  1. Lynn I'm getting both of my sags fixed too. Insurance is covering the lower one and a hernia repair. I am self pay for the upper sag. That part is costing me almost $4000. I never expected it to cost that much extra, but no way do I want to go through this again so I'm paying it now because I know I won't be satified to have a extra roll on top.

I have 6 days left and I am so scared. I had my physical and blood work done already so just counting the days now>

My surgeon said it usually takes a few tried to get it approved by isurance, but my lower sag is also covered. He said he would not charge more than what my insurance would pay. Said I worked hard enough to lose the weight he does it all for the insurance payment....hope he is right, would be a nice thing not to have to self pay for part, but I am willing to do that...

Now I am getting in contact with PCP and lap band surgeon for thier letters for insurance..same hoops to go through as with lap band surgery, but hopefully the wait is not as long.

Can't wait to hear how your surgery goes.

  2. visited a plastic surgeon yesterday! He was very thorough in his explanation of the procedure and recovery and what to expect with the results. He was much more informative than the DR I had a consult with before. Now just a few letters about my sagging skin from my lapband surgeon and my PCP. then wait for decision of insurance company, since they do pay for the lower section, but I have 2 sags. my upper and lower stomach as I call them!!!

can't wait to hear about your tummy tuck. I go for a plastic surgery consult on 6/10

  4. It is interesting to hear the difference in everyone's post surgery diet.

I had 2 weeks liquid, 10 days mushie, 10 days soft, then on to "regular foods in small quantities. And even now I will throw in a day of shakes as a boost to lose.

Everyone has a different weight loss.. 1, 2 maybe 5# a week, especially in the beginning. I then leveled off to average 2# per week. Battling my last 20# right now, but am so happy with my progress 15 months out.

going to the plastic surgeon this week for a consult on a Tummy Tuck. I look like I have an upper and a lower stomach.. and at 57 there is little elasticity left to the skin, especially after being so stretched out.

Welcome to all the new bandsters. join in ask question, give opinions, we are all here for each other through the good and the bad;

  5. Oreo - thinking of you and your DH. Good things are in your future. But think of the memories you have as you clean things out. After so many years in one place it is amazing what you find and remember. Even when I moved I thought I had gone trough everything, but when I was getting settled in my new place realized there was more to remember. Thinking of you and only good thoughts

  6. So I went to the doctor today. She took out 1 cc from my 14cc AP band. I almost went into a panic, so afraid I'll start to overeat, but am determined to stick to it. She advised liquids for another day or so and slowly work back to solids. I go back on June 19.

She said with the episodes of PBing I had most likely swollen the opening of the pouch, making almost everything I eat get stuck. Even though I would have only liquids for at least a day after each incident.

So I will take my Protein in liquid, soft and regular foods over the next few weeks until I go back. Kind of like doing the pouch test....Maybe, I'll even begin to lose weight again.

  7. Lynn, I think if it was me I would check to see if I could get in to see the doctor a little sooner. If it's happening a lot and you are eating small bites and slowly, it is worrisome. It can't hurt to have it checked out, especially since you are scheduled to see him this month anyway. Explain the situation to the scheduler and see what they have to say...

I called my doctor today and spoke with the nurse. I go in tomorrow afternon. Better to check things out than wait another 3 weeks..

Today I had maybe 2 oz of salmon, and a little spring mix lettuce and was full, but did not feel that stuck, tightness I have recently. still sticking mainly with liquids, will wait and see what Doctor says tomorrow

  8. Lynn

What size were the bites (eraser size) did you chew well - and yes stress can make your band tighter - also they are very fickle - some days it seems like I can eat too much and think I need a tweak - then bam - I'm tight again...

What kind of fish ?? what did you have before the fish..

small bites,m aybe not eraser size. tuna and salmon, very moist, melted in m mouth, had a few veggies along with it

I sticking with liquids and soft food for the next few days.

  9. I need help!!!!

not sure if it is an issue or not.

I can eat a few bites and feel terrible pain. I went to dinner last night and ate 5 bites of fish. and bam.. felt miserable. This has been happening alot lately. I go to the DR on June 19. Should I be concerned? OR is it just the stress of my job that is getting to the band. It was a very nice dinner with my boyfriend, no stress at all...

Any input, ideas, help is welcome

  10. Hi Everyone,

I am being banded tomorrow, really scared and nervous. At the risk of sounding stupid, what is a PB?

    Thanks.

Pb -productive burp. brings up anything stuck

sliming - excess saliva build up with a near stuck incident or similar.

I seem to be having majot issues with these lately.. Not sure why. but no matter how little I eat I get that tightness and feel miserable for about an hour.

Next Dr. appointment is June 19 and I have not had a fill in quite awhile

  11. Good call, JulieJulie!

Exciting possibilities here. DH is talking to two companies. One job would take us to northern CA, the other to the Cincinnati area. We have been in this house for 32 years, so we are determinedly sorting our mass of stuff. It's a huge job. The other question is, how do you get 8 cats across the country in the summer? Keep in mind they don't all like each other. I have two that don't mix with the others or with each other. Yikes!

This week I go in for blood work for my surgeon, next week a badly needed fill.

