@@OKCPirate we was on that vape bandwagon a couple years ago. For some odd reason all I taste is metal when I vape. I had cheap vape and very high end vape different tips different tanks and coils, pre made and handmade. But I can't shake that metal taste. My father who smoked 3-4 packs a day for God only knows how many years started vape around the same time and has not had a cigarette since! Most of my friends who vape went back to smoking as well but that small handful still vape. I think it's just to much for me at one time. I know I will quit before surgery. I just need to adjust to the food lifestyle first. As I mentioned in another post... I don't want an issue coming off the ventilator or healing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@justhere4theshow he actually came up with a great idea yesterday. Keep an empty pack and only put a certain amount in and have hubby hide the fuller pack. And also as suggested by another quitter on Instagram, decrease every 3 days. The sugar withdrawal is killing me I didn't really leave my bedroom much yesterday. Here I am at 6:22am been awake for over an hour already because I felt nauseous. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Just got home from my first NUT appointment. I found out that I will not be doing a liquid PREOP diet until night before surgery. They just want me to change my eating and no pre set amount of weight to lose. As long as I don't gain weight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. For a couple of years now I have heard from my aunts that I should get WLS and just save up for it blah blah blah. Well, here I am now starting the process! I called one of my aunts today, it's been quite some time since I have spoken to her. And near the ending of our convo, I told her I met with a weight loss surgeon and looking like after Christmas I most likely would have surgery. I got a really long pause, so long that I thought the call dropped. She finally responded "why would you do that? Just stop eating." OMG! WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT BEFORE!? ITS SO SIMPLE! JUST STOP EATING! Guess what everyone?! If you don't eat, we won't be fat anymore! Now I remember why I don't talk to my family members that often. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to stuff my face. Before you get all excited, I have not started pre-op diet yet. I know food funerals are bad. I have no excuse. I just want to eat stuff I may never have again. Ps. The auto correct for PREOP on iPhone is Oreos. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@KristenLe thank you for always being a voice of reason. Yesterday the NUT was very adamant about the coffee thing. No cream no sugar not even stevia! As I was leaving I mentioned that I would also be starting the patch. She said you sure you wanna do that right now? I said yeah! She pursed her lips, raised her eyebrows and said as long as you don't gain weight. I may try another patch later today. The kiddo is just worried that I may flip out lol I'll post here if I do. @@leebick that's not so bad. From time to time we DO order an app and dessert. But the three of us share. And since hubby has been dieting (5months now) me and the kiddo skip the dessert. We don't want to be tempting him with stuff we know he shouldn't have. At home it's easier to not have those things in front of him. Hubby is not going for surgery. @@leebick it's great that your girl understood that being on liquids is hard and being around solids can be very hard! God bless them both for being supportive! I'm very thankful that my guy is on board and the kid. I didn't eat anything today until after my NUT appointment. I'm lucky I do not have any real restrictions. Just healthier eating. I am not allowed my candy bars, cakes chips etc. I swear I eat worst than a kid. I felt stupid sitting there and her telling me better choices. Mainly because I had never heard of a few of the things she mentioned. But I sucked it up and asked. Thankfully she didn't laugh at me. She advised me to prepare certain items in advance (boiled eggs, steel cut oats etc) which makes sense. Cause then I can just grab and go. After the appointment we headed to the market and man... Healthy eating is expensive. A box of captain crunch is 3-4 bucks. Steel cut oats $6.99 but. It's my health so it's worth it. Man I'm gonna miss late night throwback tv shows and the captain. @@Sumaire I once had a food hangover, Christmas 2014.... I come from a culture where if you don't eat... The person feels disrespected. I had to actually have an allergic reaction in front of them so they could understand that I can't eat shrimp. (I'll explain) Walked into friends house filled with guests New Year's Eve. She brought me a shrimp cocktail. I told her, no thank you, I can't eat shrimp or any seafood really. I'm allergic. 