    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

All drains out, some really bad pain in lower back, probably bruising from the lipo..otherwise healling fairly well. a slight infection in one incision on upper thigh, so :crying:back on keflex Not sure getting back to work on Aug 24 will happen, still lots of discomfort sitting upright..probably going tohave DR give approval for half days the first few days back..I really though 3 1/2 weeks would be enough time for recovery

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Corliss, congrats on getting your nursing degree. And working rings around the younger set.. I know our work ethic as older people in the work force is so much different from those younger. I see it a work myself and want to scream. These younger kids don't know what a hard day of work really is!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

back on antibiotics. chance of an infection at part of the incision, so better to be cautious and treat before anything serious occurs. otherwise doing better. still sitting and relaxing alot, legs elevated and a bit reclined. such is the life !!! Splurged today and bought some new shirts for work.. everthing I have is for my flabby stomach, butt and back, so decided I needed to have something to wow them with when I go back to work!! definitely glad I decided to go ahead with all the work..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I am about 20 # over my original goal, but realized I was happy at this weight so went ahead with the PS. Still have to find out how much weight was "cut off" at surgery..along with the lipo..Right now the itching around the stitches is driving me crazy. Last drain to be removed tomorrow..yippee. still lots of swelling to deal with, but improving everyday. I found each PS i went to had different ideas on the best process for surgery. What to do, How much and recovery time. I was told if all was good getting back to work after 2 weeks would be ok. Heck no. I can't sit upright in a chair for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. and my job is a desk job. So if all goes well back to work on Aug 24. depending on DR appt next week, maybe half days the end of next week. Time will tell. but do not want to rush anything as I usually have a tendency to do. Better to take the extra time than chance any kind of relapse

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I was also going to suggest the "five day pouch test". I know several have used it as a boost or a tool to get back in touch. I have struggled for a few months and maintianed and gained. no big loss. I went ahead with my TT and thigh lift, almost 2 weeks post-op. I admit I may have rushed it, but am satisfied where I am and felt the "improvement" in my flabby appearance was a boost I needed. Like all surgeries the recovery sucks.. but we can heal, move forward and improve our life. Good luck to all the knee replacements. I know the knees and back seem to be the main issues with the excess weight. We all are moving forward and improving ALL aspects of our lives. Things just keep getting better

went to the DR today. 4 of the 5 drains were removed. What a sensation!! Able to move a bit easier without the octopus appendages of those drains. Trying to be good and not do too much too soon.. of course, still lots of swelling, The overall changes I can see already are amazing. Jusy gonna take recovery as it goes. but feeling good

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

being able to sit on the floor and play with my grandson, almost 4 years old, is so much fun. Without the band there is no way I would be able to be doing that. I am so greatful for where I am now and how my life bhas changed for the better. now re-couperating from TT and thigh lift. Ten day post op. Slow going but glad I did it.

Good Luck with your surgery, all will go well. All I want now is to have these drains removed, then I will be able to get some regular clothes on and get out of the house. recovery is a trip. some days better than others.

3 drains for the tummy and one for each thigh. Drains are having less and less each time I check them./ hoping to lose them all at appt later this week. I kept forgetting to ask DR about how much the skin weighed and will try to remember when I see him this week. Still only walking around the house. hard to get clothes on with the drains.. so just in the oversized t-shirts for now!!! keeping to mostly liquids and soft foods. with tightening of the muscles and swelling the band had reacted also. but every day is an improvement.. So happy I went through with both the tummy and thighs

surgery was between 5 and 6 hours. First days were a bit rough, Surgery was Wednesday and I was home Friday before lunch. 5 drains.. and plenty of meds. not light headedness, which is good.l doing some stairs, but very sowly. Dr. appt end of week to remove some drains. not sure all will be removed but some for sure. Mt daugher and boyfriend are my main care givers. It does help that my daughter is a nurse and Randy, well it is just night to lnpw he cares enough to be there for me Each day movement gets easier. getting out of bed and chair is still tough and will be for a bit. Glad I had the thighs done at the same time as the tummy circumference.. not sure I would go back for a second round!!. lots of little naps and short walks..

painfree thoughts are welcome. I know it will be painful, but the results will be worth it. Just want to get through work on Tuesday. It has been crazy and stressful.. only 8 hours at the office to go. Today a 10 hour day.. and got nearly nothing accomplished.. looking forward to the time off, just to get out of that place for a bit!

