I do take prescription Prilosec once a day, but I still have the bubbly stomach. No pain though. I have gotten "foamies" twice so I tend to agree that it may be acid reflux I'm feeling. I'm going to call the surgeons office tomorrow to see what they say just wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I just want to be able to eat again.

I was sleeved on September 19 and went through the phases with little difficulty. When I got to phase 4 (solid Protein, veggies and fruit) I began to struggle. My stomach constantly feels bubbly. While I was able to eat 4-6 ounces of soft food, now I can barely get 3 in. Also, all protein makes me nauseous. meat, Beans, cheese, cottage cheese, tuna, Protein shakes. All of it makes me gag to get it down. But I can tolerate things like mashed potatoes or Tomato Soup. The last week everything I've eaten goes right through me. Has anyone experienced any of this? I'm getting so discouraged and starting to worry a bit.

The reason for not drinking while you eat is because firstly it fills the sleeve with no nutrients and leaves less room for needed Protein. You only have so much room in there. Secondly, it washes the food you just ate out of the sleeve more quickly making you hungry faster. I've been told it's forever.

Just had it on Tuesday. It was an awful, bitter drink and you have to drink about an ounce of it. Horrible! They gave me some Water to swish in my mouth after they took the pictures. Just really really bad. But I was able to start drinking after, so it was worth it!

My NUT said that caffeine has a dehydrating effect so they don't want you to drink it post op, at least for a few months. I figure I will give it up until I'm fully healed and eating regular food again and then try it. I know people who have the sleeve and after 6 months or so have no issues with caffeine.

I got just a plain Bullet. About half the price of the Nutibullet, it works good when I want to add ice to my shakes (or fruit later). Otherwise I use a blender cup.

Today is the first day of my pre-op liquid diet. I can have Protein shakes, Clear liquids, cream Soup, and sugar free pudding. Getting sleeved on the 19th. I am so excited and nervous!
I just made a shake with vanilla Protein powder, orange Jello and skim milk. Tasted like a creamsickle. Anyone have any other good shake recipes?

I was told by my surgeon to wait 6 months, and not to have a beer for at least a year due to the carbonation.

Hi all,
I haven't started my journey yet.. my informational seminar is next Wednesday the 7th in Rochester Hills. Would be looking to have my surgery at Troy Beaumont.
I was wondering.. I have Priority Health PPO.. has anyone here gotten through the approval process with them?
I have Priority Health and they were pretty quick about approving me once I met all their criteria, i.e. A 6-month dr supervised wt loss program, BMI of 40 or 35 with co-morbidity. Once we submitted the paperwork I was approved in a little over a week.

Just wondering what kind of Protein shakes everyone is using, and what you're "eating" on the pre-op liquid diet. I start my 2-week pre op liquid fast in one week. I got some "Muscle Milk light" Protein Powder, some Proti-Diet Soups, sugar free pudding and Jello. Any others I should be thinking of? Thanks!

My surgery is scheduled for September 19, so I've got a LONG way to go before I have to worry about it. Just want to get ideas so I'm prepared. Probably over thinking it!

Thanks, and I understand what you're saying. But believe me, although I'm sure I will deal with some jealously the first time I see him sit down with a steak and potatoes or a big wet burrito, I really do have the issue of figuring out healthy meal choices that are good for my sleeve and that he will eat. If anyone has any suggestions on that, if really appreciate it. Seriously. I want to be prepared when the time comes so I don't fall back into old habits. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I'm a married woman who doesn't cook. There...my confession. Haha! Well, I can cook, but I hate to, so I rarely do it. So, usually my husband either cooks or we get take out and that's been our way of life for 30 years. My question is, once I'm cleared for regular food...then what? He's like a stick. Not an ounce of body fat, and if he eats like I'm going to be eating, he will disappear. How do you deal with this? Do I cook for myself and let him fend for himself? Do I eat what he cooks but only small amounts? (meat and potatoes...) do I start cooking and try to get him to eat healthy with me? He will absolutely not eat fish, chicken, etc. What about take out? This is going to be the biggest challenge for me. Not the willpower, just the details. Help!!

16 days post op? I'm still pre-surgery but as far as I know I will be on full liquids for 2-4 weeks. How are you able to eat real food already? Just curious.

My dinner last night. I ate about 1/3 of the steak (3 oz), 2 shrimp and a few bites of veggies. I'm 4 months out.
