Oh mindi that is brutal!!! Mine was like luckygrls...only 2 days of liquids. Stock up on all your favorites and steel yourself against the head hunger. I wont lie it will be rough but worth it. One thing that helpes me post op was I made a list of all the things I could do onstead of eat and picked one everytime i was dealing with head hunger. This way u dont habe to think ul something....just pick from the list. Good luck and we are here if you need encouragement!!!

    Any Iowa sleevers?

Welcome jess!! I have not heard of Dr. Eibes...where from??He is with Iowa weight loss specialists, located on West Des Moines and Belmond. He does surgery only in Belmond though. Great place, great person, I'm scheduled for the 21st and they let you stay in the hospital the night before surgery just to ease your mind. I'm excited. Sent from my 0PM92 using the BariatricPal App That is nice to be able to stay the night before...most of us probably dont sleep anyway. Keep us posted on how things go.

    First week after surgery

My surgery team had me get water in first because dehydration is a real problem. Then once i could get in 64 oz of water i moved to protein. Until i got those 2 things down i couldnt have any food. Your body can go a little while without protein and protein can displace water. So...if u get protein but no water u will get dehydrated very fast. It is hard and its an all day project for a while. Keep sipping all day long. Even if you get up in the night have some water

Congrats Lucky!!! I chose to work out at home due to schedule conflicts. Sometimes i workout at 9 pm if thats what i have to do. I am concentrating on resistence bands more than anything. Then i walk as much as i can on the days that I can. Down 55 pounds in 3 months!!! Still staying below 50 carbs daily and getting 80 grams Protein in...with 100 oz of Water daily!!! I have so much energy its unbelievable. Hope everyone else is doing great and having a wonderful weekend.

They dont give you one but you can use anything u want. I am partial to myfitnesspal because it has everything you need for free. U can even get macros for a recipe. It has a big database of foods including restaurants. Its just impotant to keep track.

    Seriously?

Kel you can use it anytime my kids hate it though because it makes them reaponsible for their actions!!
  12. Wow I wish my weight loss was as awesome as yours. I'm only 30 lbs down and my sleeve date was August 9th. Admittedly I've been eating more carbs the past month. I should focus on Protein again. How is everyone else's weight loss going? HW 341 lbs 07/19/16 - 298 lbs 08/09/16 DOS - 286 lbs CW 253 lbs Definitely go back to protein! More carbs cause more cravings for me personally. HW-298 SW-281 CW-238 No stalls at all and I stay under 30 carbs most days.

    Seriously?

Funny because I just had this very conversation with my surgeon this week. He has seen people gain in the first 6 weeks after surgery and then ask him "why isnt this working for me". People are like this in all aspects of humanity, not just WLS. I have patients that I counsel about smoking because they have COPD. They tell me "i cant breath" "i cant afford my meds" but spend 50$ a week on cigarettes. They expect me to fix their problem while taking no responsibility for their actions. We have a choice...it may not be an easy choice but its still a choice. We have an opportunity to change after WLS and we should seize it to make better choices. Not ruin it by continuing with the same bad behavior. Gee, you sound like an RT in home health care... actually inpatient hospitalist....so i see all kinds!!!

Preach. Exactly...the liver transplant patient that just wants one drink. "Sure, i understand because i love beer too!"

Good luck katelyn!! Its quite the process but I wouldn't change a thing!!! Best advice I can give is mental preparation and dont wait til you are approved...start right now whatever you can because it will make things so much better post op!

    Any Iowa sleevers?

First...congrats sirmikael and Lucky on your weight loss so far!!!! Whoot! Whoot! Second...prayers are being said for you mindi to have a speedy return on the insurance approval! Third...i am excited to report a 50 pound loss as of today!!!! The stamina really does come back and the energy you will feel is unexplainable (at least for me it has been) This has not been easy but the changes I have made so far I can live with for life...guess that is most important.

    Any Iowa sleevers?

I am doing good. The mental game of this weight loss roller coaster is real and these last couple of weeks it has been a little difficult at times. Trying to use this first 6 months to really change the way I look at food and being honest with yourself is not always easy.

Lucky...how are you doing??? Hope all is going well and you are moving along the road with ease!

Luckygrl...glad to see you are progressing nicely! Congrats! U got this@
  25. I am an NP and I would doubt that removal of her large colon woukd effect the sleeve surgery. The sleeve insicions are far from the large colon. RNY maybe not...but sleeve should be okay. I would tell what I would tell any patients...you wont know until you consult.
