You LOSE weight. You don't LOOSE weight. Almost everyone has a stall after the third week or so (and this will happen over and over again). You have to change your relationship with food to be successful in this journey long term. There. That ought to cover it...

Heading back out on the road for work. First work trips since the surgery in September. I have to admit, I am looking forward to people's reactions when they see me! :-)

How exciting! You will have to tell us what they say. I leave Saturday for 8 days, for a conference. I'm somewhat nervous about it because I'm used to cooking my own food and having control over everything by weighing and measuring it. I will definitely make healthy choices and make sure I walk 10,000+ steps a day. I've got to keep my hands away from the sweets and make sure I drink a protein shake every day. It's going to be challenging but I'm up for the challenge.

I am now officially down over 160 pounds since March 21, 2016. Exciting! My mid-220s goal for Mardi Gras Day (February 28) now seems very do-able! Onward!

Back in the USA! Asia rocks and all, but there is no place like home!!
-
Heading home tomorrow after 3.5 weeks in Southeast Asia. I can't wait to get on the scale since I haven't been able to weigh in over 2 weeks. Everything I brought with me is falling off of me now, so I am looking forward to seeing the progress I've made (even while vacationing)!!

Good morning from Hanoi, Vietnam. As I was entering Vietnam last night, I had to go through an interrogation because I have lost so much weight, they didn't think that my passport picture was me. Annoying and flattering all at the same time!
-
Good morning from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! So much of each day on our trip involves a lot of walking. We are averaging 10 miles each day. I have lost 9 pounds in the week we have been over here. 242 this morning!
-
I was 251 at my 3 month check-up this morning. I have lost over 70% of my excess body weight. I'm shooting for the low- to mid-220s by Mardi Gras day. Now, we are off to tour SE Asia for a month. Happy holidays everyone!
-
I am now just obese with no adjectives. Just 37 pounds to go until I am no longer obese. 139 pounds lost as of today -- 40 since surgery on September 28!
-
I had a piece of bacon with my scrambled egg for the first time today. No problems. Breakfast, though much smaller, has returned to pre-op normalcy. Happy day!

I made and tried the Ricotta Bake for the first time this evening. It was good and all, but I can only have about 31 grams of it to make it match one of my regular "meals." For that, I can have 2 oz of meat, a string cheese, or almost 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. To each his/her own, but it's not worth it to me. I'll be marking that one off of the list.

To get the calories/carbs/protein (in this case, it's more about the calories) to fall in line with my 8 daily eating periods, the serving size is 31 grams, which is TINY. Where I am right now, it is not worth it to me because I can have things with about the same calories that are more satisfying and have more protein. ShelterDog64 made a good point. It probably would have been better for me a few weeks ago, but I missed my window, and where I am now, I'll just pass on it. I can see why people like it, though...

New pictures posted. I really feel like I will meet my goal of 250 pounds (147 pound loss) by the time we leave for our Southeast Asia trip on December 19!

So the incision inside my belly button has been oozing since yesterday. I talked to the doctor on call and I now have to go into the office on Monday for them to look at it. I suppose I can't complain too much since my recovery has been pretty seamless, but I hope it is a minor issue...

I took a bath today. Like soak in the tub bath. That's the first time I have been able to do that in at least 8 years! I wouldn't want to do it every day, but it was a nice change...
-
At my 1 month post-op appointment today, they said I have lost 57% of my excess body weight. Just 43% to go! Onward!!
-
We made new pictures yesterday. I feel like a normal-sized person for the first time in a long time. Also, I get to add salmon back into my world today. And Auburn beat Ole Miss. What a great weekend!! Now if the Saints can just surprise me with a win today...
-
Today is one month post-op for me. I lost 21 pounds this month, and 120 pounds total. I still have 2 more weeks of medical leave to concentrate on this full-time. Onward!
-
Had scrambled eggs for the first time post-op today. It went down just fine and there were no problems. Thank goodness! This is a big step toward "normalizing" eating a little bit.
-
I got a pair of size 38 jeans at the mall tonight. And they fit -- and I mean for-real fit, not strain and wear your shirt-tail out fit. So psyched!
-
I broke 500 calories for the first time today! And I had 74 grams of protein, too. Great day!
-
I am happy to say there were NO problems with the new foods today. It is nice to have some new choice. One week until scrambled eggs!
-
After 21 total days of liquids, I was given permission to move onto well-cooked green beans, string cheese, and cottage cheese 4 days early. Looking forward to seeing how this goes!
-
Yum, one serving = 2 green beans. As to cottage, I've been eating a little each day the past few weeks because my calcium capsules are enormous; when I empty them into cottage, the grittiness isn't as noticeable as it is in some other things. Otherwise, for decades I've thought of cottage as something to eat only when I'm sick.

Two weeks post-op today. I have lost 16.5 pounds since surgery day and over 115 pounds overall!
