Hi September Bypass Buddies,
I would like to know how many of you are doing the Sleeve versus the Bypass? I am a bypass on 9/11.
Cheers,

HI All,
I am also nervous and excited at the same time because I am 3 weeks out. I start my pre-op liquid diet on Monday August 28. I have had 3 back surgeries and I am fused from L3-4 to L1-S1. So, @Cookienmax if you can wait to see if the surgery helps with the pain, I would do that. I am hoping that my back, hip and elbow feel better after bariartic surgery. I have given up diet Coke, anything with sugar or bread and it is hard. However, I know that I needed to do so before my surgery (9/11).

I am having Gastric Bypass on September 11. I think our September buddies are both Sleevers and Bypass. IS this correct September buddies?

Good Afternoon All,
I've been reading a lot of posts. I am wondering if there is a difference on how people feel right after surgery between Bypass and Sleeve. If there is a difference can somebody explain that to me? Also is there a difference on the amount of daily Protein between the Sleeve and Gastric Bypass?
Thanks for you help.

I have my pre-op diet starting on August 28th. I have to drink Premier Protein 3 times a day and that is all to shrink my liver for two weeks before surgery. Any suggestions on Protein Water?

Just keep swimming as Dorie says in Finding Nemo. We will get to September before we know it. I get scared but them I realize what this surgery will do for my health and I feel better. My biggest concern is the emotional side of eating. I found a great book The psychology of finally being Full From Within by Dr. Colleen Long, Psy. D. It is helping me better prepare for surgery. I am also in therapy and I just found a psychiatrist to manage my medication.
Cheers,

I am still waiting on my bypass on /September 16. I have been labeled an addict and in fact I was addicted to Norco. However, I went cold turkey and I am fine now. I used the Fentanyl Patches and they worked for my back, hip and arm pain. I just didn't like how I felt on the medication. I agree that people who need medication should not be labeled addict because it hurts. there must be a way to get the help you need without the label, but it takes the right doctor. I worry that my pain will increase after surgery but I hope it goes down or away. I know I may be dreaming.

Thanks for the info on insurance and health clubs.

It is amazing how different programs do things a little bit differently than others only to get the same results. I don't have money for a gym right now but I will have to figure out how to join a gym later.

that would be great @Mimi of 7

I have my surgery in September but I can not afford a gym at this point. Is walking enough in the beginning?

I loved acupuncture because it did help but I also can not afford it either. I have had many surgeries for back, hip, knee, and elbow problems. I did get addicted to Norco so I am wary about taking pain medication after surgery. However, I know that I will need to take the pain medication at least for a little while. I hope my RNY surgery will help my body be out of pain someday. I also hurt everyday with my back being the worst offender.

WOW you look amazing. Your story is very inspirational. I am having RNY surgery in September and I hope that I do as well as you. Congratulations.

I have my surgery in 1 month and I can understand your anxious. I worry about how I will do after the surgery too. these suggestions have been a big help.Good Luck
-
@Shan W I'm glad to hear it because I have seen on the web that some doctors don't do a complete liquid for 2 weeks.
-
great @cookienmax we can be RNY buddies. I will post after my surgery to say how I am doing.
