  1. @@tiff291 Hi Tiff :D

I'm glad you shared that because I completely relate. I would guess most of us relate, just some of us, like myself, can't express it as well. hehe I am so relieved you're feeling better, Tiff. <3

Thank you! I have felt so much better, so glad the nausea is gone, that's the worst feeling! How's everything going for you?

  2. The hardest part for me was the liquid diet and after surgery I felt like I had made a big mistake. I felt like I didn't think this process all the way through and I could've lost the weight on my own without surgery. All of that changed once people saw me after only 2 weeks after surgery and could see the difference. Tomorrow will make 4 weeks since I made the decision to have surgery. I was walking through the grocery store last night looking for different items to incorporate into my lifestyle (I don't like to say diet because this truly is a lifestyle change) and I noticed the middle aisles of the store didn't entice me as much anymore. I even laughed to myself because there is halloween candy out by the door and normally I would've bought a couple bags for my candy bowl for visitors at home, however, I walked right by it with no problem. I NEVER thought I would get to this point and I'm so grateful my mind and my tummy are on the same page. During the liquid stage the first couple of weeks I broke down twice (once over a can of Pringles and once over my husband's meal from chicken Express lol). I cried over food because it was my comfort for so many years. But now I realize I can eat and be satisfied without eating some of the things I used to. Honestly without all the grease and carbs and sugar, I have felt so good and alert as well. This point was unintentionally long but I hope that it helps you in your journey. Oh and hi @@Sai!

Hey, I still had some really strong gas pains this morning, but my husband got me out of the house and we walked around Walmart to pick up some things. By the time I left out of there and got back home, I was hurting. However, I was able to take off my dressings today and shower and I feel so much better. The swelling in my body has gone down quite a bit. Yesterday was rough for me too. I was nauseated the entire day. Today it's pretty much gone. Thanks for asking!

  4. Thanks everyone! I'm home and am struggling a little bit but doing okay. Definitely need my pain meds. It's uncomfortable to eat (Jello, Popsicles) and to drink (sip) Water. Is this normal? @@tiff291 how is your recovery going?

Hello, mine is getting a little better, my body feels stiff and I'm finally passing gas and burping a little more (tmi sorry). I tried to eat a popsicle yesterday but was too nauseous to do so. Make sure that you are walking, that will somewhat help with the pain. My stomach still hurts a bit because of the gas, but I'm doing better with each day.

  5. @@onedeterminedchick I'm definitely nauseous. I don't even want my husband to eat around me because his food is so overpowering and it instantly makes me sick

I was only nausea about 10 mins. Nurse gave me meds in my iv for it and I haven't been nausea since. Did your dr give you meds for it?
Yes they gave me like 3 different things. Still feel nauseated.

Thank you, praying for you as well!

  6. @ you're recovery sounds similar to mine. I literally felt like I had been stabbed and then run over by a truck. Today (my day after) I have been sleeping, sipping, doing breathing treatments and walking. I'm ver nauseous today and sore on my left side, but otherwise I'm ok. Did you have a lot of nausea? Thanks for responding!

No, but only because I told them that I have a history of being nauseous, motion sickness, car sickness, boat sickness, you name it hehe. What they did was prescribe me Ondansetron (dissolve in mouth tablets) so I took that every 4-6 hrs or as needed. It really really helped.
I have those as well. I still have about 3 hours before I can take another

Yayyyy...we Celebrate the same day!! I will definitely keep you updated. Best wishes sent you way. 24hrs I will be at the hospital

When you wake up in recovery you will feel pretty awful. I don't remember a whole lot of it though. I did have some pain but for the first 24 hours but kept the pain meds coming and it definitely helped. What was hard for me is that I had a headache most of the first two days. Probably a result of all the meds I was getting. Anyway that bothered me more than the incisional pain. I did have nausea but it went away with the Zophran they gave me through the IV. Never threw up, just had the rush of Water in my mouth a few times that meant I was close. Once I got home I felt a lot better. Am slightly sore around my healing incisions and not yet sleeping on my stomach, but over all I feel pretty good.

