    Any locals?

Three-Sixty-Six Almost your time. It will be here before you know it. Sounds like you are pretty well set. You will need more protein drinks, whether powder or isopure. My te on isopure is I like it very cold, over crushes ice is best, but then others like it warm. A personal preference. Also if you don;t have a heating pad. I found it was great releif for the gas pains that seemed to concentrate in my shoulder.. as well as Gas-X for the gas pains. I have some protein mix soups if you want. they are ok, but nothing great. They do give you a nice change rom the regular drinks. If you do not have a go blender you may want to buy a "magic bullet" or some sort of generic make. It is great for making shakes and puree foods.... I am back on liquids then mushies, like Paulette and Paige, we are just after our first fill. Yopu know anytime you need to rant and rave or just talk, want support or whatever. I /we are always there for support. So don't hesitate to ask for anything. After your finals are over , hopefully ypu can get a few days to just chill and relax a bit. How much time are you taking off from work fter surgery? Remember to listen to your body. It is the best tool for recovery. and of course walk a drink.... As for my fill.. I am doing great.. just sucking down the liquid for a few days, but no discomfort or problems

i like the idea of peanut butter powder, adding to protein shakes would be so much easier than using my regular, reduced fat, low sodium peanut butter!!

Congrats on the fills, HopeInApril and Paige, Friday is my fill :frown:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

my port site was tender / sensitive for about 3 or 4 weeks. At 3 1/2 weeks I went back to work and my waistband on it was still uncomfortable
  13. I went bowling 4 weeks post op, tookm it easy and was ok. My doctor told me not to try it until then. Si made it back for my last week of league. I had pulling and disomfort on my left side up to 6 weeks post op. Not sure if alot of it was from a rather large hernia repair, but think that added to my discomfort and recovery. Today, 7 weeks post op. I feel great. Walking up to 3 miles per day 5X a week and will start some exercises for those muscles that are so out of shape. Thinking about joining the YMCA.

I plan on walking tonight, around 6:30pm, just give me a call if you want to join me. Or post here. I can check during the day at work. Inside at the mall or on the path at 896/40. wherever. I didn't walk last night and really missed it. Even though I did get lots of things done around the house!!!!

well DIVA - Any change is a positive change. consider your new found wardrobe to be a NSV. I to am getting into clothes I have not worn in about a year. and some I am putting on get worn that day and then go to the goodwill pile after washing. I am shopping this weekend for a dress for a wedding next weekend and have no idea what to get.... I know it will be a size or 2 smaller. Even clothes I am still wearing are too big in some areas and do not look good, but my budget cannot allow me to buy for each little change. I have bought new shoes and a new purse. They don't have much effect with weight loss It is a feeling we are all getting used to dealing with and one that is a big lift to our self esteem and alson encouragement for our progress to continue.

I think this is a good place to "dump" our feeling. and see no reason why we can't. we all have up and downs and need support. So sorry to hear about your brother. Hope all is fine after all of his surgeries. Prayers are with you. Keep yourself rested.. It sounds like his recovery will be a long road.

As far as carbs go I have heard anything from 100gms and more. It is like everything else. Each DR has their own desired guidelines. I keep mine below 100, at least I try. And right now my calorie count seems to hold around 800-900 even though I know I could take in more calories. I have weight watchers so imbedded in my brain that I follow some of those portion sizes and can eyeball portions well. So finally all my attempts with weight watchers is helping me with the band journey.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

at 7 weeks post op, all i am doing right now is walking and stairs. Go to the DR on Friday and asking for a fill. Seem to able to eat more every day, but being strict on myself to keep the quantity low, but high protein..and of course, always the water. I am thinking of joining the YMCA. May do more there if I have exercise buddies to do it with. I would also get one on one time and get a personalized exercise program to follow when I exercise. Trying to depend on myself to get that tuff done at home is tough and who has a complete gym in their house But I have been keeping up with my 3 mile walk, at least 5 X a week. Great concerts and events to be going to. I am looking into attending some events at our state fair this summer. Carrie Underwood, Trace Atkins.. Have to see if I can get tickets! Ok, gotta get off to work Have a great day everyone!

I am going to try so hard this week to keep my quatities low, even though i know i can eat more. I have a very irratic evening schedule and know getting the proper "dinner" in wil be a challemge. Yesterday I was 10 gms of protein below what i was to have...that seems to happen to me at least once a week, as well as my calories are around 800-900 daily, before burning any off with exercise. I hope I get a fill Friday. :wink2:

    Any locals?

three sixty six - there is a light at the end of the tunnel, at least for this semester. I also cleared out my pantry before surgery. My daughter and grandson move in in a few weeks. I am giving them a shelf for their "goodies" and told her that is all the room she gets. I have several packets of unjury soups for you if you want, just let me know. HopeInApril - that but really caught hold of you and then your son. Hope both are over it and feeling better. I have not tried the Wii. My daughter has one and said she has felt muscles in her arms and legs she was not aware of!! So it sounds like it would be a great workout!. Lisa and I have been keeping up the walking, at the mall or at the 896/40 path. I find the few days I did not do it I felt sluggish, so gonna make sure I get some kind of exercise in daily.. I hope to get in as much as possible this week. I can walk late on Monday, so it may be at the mall for me. Not before 7pm, have an appt afterwork, and on Tuesday probably not free until 7pm. so if anyone wants to walk at those times let me know. I too am looking forward to a fill this week. I have found myself over eating..if you can call it that, but definitely eating more than a few weeks ago. and have those days of not being able to feel full. Paige - how are you f I heard you had a fill last Friday.

puppy news - thank goodness your lanlord is being realistic, good luck on your vet documentation. I am with everyone else. our doggies our our family as much as any 2 legged variety of family member :biggrin2: Fenton - yippee 6". that is truly a NSV. btw have you bought a new belt yet. With losses like this you definitely need to replace the one you retired last week and you induldged and then walked it off.... that is a good trade off in my logic. I ate out yesterday at a chinese food buffet......I did fairly well, small portions of the meat and veggie dishes, stayed away from the dessert bar, except for some fresh cantelope. no egg rolls, some sauteed mushroomsand a few pieces of fried scallop and shrimp.. After counting it all out on MyDailyPlate, it was not much damage. My damage was going to the new Hollywood Casino in Harrisburg afterwards and dropping over $100 to those slot machines... but I did get walking in also, that place is huge.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Eating fast is a "pain", literally. I find the best thing to help is get up and take a short walk, even if just to another room and back if you are at home and if out to eat, excuse yourself and walk to the bathroom. It helps me. I hav always been a fast eater and am still learning to eat slower, but chewing alot does help slow me down. If I think about it I will take 30 mintes to eat a small meal, 1/2 cup each of meat and veggies. right now I am eating more, not feeling any restriction the onlt thing that keeps me from over eating is if I eat too fast..and I hate that feeling. Hopefully a fill this Friday..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It is especially hard when you can't be there to comfort others. I may be a bit forward, but I am sure all of us here will be glad to listen and let you lean on us. I know I will. I lost my sister suddenly this past JAnuary and still am grieving. My heart goes out to you. and my prayers are with any and all of us who have lost loved ones.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Indio, you could not have said this more clearly. I am grateful for all the support I am getting from the postings here. I know it has helped to make my short journey, at least at this point, a successful one. But the extra support really makes it easier. Everyone have a great weekend, off to visit my boyfriend for the weekend Welcome to all the new faces.
