    3 weeks out

I am right there with you!! My surgery was 9/10 and I weigh every Sunday! Last week I was down 26, and this week...... Exactly still 26 . It's the three week stall. I am just going to focus on fluids and Protein this week and not go near the scale until next week. I was also told that our bodies have a "memory" too, and I can't help but notice that I was stuck at 238 for about a year, which is exactly where I am now. So smile and embrace it, some of us are arm in arm with ya right now Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Have to make yourself eat

I find it hard to eat some days too, other days I feel super hungry! I am 3 weeks out, approved for soft and or purée, but I find I can't eat much soft food. Three or four bites is my max. But the appeal of more choices draws me to keep trying. Right now my go to foods are hummus, off the spoon, tuna mixed with fat free mayo and grated pickles, Peanut Butter off the spoon and cottage cheese with unflavoured Protein powder I also like the fact that i can boost these foods with Protein Powder without affecting the taste Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Before Your Surgery Suggestion!

Use the Internet for the wealth of info that it is. I read constantly on different medical sites. I am intrigued by how the process has changed in last ten years, and how different everyone's programs are even today! I got weak direction from the surgeon. I found it is very generic. And of course forums like this are fantastic knowledge is power right?!?!? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pain Question

Every single one of us experiences this! It will pass after a few days. It's why they encourage small constant sipping. Power through! The outcome is well worth it:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stretching stomach in the beginning

I did self pay, in Mexico, with after care from my family physician. I have had to depend on massive amounts of Internet research, pouring over forums to read first hand experience, and then just plain listening to my body! My be all end all of everything that goes in my mouth...... If it hurts or causes discomfort, my tummy is not ready. Everyone's journey I different, but I can tell you I have had zero vomiting, zero nausea. Which j feared as for some it is a new way of life When in doubt, go back to liquids and try again next meal. You won't hurt anything by taking your time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein Protein Protein

I bought unflavored GNC whey Protein. It can be added to anything without really changing the flavour. I prefer it in savoury food. I add a scoop to my warm food and it ups the protein 20g. I shoot for 30g each meal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    What's the skinny on coffee?

I was instructed back coffee or tea only the week before surgery. Dehydration was given as the main reason, and then was told in the hospital that because we will be starting over with discovering what our new tummies will tolerate it was best to avoid. I have had zero issues getting my liquids, so at about a week out I had a half coffee, half hot Water. no issues. As I upped my water intake, I allowed myself less hot water more coffee. Dr said it was an excellent way to judge tolerance, and as soon As i was cleared for full liquid diet at ten days out, I am back to my regular coffee with two creamers. Not the low fat crap as it is sugar heavy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

Seems like a few common denominators..... Hungry folks always seem to state immediately after that they are not getting all their fluids. I was told to shoot for the surgeons recommendation, but then in reality each of us should ultimately be getting half our current weight in oz, for optimal weight loss, hunger relief and health. I has a couple days at about 2.5 weeks out where my tummy growled and moaned and I was positive i was starving to death..... so I added a scoop of plain Protein powder to my Soup and it worked wonders! Topped out at 110 oz liquid with 120g protein. It only lasted two days and the growling went away. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Personal relationships

I was comfortable to have my husbands weight on top of me at two weeks. Of course for earlier, there is "spoon" and rear entry methods that prevent discomfort. Listen to your body but keep in mind they cut your tummy and nothing else:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Allergic reaction incision areas

Definitely use the Benadryl cream or gel. It's a miserable sensation that you don't have to suffer thru!! I didn't close in for over ten days and suffered needlessly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Vancomycin for C difficile

Load yourself with an excellent probiotic while you deal with this. I was in the same boat a few years ago after botched dental surgery. Probiotic saved my life! This is a serious ailment and my heart goes out to you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Week One Protein

I had no Protein for the first 7 days, clear fluids only and my recovery has been super easy. ( sleeved 9/10/16) Second week of full liquids, your tummy seems to want the weight of the shakes, very satisfying. Or unflavoured Protein powder in Soup. Easy peasy down 22 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I am currently sitting at the Tijuana grand hotel with my husband awaiting my sleeve in the morning. I am from Canada and did self pay through 'a lighter me'. So far the care has been impeccable. I was in constant text contact through the days leading up to my flight. I was picked up at my gate within moments of landing in San Diego. All have been warm, welcoming, speak good English. Everything I could have hoped for Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