8 cats, if driving loooks like travel crates may be an option, if flying, they will have to be in travel crates.

My brother is in cincinnati, lovely area where he is.

    Good luck to your DH

I moved after 25 years in the same house, my goodness, you never know how much you have collected until you are preparing to move. I had my trash company meda at me for all the stuff I put out each week, and goodwill gots LOTS of donations..

    Good luck

  12. Susan---I really think my pain is due from the rotater cuff. I can only move my arm in certain ways. No matter what the reason is for the pain, I have to find out and get it fixed. Seems that when I turned 50, I just started falling apart. Hopefully with the exercise(Zumba) or whatever I have to do, I will get healthier, stronger, and feel better about myself. Thanks for responding to my post.

Judy---I bet you feel a 110% better if you have taken those bandages off. I am so happy for you. People will not even recognize who you are. What fun! I know you are eager to get back to Zumba and all the other exercises. I may look into Water aerobics, too. Texas gets really HOT during the Summer and I would welcome the water. Has anyone heard from Joanne? I'm not sure how long she was going to be gone. Talk to you all soon---- :scared2:

rotator cuff, injury.... just found out that is what I have....waiting to see if the cortisone shot works to give me some relief and let it heal on it's own. I keep hearing the recovery from surgey is very painful

  13. I was wondering if any of you are in any type of exercise program belong to a gym or go to curves. i thought about curves but felt i wouldn't like being locked into the program having to use the same machines and order over and over again. i decided to join a gym. Haven't had my initial session yet. can't wait. i must jumppstart my metabolism again and get back on the wt. loss wagon. it seems the closer you get to goal the harder it is to lose. i feel at the gym exercising with others I will stay motivated. also i can vary the program to keep from getting bored. Wish me luck.

I have been a member of both Curves and the gym. I enjoyed the gym, because of more variety. but unfortunately, due to the econimic times, dropped the gym membership and find it hard to get motivated to exercise on my own

  14. Looks like plateau is common at this time for many of us. I have bben at a standstill for 5 months..UGH/..o frustrating, but I know I am at a great place now, but want to lose that last 20#..

So much stress at work, which is an issue. I have always been a stress eater and this is top of the pile for my issues now. I survived the layoffs, but we are down 50% in our support staff and no reduction in duties..;)

I knw the next few months will be crazy and am trying to get a grip on my stress eating..

  15. Well, two days from cruise day....can't believe it's here!

I haven't lost any more weight, but haven't gained any either.....I'd hoped to be a little lower by cruise time, but I'm happy.

A lot going on with me, hoping things settle down soon. I am looking forward to the DOWN TIME on the beach!

I'll be back with a positively annoying amount of pictures in about ten days!

    Enjoy and relax

  16. Once again, so totallt frustrated. no change, up or down. go back to Dr mid June. I do not need a fill as I feel great restriction, think I need a swift kick in the pants..more exercise and less stress at work.. other than that, no idea why I am having no progress

  17. I have been measured several times, at several different stores. I have even been measured in several states! I am a 38 B right now.

I swear men make and design bras and they don't think of comfort when they do this. I have one old one that is made out of a very comfortable material. I can't find it anymore.

    It's by Warner's and it's called "friday's bra"

I hope I don't lose anymore weight in my boobs. They are deflated enough.

I went to Vicky Secrets and got measired, and sur enough the wrong size for me. I was wearing a 44D... measured a 38C fits great. I bought the full coverage style, best money I have spent..

Now I found Bali's bra, is is softer and moves better than the Vicky Secret bra. same basic style, but feels more a part of me than something on me!! if you get what I mean!!!

  18. I was approved for a panniectomy and to have a hernia repaired. I still didn't tell him I was doing it for sure, but I think I will. I have asked for a second appointment to ask more questions and find out more of what they plan on doing. I feel really scared but also excited.

I have been told I would be able to have the panniectomny covered by insurance, but know I will also need more. I seem to have 2 bellies. One that hangs low and then the mid section roll. I will need a total Tummy Tuck to get that taken care of, but knowing that the cost of the procedure will be partially covered is a blessing..

I am going to make an appt with a 2nd plastic surgeon and get their input before I make a final decision

  19. Good to be back! Hope everyone is well and happy. I have maintained my weight loss since Oct....and I am feeling healthy and strong. I have never regretted the band for one second!

Next Monday (4/27) I am going to have plastic surgery and I am nervous!!! I am having an arm lift and while I am under, I thought, why not have the girls lifted? Thank goodness, my stomach came back to "flat."---well, flat for a middleaged gal!

Anyone get their arms done? Would love to hear your stories, comments, etc.

    Judy

I am looking forward to a Tummy Tuck, I was not as fortunate to get back to a somewhat flat area. In fact it looks like ihave 2 stomachs, a lower (apron) and an upper. Have gotten my quotes and sen the surgeon, just waiting to make appointment to get it done, sometime before October, I hope

Look forward to hearing how things progress in your recovery..

  20. Elayne- looks like you are right on track with your post-op. Green is good, and itshing is common, I felt like itching all the time. The surgi-strip over the stitches were a mess and couldn't wait for them to fall off. I admit, I did give them a little help after the first week..

Great to hear things are going well