I will have the muscles tightened. The docotr deals with alot of weight loss & lapband patients, even my surgeon said he knows what to do with the port. so I am confident about that. As for my legs, I figured once the tummy weas done they would look out of proportion, so am getting them done. Also only in pain once instead of going back for more later ... I was told because of my age the tummy would not, could not/most likely be as tight as I would expect..age and elasticity of skin are that issue, but as long as the flb is gone. My TT will include some lipo sculpting as well. Total cost for circumference TT and thighs, including overnight in hospital, anesthesia and whatever is needed while there, plus 1 year follow up with the plastic surgeon.. just about $15,000. My daughter will be my nurse for the first 3-4 days I am home.. As well as the TLC of my gentleman friend!!! 11:30am on Wednesday...

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

We have all had our struggles, whether personal, work related or for whatever reason. I am like so many others a stress eater. and work right now is STRESSFUL. but managing it fairly well. Harley - sounds like you are handling things well. When my ex and I divorces we shared the house for 6 months, until his new place was avaibale. we are now better friends than we were spouses. I even get together with his girlfriend's family for holiday's. My 2 girls are also included and it goes very well. Who would have thought that Scrappy. My surgery is Wednesay. Total circumference bosy tuck and my thighs. After looking at my legs I decided to get that taken care of too. I plan on getting back to work after 3 1/2 weeks. My DR finally said that "may" be possible. I do have a desk job, so it may be feasible, but I am not going to rush things. Work is too stressful these days to go back too early and slow recovery. Hoping for a somewhat speady recovery.. Looks like a very hot week ahead for me here in Delaware. Crank up the AC. Enjoy the weekend everyone

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Surgery is here in DE. I called the surgeons office yesterday hopinf to add my thighs to the procedures that day. Had second thoughts about not getting them done. Unfortunately no time on his schedule that day to add on and I do not want to wait another month to reschedule. I see him for pre-op on Thursday and will ask him once again/ maybe he will be a kind sole and find a way to add it on! but do not want him to rush to get it all done if time is not there. it would be an additional $4,000 for the thighs Lucky 7's enjoy Cnada..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I was told the drains would be in about 2 weeks, of course it all depends on my body and how it heals. I do have a desk job so if i just go back to work part time that is ok by me. I am not going to rush it. We are down 75% of our work staff, lay-offs, so they are anxious for me to get back soon!!! The total cost of the circumference body lift/tuck, with hospital saty over night, anesthesia, plus 1 year follow up is just under $11,000. It is a bite to take, but am so tired of the rolls-front and back. I discussed getting my thighs done too, but a scar down the inside of my thigh was not appealing and it was an additional $4,000. I am in the hospital over night. My daughter is a nurse and other friends have already dealt with the drains, so I am well cared for in that respect. My tummy before pictures are horrendous, looking forward to some major inprovement..but not expecting a totally tight result, with age and loss of skin elasticisty I was told it will not be teenager tight..:cursing:. but that is ok with me!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I am having the circumference procedure done. TT, back, butt: all lifted and skin cut off, and some lipo. all in one.. Figure if I am paying the bill I might as well do all at once. I am taking 3 1/2 weeks off of work. At least that is what I have scheduled. It will pretty much depend on how well I heal.. Went to my Dr. today, she said no fill, especially since I am planning the surgery.. I agreed. So will go back to her in 2 months..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

TGIF !!! Been a long, hectic week. Lots of stress and that does not help the band. Eating smaller meals and taking more time to eat. Trying to get back to basics and get through the stress. Hard though when your staff is down from 4 people to 1 and I am that one!!!! Next we is my pre-op meeting for my TT. Can't wait. Am tired of the 2 stomach rolls and the fat on my back. I am at a weight I am comfortable with so decided to go ahead.. Surgery is the 29th. wish me luck! Congrats to allon their bandaversary. Feels great, doesn't it.

remember to have liquids/mushies for 24-48 hours after a PBing incident. helps to relieve any irritation caused by the event

i definitely recommend the total abdominalplasty, just the pannectomy, which some insurances pay for, leaves you with the upper part hanging over the new sleek lower portion..not a very pretty picture. the full TT is around $4000 and then about $3500 for the back section. i have too many folds in my back not to get everything done. I consider it money well spent
