causes and how to deal with it. She checked around my incisions, which are covered with steri-strips. On the next day, when I was discharged, she wasn't on call (it was a Saturday) but the covering physician came in and talked about the dietary requirements, exercise, and what to watch for in case my incisions became infected. I don't recall either of them mentioning bypass or sleeve, to be honest.
I know my surgeon knows I wanted the sleeve. She even asked me why I'd changed my mind from the first meeting, to do the sleeve instead of the bypass. However, when the admissions nurse called me 2 weeks before the surgery, she said "bypass" and I said no, sleeve. She laughed slightly and said, "better change that!" or something to that effect. When I checked into the hospital on 9/15, I don't remember the admitting nurse mentioning the procedure at all; I just gave her my name and said I was scheduled for surgery with Dr. T at 7:30am and she started asking me to sign on the electronic pad for permission to treat and HIPPA. I just realized I didn't read the HIPPA form because I know what it says, but I didn't read the permission to treat form- in fact, none was offered and I was so anxious I didn't think to ask to read it. Honestly, I just remembered this as I was typing NOW, and I know it was stupid not to ask for the paperwork. The admitting nurse never offered paperwork, just said, "Please sign the pad for permission to treat, and again for HIPPA." And I don't remember anyone in pre-op asking what I was in for, just my name and birthdate, and they scanned my Bracelet before they did each IV line and before giving me the pre-op meds. I guess bypass would be OK except it's NOT what I wanted, for what I think are very sound reasons. I'm sure it's just a paperwork error. Oh crap.

Gosh! Please let us know after you speak with your surgeon.
I too hope it was only a computer entry mistake, but you have to know for sure.

Oh my! I would definitely be surprised at that as well! It's probably just a paperwork error, like you said, but I would call for sure for clarification. In the meantime, I hope you are recovering well!

I had sleeve surgery on 9/15. This was the 3rd attempt to actually get to surgery; the first scheduled appointment was cancelled because I was sick and the second appointment had to be postponed due to a family emergency. When I had originally met with the surgeon, I said I wanted a bypass but changed that via email and phone call within 2 days, and for the 2nd and 3rd surgery, we've always talked sleeve. Well, I just thoroughly read my hospital discharge papers and it says Procedures Performed: Gastric bypass! Guess I'll be calling someone tomorrow for clarification! I'm pretty sure it's just a paperwork error, but the discharge papers are printed out from the hospital's computerized records. Hmmm...

Call your surgeon? If things are getting worse rather than better, check in with your medical team.

Greay idea!! I would love to be apart of this thread. I was sleeved on Sept. 2nd I didn't have the gas pains, but for the 1st 3 days I had left shoulder and neck pain. My chest and throat had the flem feeling. It was so hard to cough!! Not sure if that was from the trach tube or I had an upper hiatal hernia repair.
I was on Clear Liquids for the 1st 6 days and HATED the liquid protien drinks. I was lucky if I got 30g a day. Yesterday I said screw it, I want a real protien shake & had no problem drinking 12oz of my powdered chocolate Isopure with Water 50g of protien. It was delicios!! It took about 3 hours to drink it. I'm feeling great I'm down 6 lbs from surgery date. Good luck Ya'all!!

That first stall is the worst. At least it was for me because I had failed in so many previous weight loss attempts that my confidence that the surgery would work for me was low. But after 2-3 weeks the scale started to move again. After the first 2 weeks after my surgery when I was on Clear Liquids only and lost 20 lbs. I am now losing an average of 1-2 lb per week. After 8 weeks I am down 28 lbs and weigh less than I have in 26 years!

kudos for following the Protein, Water, etc rules
"we all lose weight in different time periods"
"one thing we have in common, is that we're all different"
OP that start with a large #, tend to lose a lot of weight at the beginning
especially men - those fiends!!
that's great that you lost 6 lbs in the first week
no loss 2nd week+, disappointing sob sob
this does happen
eating as few calories as you do
the weight must come off, inches too
"God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It"
a stall does NOT mean one week
a stall is at least 3+ weeks
i'm betting you will win
better yet - "lose"!!
good luck bud
you'll do great!!
