I went shopping with a friend who was banded 1/14/08. bought chewable lintstones, and calcium, liquid tylenol, sf jello, popsicles, crystal light and broth. thingk i am covered for my 2-3 days of clear liquid before surgery and for the 2-3 days post op. Anyone else have any recommendations of things those of us looking forward to surgery may have forgotten? :smile2:
  11. I just ordered a bunch of flavors from a website. so many choices, but hope they will give some variety to the same old flavors out there. always fun trying new things.

Congratulations, nice to know your surgeon is taking all the precautions he sees fit. bummer on the sleep apnea. i had my sleep study done in August, before I was considering the lapband. Then I was told, no need for cpap, it is not that bad. the when i went to pulmonologist for clearance they said, you need cpap.. so got it a week ago, and will get my clearance for that on Monday. I will admit, I have slept much better this past week. Si it is helping me sleep more soundly.
  13. I have tried most of the unjury flavors.....but the whey protien from Wlamart's is just as good and much cheaper I agree. I also have tried healthwise. most can be found on web sites.. just trying as many different options as i can before surgery.

    Any locals?

Newark, DE surgery 3/19 Dr. Wynn Nice to see some more Delawareans.. I started my journey back in October when I went to my first information seminar with Dr. Wynn. I took alot of soul searching and xonsideration before I decided it was for me. But once I did, I was ready to get it done. Just had my Pre-op on 3/6 and have the all clear. there are several support groups in the area. I can get them and post them here Lynn:thumbup:

I never thought about the candy or meat thermometer, great idea... I am afraid to take my measurements, it seems so depressing... but a good idea..to see how far I am going after surgery. Pictures are always a plus for before and after, i know the weight loss will be seen in my face first , then the boobs...why do the boobs go first LOL Congrats to all those March Bandsters, and good luck to all of us having the surgery later in the month

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I am lucky, my doctor's office has their own "store" for buying many of the potien products: unjury and HealthWise. Unjury has great fruit drinks, coffees, hot chocolates, shakes puddings. yummy I haven't tried any of the soupas and broths my doc says 2-3 days before surgery, liquid diet, and nothing else. i am doing 1-2 meals a day protien drinks... surgery is 3/19........Dr. Gail Wynn, Newark, DE
  17. just got back from my pre-op appt, everything is a go. as far as bowling I was told 4 weeks. do i dare test it and try going at 3 weeks? March 19 will be here before I know it. very anxious and ready to get it done

    getting banded on March 19th

I have all but one clearance.. go for pre-op on 3/6 and find out my surgery time. Trying to keep to a one regular meal a day diet and 2 meals of protien drink. Seems easy now, but my Dr requires 4 weeks of liquid diet after surgery, then 2 weeks pureed and 2 weeks soft, before going to any "solid" food...ugh my surgeon is Dr. Gail Wynn in Newark, DE

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

This is great. Seems we can all understand the real things in life. what the proper weight is for us. If I were to get to my "ideal" weight I would feel emaciated...I am hoping to get to 150# but am going to be realictic and take my weight loss goals in stages... I am so looking for ward to 3/19. I go for pre-op on Thurs, 3/6 and am trying to eat 2 meals a day as protien drinks. just to get "in the swing" of all that drinking. Looks like everything is set for my banding party....... any alternative suggestions for broths or soups... any variety is great.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

great to see a place for the "over 50" crowd, even tough I don't feel that old. I see there have been no posts since January, so not sure of any responses. Surgery date is 3/19. and I am so anxious to get it done. Anyone have some bits of wisdom for the first few days at home. :rolleyes2:

    March 3rd - Anyone Else?

hope all are doing well. I will be in overnight and truly looking forward to a night there, just in case of the pain. I have never heard of the citrate as a prep for surgery either. In the past it was a prep solution for a colonoscopy and I remember the nasty task..I had mine mixed in the ice frost gatorade, seemed to help a "little" bit. kepp in touch and let us all know how tings are going.:rolleyes2:
  22. I am told nothing heavier than 15 pounds to lift the first 3-4 weeks, hey my bowling ball is light weight, only 10#, Guess I'll ask my surgeon on 3/6 went i go for my pre op appt. It is getting to the end of my bowling season ans I really hate to miss too many weeks. It is too much fun for a night out with the girls..

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

how about a nice hot bubble bath, some soft music and candles. that is what i am planning.... Unjury is great and try health-wise, you can get it on line, several fruit flavors as well as a variety of hot chocolate. I used the unflavored unjury powder mixed in a diet cranberry juice. alot of shaking to get it mixed up, but tasted good. I am trying to find a broth that is palitable. good luck. take advantage of someone there to help you out. I will be on my own, except for my daughters calling and coming over now and then. but i prefer to be alone... some TLC is nice, sure wish I had someone special to be with me through this.

    getting banded on March 19th

March 19th seems to be a popular day!!!! I am surprised so many have a liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery. But there are some great protien drinks out there. I have tried the Whey protien powder I found at Wal-MArt. It comes in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. 28 g of protein and mixed with milk is very good. And if you want fruit drinks, try looking on line for Health-Wise products they have some great ones, as well as hot chocolates, cappucino mixes and other things. getting anxious and a bit nervous, but so looking forward to the 19th.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

pre op liquid will be a bit tough, but trying to gradually get into it. I have 1 or 2 meals a day as liquid protein. and then usually have a regular lunch. and of course there are other protien aditions during the day as well as lots of water/crystal light. decaf coffee. all clear liquid begins 2-3 days before suregery for me.. then I will feel like i am floating like a boat!!!
