a lot of people expressed to me dismay over cutting out a "perfectly healthy organ" but to me my system was not perfectly healthy. I was hungry all the time. it would take me 3 or 4 times the amount of food I should have been eating just to feel satisfied. I don't know - in time, science may reveal causes of obesity - but in the mean time I have to live and be as healthy as I can. the surgery gave me that
now my diabetes is GONE. and a normal child size portion satisfies me. completely satisfied. with a normal amount of food. I have never lost the weight before, and it feels wonderful all the changes in my body.
I can't say if it is right for you, but most of us only feel like we should have done it sooner. Keep searching your heart and see whether you are ready for this or not.

    Isn't medical science amazing?
When we have a blocked artery, we can have the artery opened up with a stent or balloon with heart surgery.
When a woman laboring is having problems delivering, putting her and her baby's life in danger, she can have a c-cection.
When we get cancer, we can have helpful but toxic drugs pumped through our bodies to fight it and hopefully put it in remission.
When we've tried every diet under the sun and completely screwed our metabolisms up, or we have physical issues that make it almost impossible to lose or keep weight off, we can have bariatric surgery.
No, medical intervention isn't always the way it's "meant" to be, but sometimes it's necessary.

I finally decided in April it was time to make the change I knew I had needed for many years! I made the appointment to see a surgeon at our local Bariatric center. Went and got all the info I needed and then some! Of course the doctor dropped a bombshell on me! They do not do surgery on anyone over 450 pounds. That day I weighed 520 on their scales. My insurance requires 6 months of monthly weigh in appointments. So I had 6 months to lose 70 pounds. I thought I had went their in hopes of surgery to help me lose the weight! So with some help of some prescriptions from him and a lot of will power I have been exercising at least every other day if not more and eating much less and much more healthier meals. Making sure I get in all my Protein that I will need after my surgery. In July alone I lost 45 pounds. As of today I currently weigh 417 and hope to be under 400 by the time of my surgery. Last weekend we had my youngest sons adoption party and I was 2 jean sizes and 2 shirt sizes down from where I started. When my wife showed me these comparison pictures from when my journey started until now and it was the first time I really realized that you could tell how much I have lost already! Can't wait for my last weigh in Sept 13 so I can get my surgery date!!!

Good for you. I am glad you are being proactiv. I get so annoyed when people say things like "You are not that big, why are you getting surgery?". In my mind I'm thinking "I have the fat gene and I may not look that big to you now but I know where my weight can go and I want to get ahold of this before I get to 3-400 pounds and cant get out of bed". Ok end of rant lol. Congrats!!! Sent from my SM-G925T using the BariatricPal App
