    Hi all,

I travelled to Turkey and had a Tummy Tuck with Lipo on the back. No muscle repair was needed, thank goodness.

1st day and 2nd day were rough. By day three it seemed to be getting better. Today is day 5.

There is no pain near the incisions, and I have to just be careful to keep them from getting wet. I still have a drain. I started with two but doctor removed one of them today and the other one is still in and getting fluids.

For those of you who have gone through this, any words of tips, what to look out for for, what to look forward to, and anything else will be so appreciated.

I Had MGB on August 6, 2018. It was a revision from VSG. My surgery weight was almost 260, today almost 5 months later I’m at 240. I feel discouraged, but will keep at it.
im having little restriction so im keeping mindful about staying under 1000-1200 calories, getting Protein in first. Also drinking 2 liters of Water.

    in a desperation, I’ve begun 16.8 IF...

this is not the result I was expecting from a revised surgery, 4 months in. :-/

Just checking in... Miss you all! My mom has lost 15 lbs last month using IF! I'm floating just around the 200 mark, a little above a little below but I'm pretty happy overall so... that's fine.

Here's an updated photo from this past Saturday night.
I love looking sharp... makes me feel so damn good! Even if I *STILL* don't see myself the way everyone else does, I know I look good, but I don't see it / feel it typically... when I get dressed up I sure do though!

  5. Congrats!

    Hi all,
    Post op- MGB August 18,
I started IF at the beginning of February. I'm doing 16:8, and have hours of fasting between 5pm and 9am, and eating window of 9am - 5pm. Within 4 days, I feel less bloated and am down 3 pounds.
I will keep this diet for this entire month, and will see if it's more effective. I've been undergoing a very frustrating stall which has lasted weeks/months.
    I'll keep you updated often.

    Hi Everyone,
I am going outside US to get a mini gastric bypass (MGB) in August. After reading many posts, and watching YouTube videos I am really concerned about the following:
    - Bile Reflux: It seems like a large percentage of MGBs get Bile Reflux and have to have another operation. Has that been the case for you?
    - Foul-Smelling Stool: Is this the case for everyone? Does it get better after a while?
    - Malnutrition: Does this happen to everyone and is taking Vitamins (multi, D3, B12) enough to fix this? What else are you taking to prevent malnutrition?
    - After experiencing MGB, do you recommend MGB instead of RNY or sleeve?
Thank you in advance for your time and valuable replied.

SusieSouth reacted to RickM in Lapband surgery after VSG?
Similar procedures are done with the RNY (Band over Bypass - BoB) without a lot of success - that is something else for your to research to see how well the band works in that application.
The couple of thoughts that I have had on the idea is that there is likely some over-promotion of the idea from the band manufacturers who have seen a dramatic decline in their market as the problems of the bands have become more widely recognized, and they are looking for new markets. The other concern is that acid reflux are relatively common complications of both procedures, so if you haven't had a problem with it post-VSG, will adding the band bring about that problem where it didn't exist before? Another concern (make that three, now) is what are the longer term implications of this, given that the bands have a fairly high revsion/removal rate due to band failures or damage to the stomach via slippage or erosion - will it work any better, or worse, on a sleeved stomach?

I work in one of the higher volume surgical practices for bariatrics in NY and I dont think ive ever seen a band over a sleeve. Even band over bypasses which are possible, are quite rare (ive done maybe 4 or 5 in 5 years)
As someone who works in bariatric surgery and is a patient, I would never in a million years want a band over a sleeve. One is its not very effective, and two is theres so many problems with the band that its just an absolutely horrible idea.
A band over a bypass is at least something I would consider a feasible option.
But the data is pretty strong that unless a procedure was done wrong (which usually isnt the case) or you are having real problems from a surgery (ie horrible GERD after a sleeve) then the odds are a second surgery isnt going to make a huge difference.
That said if I had a VSG (which I do) and I needed to do something else. Converting to a bypass is the only option I would even consider. Yes the bypass is scary which is why your first option should be consulting a nutritionist and therapist, possibly even frequently. But if revisional surgery is the way things need to go, then converting to bypass is really the only option.
Also converting a VSG to a bypass is actually easier than going from nothing to a bypass for most surgeons. And I guess having a VSG first will make the transition and experience a little easier.

It looks like this study had a very small sample size of only 5 patients. It does not compare the success of those patients against control patients who did not have the lap band placed after VSG. Therefore we can't know if the lap band is what enabled those patients to lose more weight or if it was another factor.

I called a ton of Dr's to see if they did this but none did. In fact, they said it couldn't be done. I really miss my band and hate the sleeve.

Travelled alone. Amazing experience. There was someone checking on me every hour, I truly never felt alone. The hospital has netflix so I binge watched all my favorite shows. Even after the surgery, there was someone who was assigned to me who took me out to the city for sightseeing and walking off the gas to feel better. I felt safe, taken care of and extremely satisfied. I was really supported by the BariatricPal staff and Dr. illan was amazing. He came to see me before the procedure to put my mind at ease, and the nutritionist was very helpful too.
In short, don't be nervous about going alone. I did, and I would highly recommend this and do it again.

    Hi all!
My highest weight has been 313
at pre op I began at 306
    11/25 surgery day: 294
    Current weight: 261

Today is 111 days from surgery (week 15)
    Loss from HW: 52lbs
    loss from preop: 45lbs
    loss from surgery: 33lbs

I feel great health wise. No hair falls. I am all Protein and Water. I have had several stalls where I lose inches but not pounds. I feel like I should have lost more. My clothes are all too big. Many NSV's as people are really noticing my face and body getting smaller, but I still would like to have lost a lot more than this!

This post is a little old now, so I was hoping maybe one (or all) of you ladies had some insight!!
I am currently taking adderall to manage my ADD and I think I would go nuts without it. It does effect my appetite now, but not so much that I have shed any of these pre-op pounds I'm carrying around! lol Why can't a medicine ever have that "weight loss" side effect on me?! lol
I too am worried about it's effects on my appetite post op. And while it doesn't make me wired at all now, did it start making any of you wired once you started losing? I didn't even think about that until I read this thread! Any info is appreciated!

I had two stalls, right around my periods both, week before and week during. Then I jumped down by 4 pounds out of nowhere. Maybe it has something to do with it. This close to surgery it can be anything from the gas you have been pumped with, lack of bowl movement to Water retention do to sodium intake. The water from the IVs that is.

    @@mylighthouse Hi!
Seeing this a little late. How are you feeling from your pain now? I too have had a slow weightloss since surgery. I was sleeved November 25 (today is 7 weeks/50 days post op!). I have been lucky with no pain. I have not had much gas either.
I loved eggs before surgery now all I do is slime up after having so that's a no go.
    Starting weight: 313
    SW: 295
    CW: 274
I have been going up and down 1 KG last week and losing less than 2 pounds for the last two weeks. I don't know why but I'm not too concerned as I'm counting my calories, Protein and Water intake, as well Vitamins to make sure I'm doing well. I'll see what happens. Calories wise I'm between 500-800 calories.
Oh, I've also started to do some light exercise. So far so good. I am trying to add little weights for the arms. I'm starting to see some flabs.
We're so close in SW, CW and surgery date. Mine was on the 25th of November!

Please don't be so discouraged... it will get better!
I have been having stalls off and on since my 2nd week post-op and I am now almost 9 weeks out.
I either don't lose weight from week to week, or I lost 1 or 2 pounds.
It is definitely frustrating, but I think it will pass.
