February Sleevers -- Let's Do This Together
My surgery was 2/9. I lost 9.7#'s my first week post op. So far I've been very blessed in not having any side effects alot of people do. I haven't had buyers remorse. I have had head hunger. Overall my experience has been very pleasant. I expected the worse. I have a very low pain tolerance and nausea from anesthesia. I made both the surgeon and anesthesiologist aware of these issues. I was given proper pain meds and anti nausea meds. I start soft foods next friday. Hopefully nausea won't start then.

Has anyone taken a trip
I had a 5hr road trip after getting out of hospital. It was horrible. I was very uncomfortable which made me very cranky. You need rest, fluids and protien. Can you do that on your trip? You may be different from me.

Schedule surgery after vacation.

When can I start smoking again?
Didn't your surgeon and/or bariatric team go over smoking and WLS? I know mine told us straight out no smoking for life unless you have a death wish. Stay strong and smoke free. Good luck

Vacation 3-4 weeks post op?
I'm a week post op. So far I've been very blessed and haven't experienced any nausea or gas pains. I am very tender around abdomen and tired. I would say schedule vacation for after vacation. I don't think you will get to enjoy it right after surgery. You'll be out of your comfort zone. Want to sleep. Riding in car for long distance will be no fun. You won't enjoy vacation and the rest of the family probably won't either.

Reasonable caloric intake one-week post-op?
I too enjoy munching on my vitamin. Have you tried sugar free popcicles? That helps me with the craving to chew on something. 10 more days then I get to try soft foods.

BMs changing at pureed stage
Pre-op my bm was about every three days. I talked to surgeon about this because I know constipation is one of side effects. For me he said if I was not having any discomfort I could go for 7 days after surgery without a bm. Surgery was 2/9. Had bm yesterday I have taken stool softner since 2/10. If you are feeling discomfort don't hesitate to call your surgeon and seek his advice. Are you getting your fluids in? Those are important for bm.

Dermatitis, post surgery?
Surgeon A.S.A.P. sounds like an allergic reaction. Only your surgeon can tell you for sure. When I had gallbladder out 2 yrs ago I broke out in a rash around every insicion. I was allergic to the surgical tape. The doc gave me something for it. Surgeon used different tape for Sleeve surgery. 5 days out and no signs of any problems yet.

We talk about food addiction but not....
Weighing daily has been something I've done for years. I wanted to wait at least a week after surgery because of swelling. Didn't make it. Lol weighing daily is what kept me from gaining all of the weight I lost in 2012 back. I like weighing daily because it keeps me in check. By the way. I didn't listen to the scale as it called my name this morning. Lol that thing sure is persistent.

February Surgery! Any buddies?
My pre-op diet was subscribed as yours. If you do have a large intake of sodium for some reason right before surgery be sure to drink lots of fluids. I cut back on sodium months ago. Didn't want that Water weight

February Surgery! Any buddies?
Be sure to let your surgeon know about your issue with nausea from past surgeries. I told him and the anesthesiologist about it. They started administering in my I.V in pre-op and continued till the day I left hospital. Never had nausea while in hospital. Have had it once since being home. Took med for it and poof it was gone.

February Surgery! Any buddies?
Have you tried sleeping propped up? A heating pad might help. Surgeon recommended that I slept propped up for a few nights after leaving hospital. I did as suggested. I haven't had to deal with any gas discomfort. I do use heating pad to help relax muscles around abdomen. Has worked for me. Hope you feel better soon.

February Surgery! Any buddies?
Good luck to you. I had my surgery on the 9th. We're on the loser's bench I only spent one night in hospital. My surgeon prescribed me liquid pain medication. I started my chewable multivitamin today. I wait two weeks to start calcium chews. So far I haven't had any problems taking my regular prescribed medications. All are very small. I take very tiny sip of water then take one pill. Then repeat till all are taken. Very tiny sip of water i think has been jey for me. I take 6 in morning and 4 at night.

We talk about food addiction but not....
Well I found where my hubby hid the scale. Yes I weighed I was 219 day of surgery 2/9. Today I was 213.8. I'm not going to weigh myself again till Thursday.

Stupid 5 lbs and nothing else!
Stop weighing yourself until you have met your fluid and protien goals for 3 days. No goals met, no scale. Your body needs what you are not giving it. You have to set your mind to it and figure out how to do it. Failure is not except able. You've got to do this. You can do this. We're cheering you on
