  1. You LOSE weight. You don't LOOSE weight. Almost everyone has a stall after the third week or so (and this will happen over and over again). You have to change your relationship with food to be successful in this journey long term. There. That ought to cover it...

I think it did, now post that daily ;-)

      Newme17

Agreed!! Now, as _Kate_ suggested, post it daily. It seems as if you said what I've been thinking. I just didn't know how to say it gently without it being offensive. Lol

  3. Heading back out on the road for work. First work trips since the surgery in September. I have to admit, I am looking forward to people's reactions when they see me! :-)

How exciting! You will have to tell us what they say. I leave Saturday for 8 days, for a conference. I'm somewhat nervous about it because I'm used to cooking my own food and having control over everything by weighing and measuring it. I will definitely make healthy choices and make sure I walk 10,000+ steps a day. I've got to keep my hands away from the sweets and make sure I drink a protein shake every day. It's going to be challenging but I'm up for the challenge.

Don't be surprised if some people literally don't recognize you. That was my experience years ago after having lost a lot. At first I thought I was being snubbed. Turns out they didn't know who I was. Basically: more attention, less recognition.

  4. I am now officially down over 160 pounds since March 21, 2016. Exciting! My mid-220s goal for Mardi Gras Day (February 28) now seems very do-able! Onward!

  6. Heading home tomorrow after 3.5 weeks in Southeast Asia. I can't wait to get on the scale since I haven't been able to weigh in over 2 weeks. Everything I brought with me is falling off of me now, so I am looking forward to seeing the progress I've made (even while vacationing)!!

  7. Good morning from Hanoi, Vietnam. As I was entering Vietnam last night, I had to go through an interrogation because I have lost so much weight, they didn't think that my passport picture was me. Annoying and flattering all at the same time!

You know, I have had that problem as well with my passport and my TSA card. I usually then have to show my drivers license which still has me 50lbs heavier but at least they see the progression. I say, its a very good problem to have but can be costly on time.

  9. Good morning from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! So much of each day on our trip involves a lot of walking. We are averaging 10 miles each day. I have lost 9 pounds in the week we have been over here. 242 this morning!

  10. I was 251 at my 3 month check-up this morning. I have lost over 70% of my excess body weight. I'm shooting for the low- to mid-220s by Mardi Gras day. Now, we are off to tour SE Asia for a month. Happy holidays everyone!

  12. I had a piece of bacon with my scrambled egg for the first time today. No problems. Breakfast, though much smaller, has returned to pre-op normalcy. Happy day!

  13. I made and tried the Ricotta Bake for the first time this evening. It was good and all, but I can only have about 31 grams of it to make it match one of my regular "meals." For that, I can have 2 oz of meat, a string cheese, or almost 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. To each his/her own, but it's not worth it to me. I'll be marking that one off of the list.

To get the calories/carbs/protein (in this case, it's more about the calories) to fall in line with my 8 daily eating periods, the serving size is 31 grams, which is TINY. Where I am right now, it is not worth it to me because I can have things with about the same calories that are more satisfying and have more protein. ShelterDog64 made a good point. It probably would have been better for me a few weeks ago, but I missed my window, and where I am now, I'll just pass on it. I can see why people like it, though...

  15. So the incision inside my belly button has been oozing since yesterday. I talked to the doctor on call and I now have to go into the office on Monday for them to look at it. I suppose I can't complain too much since my recovery has been pretty seamless, but I hope it is a minor issue...

I hope so, too, and am glad you called. So rare around here.

It's just an infection, I'm sure. Pretty commonplace to have at least one have some infection, or possibly a seroma. A week of antibiotics, probably. Not a huge cause for worry.

  16. I took a bath today. Like soak in the tub bath. That's the first time I have been able to do that in at least 8 years! I wouldn't want to do it every day, but it was a nice change...

  20. Had scrambled eggs for the first time post-op today. It went down just fine and there were no problems. Thank goodness! This is a big step toward "normalizing" eating a little bit.

Had a second scrambled egg just now. Again, no problems. I don't think it is possible to articulate how happy I am that eggs are back in my life. One week until salmon!!!

I only got in the 64 oz today. Before I started having some semi-solids, I was getting in 80 oz, but it took me the whole day to finish 64 oz by the time I added the 30 minutes before and after 4 different times during the day. I was taking the last sips in right before I went to bed!

  24. After 21 total days of liquids, I was given permission to move onto well-cooked green beans, string cheese, and cottage cheese 4 days early. Looking forward to seeing how this goes!

    1. WLSResources/ClothingExch

      WLSResources/ClothingExch

Yum, one serving = 2 green beans. As to cottage, I've been eating a little each day the past few weeks because my calcium capsules are enormous; when I empty them into cottage, the grittiness isn't as noticeable as it is in some other things. Otherwise, for decades I've thought of cottage as something to eat only when I'm sick.

Some people like a little SF jam with their cottage cheese. My favorite first good taste was 2 tsp. refried beans with a little mild taco sauce.

I put SF Strawberry Jam in my cottage cheese. It kind of tasted like Strawberry Cheesecake. YUMMY
