Sorry- I can see right through your canned responses (basically to your own questions in such a conveniently written manner.) please go hawk your wares somewhere else. This sounds about as legit as a Bernie Madoff pitch. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

All happening so quickly!
sammy246 replied to futureskinnybtch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Julie, This was not about me not being in favor of banding. It was more the title of the thread- I just wanted to make sure options were looked at and researched. I wouldn't advise anyone (for any type of WLS) to jump in too fast without knowing the pros and cons of all surgeries. Congrats on your long standing band an weight loss! I wish you the best. Have you checked out other options? I see so many band revisions it scared me away from it! Just make sure you do plenty of research (not just with the center doing your band.) and good luck!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Just got my Fitbit yesterday and love it so far. It has me thinking of ways to get in more steps and I moved way more at my desk job than normal!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The problem is that you see people seeking validation instead of advice. They need some tough love doled out! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Is that your initial appointment? They did not take blood or do any testing in any of my initial appointments. It was more informational with a dr. And Nut. Just make sure you don't want it showing for the right reasons- you want to be at least smoke free for 3 months. This is the one thing I personally would not mess around with because it's so detrimental in a surgery like this. That said, I've read it can be 3weeks or so before you test clear. Mine could be scheduled though the clinic there, or at my primary with results sent to the center. You can do this!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi nana. With my program they test when you get your initial labs done, and again right before (or the day of) surgery. I had to quit as part of this process and have been smoke free for a month. It is so worth it!!! I started Wellbutrin to help me quit and just had to stop taking it because it made me break out in hives- do not let this deter you because it really did help me. The sooner you can kick it, the better! Feel free to ask me anything, this was the hardest thing I've ever done and I could not be happier even if they don't approve my surgery. I feel so much better and know I have way less risk of complications! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

This whole thread is inspiring and cracking me up at the same time. I have to jump on the Dub train and agree he's pretty handsome- and that is coming from a 29 yr old! What can I say, you had me at cheese and hot sauce! LOL! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@Dub I will have to remember that when I'm post op. I hear a lot of people can't tolerate spice after surgery... Which would be devastating to me! Tabasco (any flavor) on eggs is AhMazing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@Dub I thought I was the only one who did cheese and hot sauce!!! I dip Mine in sriracha. Amazing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Frustrated with protein shakes
sammy246 replied to lapitcha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing that helps me with any powdered Protein shake is to mix it and then refrigerate overnight. This eliminates the chalky texture- I can't explain it. It literally tastes so different. Worth a shot! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hello MN? My doc just sent a referral for RYGB to Abbott!

So glad to see all of these Minnesotans on the board!! I'm currently in the process with fairview south dale. Likely surgery date in January 17. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm so excited for it to come now! I got the plum colored one. I need to get my butt moving in the months before my surgery. My surgeon does not require any weight loss prior to surgery (because I had to quit smoking) but I also can't gain anything either. I feel like all I do is eat since I quit LOL. Thanks Lisa! I just took the plunge. I won't know until I try, but I'm really hoping this will be another useful tool in my box. I'm sorry you forgot yours today!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Really the centers use the time to prep you for everything to come. They get you going with Vitamins, smoking cessation (which I needed), time for all appointment like psych evaluation, blood work and any other needed testing. Each visit they set 3 goals for me and it has actually been helping. I was pissed that I had to do it at first, but now I'm just grateful for the time to get everything together- it seriously flies by. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