20 minutes later, she hands me a cracker with God knows what on it. When she turned away, I placed it in a napkin and tossed it. Her mom decided to literally shove a cracker with crap on it in my mouth yelling at me that I have not eaten anything at the party. My mouth began to tingle I could feel my throat closing up... I asked... Was that seafood dip? She said yes... I said, ok, now take me to the emergency room because I need a shot. She didn't believe me till my lips started swelling. My husband glanced over, ran to me and took me to the ER. they never offered me seafood again Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Oh yeah, I have plenty of insane family members. I'm not letting them get to me. The only people who's opinion matter, live with me. And they are supporting me 100% which I am very thankful for. I have a laundry list of reasons to go through with surgery and wouldn't you know... Not one of the reasons is to please my moronic aunts. Oh update on me stuffing my face, I ended up having a slice of plain pizza (I don't like toppings) and coke. Fair well pizza and coke! My first NUT appointment is tomorrow (well today cause it's 1:26am) and I'm rather excited. Also I will be starting nicotine Patches today! Oh boy... Sure hope I don't hurt someone. It's been a crazy month around here can't wait for September to end. (Cue Greenday) Anyway, I don't know what the actual definition of a food funeral is. I don't know if it's an act of binge eating a certain food and giving it up or??? My food funerals so far have consisted of me saying well I may never eat pizza again so here's my last ever slice. I also said goodbye to cheesecake as of yesterday. And just had my very last Hershey bar with almonds. Idk what the NUT is going to tell me tomorrow, but what ever instructions she has, I will follow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. I seriously hope he is just uneducated on this process. That's an issue that can be fixed. But if he's just a spoiled millennial, then I would rather talk to the landlord, explain the situation and MAYBE just maybe they can transfer the lease into his name. Oh btw you can't be running after HIS responsibility immediately after surgery... The same way he found you and moved in, he can find someone else. And no you wouldn't be selfish. It's self maintenance. You are about to go through a life changing experience. You need people that will support you and motivate you. I had a c section and my then husband thought Disneyland would be a great idea 2 weeks out.... I ended up popping stitches and lost a staple, ended up with an infection. That was just having a kid! This is taking away a good part of your stomach. I wouldn't go to the event with him. Heat, smells after surgery blah. Again I really hope it's just him not knowing the process. I agree that maybe he should watch a YouTube video of the procedure. Wishing you luck and sending you hugs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  20. I personally am glad that @@LipstickLady is concerned. I'am learning so much from her (and her pointing out others mistakes) never mind not losing weight, how about you could make your insides explode!? I know I don't want that to happen to me. This app helps me understand what to expect and how to deal with it. We as newbies do not need enablers. Obviously we had those and it lead us to being this over weight. We need vets that can and will tell us we effed up and what can and will happen if we do it again. Yeah sure, some peoples plans are different but it's the same basic rules. If your fresh out... Don't eat normal food. I do have a plan for the future, if I'm not sure I should/can eat it. I won't. Until I talk to the doc or nut. I'd much rather have professional input or at least hear from someone that's been in my spot, than throw caution to the wind and wind up sick or worst... Back in the operating room. So I say thank you to all the "outspoken" vets. I pray you never have to type in all caps to me Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I was totally expecting the surgeon to say STOP SMOKING!!! When I asked him so, how long do I have to be nicotine free? He said it wasn't part of my insurance requirements for sleeve. He did say obviously it's better for you to quit, but if you at least cut back that would be great. I recently went to see my PcP and had her prescribe the Patches for me (insurance covers them fully) I will be starting those tomorrow. Even though doc says it's okay to smoke... 24. I have not had surgery yet. I have not even had my first nutritionist meeting yet. But I can tell you that you have to decide what is more important to you. Maybe sociable drinking is very important to some people I have friends that cannot function in a group setting unless there's booze. I personally don't drink very often. By the way congrats on losing weight on your own! If you don't have any other serious health issues and you have come this far with losing that much weight on your own, and you strongly feel that you have the discipline to follow through with this and keep the weight off then by all means please do so. I myself am 37 years old, 348 pounds I have severe arthritis in both my knees and an issue with my back that we cannot figure out what it is because I can't have an MRI. I have tried and failed to many times so for me, this surgery will save my life, my joints, and maybe even my social life because I don't want to leave my house anymore. It's too painful to walk around. It's better that you realize now rather than later and regretting it. Because this cannot be undone. I wish you luck in whatever decision you make.
