Hi all! Surgery went great, made it home yesterday evening. Pain is terrible! Unfortunately it's not gas pain, it's surgery pain.. so there's not much I can do to make it go away :'( other than just let time pass, and take my pain killers! Has anyone experienced severe pain after their surgery? Was there something that helped you get through it? How long does it usually take for it to go away?? Hi Kristen, My pain is coming from where the surgeon spent most of his time operating. Where my stomach was taken out and stitched together. Gas pain spreads out, and usually focuses on your back and shoulders. My pain is solely coming from my stomach, under my stitches. I'm walking as much as I can, to try to minimize the pain. The large body pillow wouldn't work for me at the moment, my pain is so strong that I am not able to sleep on my side only on my back... No, I don't have a catheter. Hi everyone! This is my first time posting.. well, ever. I just downloaded this app yesterday, and have read a lot of postings from others. Thank you for them, they've really helped me! After almost two years of preparations... my surgery is scheduled for September 7th! I'm super happy! And nervous! And anxious! But mostly happy and excited!!! I have a quick question for smokers. Anyone who is doing, or has done the sleeve surgery, who is also smoking. My doctor said, "I will never encourage you to smoke, because it's bad for you, but it will have no impact on the surgery" My anesthesiologist said, "it might impact your recovery a little". Has anyone done the surgery and smoked cigarettes afterwards? Does it impact you? Does it taste different? Does it feel weird, or make you feel bad? If you've smoked after, how long did you wait until after the surgery to start again? Any insight, stories or suggestions would be really, really appreciated!! Hi there, Thank you so much! I'll definitely look into it and will give it a try. I rephrased a little, he told me about the things that can occur if you smoke (the blood clot and taking longer to heal, etc) But he said that it won't impact my weight loss or the surgery itself. I ate protein and veggies, as my nutritionist requested- but I might have cheated a tiny little bit ????. However, I started my liquid diet today! I've had 2 shakes, and a loooot of sugar free iced tea. I'm hungry, but determined! I won't cheat on this one, promise! HahaAre you having your surgery soon? Have you done one already?