Good luck to you. You can do this.

(I think what started to help me feel even better was seeing that I had lost 8 pounds after only 3 days :) )

I should add that what made me nauseated in the hospital was the Clear liquids they put me on. The sugar free, clear liquid was awful. I was best when just sipping ice Water and then some regular apple juice. I guess my stomach doesn't like the fake taste of some of the sugar free things.

How did you ladies' surgeries go? I had mine at 10:30AM yesterday and was released to go home around 5:30PM

  9. Thanks for the encouragement it's just so disappointing. I now have to await until November...

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You're welcome. I started the process in January when I was working for another employer and when I got to the end, I found out the insurance would only cover up to 50% or $10,000. I changed employers in June and the new employer offered bariatric surgery at 100%. The new insurance plan was effective August 1st after the waiting period, some of my pre-op stuff was still good except my stress test, chest x-ray, pre-op bloodwork, and my edg. I got all the stress test done and they submitted it to the insurance provider on the 3rd and I got an answer on August 14th. Scheduler called a week later for Sept 22. By me waiting instead of just jumping at the 1st chance I got (the approval at 50%) I saved myself so much money. It's tough but worth it. I was so ready to have it done too.

  10. Officially pissed!!! Was just informed that my surgery which is scheduled for Monday will likely be cancelled due to an error with my insurance authorization

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I know this is a terrible way to start your new journey, and I would be upset as well. However, look at it this way, you would rather have your insurance authorization done right instead of have the surgery to only be told afterwards it was wrong and you owe thousands of dollars and have to go through an appeals process. Your day will come, just try to remain positive, hang in there. Your time is coming.

  12. @@danny77 honestly I'm super nauseated today and sore on my left side where they pulled out my stomach. I'm getting a lot more rest than I got last night though and I've been walking and doing my breathing exercises every time I'm awake. Thank you for asking and trust me it will be well worth it! To me the pre-op diet was harder than this. It's all mental

  13. @@blackbenzjeep@yahoo.com my surgeon suggested I sip Water as much as I can and walk as much as I can. I had to walk 6 laps around the hospital floor before they would even discharge me the same day and I've been walking whenever I'm awake at home. My husband didn't want me outside just yet so I just walk in circles around my home for 20 mins each time. The more you walk, the easier your recovery because you are trying to get rid of all the gas in your stomach from surgery. Sipping helps before you walk because it helps you burp which pushes the gas out of you. Hope this helps and congrats on your new journey!

  14. @@tiff291 surgery went great! I'm not in pain except for the trapped gas that makes my chest hurt. Just did a lap around the hospital floor trying to help expel the gas. Otherwise I'm doing pretty good! How did your surgery go?

My surgery went well also. I had some pain with the trapped gas during the night and also on the side where they pulled out the stomach. I had to do 6 laps around the hospital floor before they would discharge me yesterday

Hello All 9/22 sleevers! I had my surgery at about 10:30AM and was discharged around 5:30PM. I have had some pain but I have pushed myself to walk quite a bit since being released because I want to get rid of the pain as quickly as possible. It was a struggle sipping Water and doing the breathing treatments to prevent pneumonia, but the nurses were surprised by how well I was walking around the hospital. I have also been peeing constantly (roughly every 15-30) mins so my sleep schedule is pretty messed up. My husband has been a great help. My apartment is on the 3rd floor and I had to climb 3 flights of stairs and had everyone worried, but it didn't even bother me because I was so focused on getting in the house before having an accident lol. I am able to go back to eating what I was eating on the liquid diet besides the Protein shakes starting the day after surgery. I missed my sugar-free popsicles today. How is everyone else recovering?

  16. I just had surgery less than 24 hours ago and I've been going pretty much every 15-30 mins. Even after I got discharged, I made sure I peed before we left the hospital. We live over an hour away from the hospital and I had to stop to pee less than halfway into the drive. By the time we were 15 mins away from home I had to go again but I held it until we got home. Our apartment is on the third floor. Everyone was worried about me going up 3 flights of stairs but I had no trouble at all because I was so focused on making it to the bathroom before I had an accident
