  1. I'm 10 months out and here's a typical day for me:
    Bfast: Premier Protein shake
9am: Greek yogurt with couple of grapes
    Lunch: half an Atkins meal
    PM Snack: cup of coffee
Dinner: 2-3 oz mahi and asparagus

If I'm low on Protein I'll supplement with a little GENEPRO. I always get in at least 125 oz (about a gallon) of Water each day. I'm still not hungry most of the time so I have to make myself hit the daily goals.
I'm currently down 95.5 lb and am losing 5-7 lb/ month. I have 30 lb to goal weight.
    Stats:

    CW 200.0 (almost there!!)

  2. after 3 months vsg...I am sluggish, sleepy...I feel wiped out after November 14th surgery...but it just started like a week ago...can't keep my eyes open...

Me too! I've been going to bed by 8pm and sleeping until 5:30!! Sunday, I took a 3 hour nap and STILL went to bed at 7:30 without trouble. My surgery was also 11/14 and I have a follow up with my surgeon to review labs. I'll definitely be discussing with him.

  3. I had VSG on 11/14 @ 7:30 am. I dealt with quite a bit of gas discomfort and nausea in recovery. I received meds to treat that. (Keep in mind, I had to comprehension of time for several hours, lol) Also, when I got up to walk the first time, I was HORRENDOUSLY nauseated. Again, got more meds and that knocked it out. By 1pm I was up in bed eating ice chips and sipping Water. By 1:30 I was walking around the nursing unit. By 3:30 I was discharged and at 4, I was picking my kids up from daycare (with my husband).

After the initial nausea/gas pain was resolved, I had a text book perfect recovery. I'm glad I could sleep in my own bed that night! =)

  4. I've been doing the standard insurance required hoop jumping since June...

I have Humana National POS, which required 1 nutrition visit with an RD, and 3 additional weight loss visits. My plan stated the 3 WL visits could be done with an MD, NP, PA, CNM/OB, or RD. My surgeon's office employees an RD, so for convenience I stayed there. Luckily, I could do the nutrition visit and first WL visit on the same day. The ironic thing about these WL visits was that I couldn't lose weight bc the RD was afraid I would not be approved. My starting BMI was 41.

I also had to have 9 labs (cbc, hgb a1c, H pylori, tsh, cmp, Vitamin D, iron/tibc, and lipids), an EKG, upper GI and psych eval.

I finished my last RD visit on 9/16, was submitted to insurance on 9/20. They told me it would take ~ 2-4 weeks to receive approval, but I received word I was approved in less than 20 hours on the 21st!!! Couldn't believe it. The coordinator said my chart would then go to the finance manager and I'd hear from the surgery scheduler by the beginning of next week. Imagine my surprise when she called me less than 24 hours later!

I just knew that I'd get a date someone in October since everything was going so quickly... I was pretty disappointed when she told me the earliest date I could have surgery was 11/14. Apparently, my surgeon usually does surgery at Emory most days, and only comes to my hospital once a month...October is already booked.

Nonetheless, it's okay!! I'll just have a bit longer to lose as much as I can before surgery =)

I've been quite the lurker and this is my first post. I'm usually pretty quiet =)
