    Ice Cream horror

Thanks Girls I will try the frozen applesauce thing. I threw out my ice cream again. Hopefully this time, I won't buy anymore. Sandy beach if you hang in there I bet the exercising will pay off.
  2. Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found this thread. I lost 80 pounds from presurgery weight until today. 50 lbs since surgery on 1/28. I've been suffering with pain all along. I have pain in my chest when I eat so I regurgitate it. Someone said it is surgical bulemia and that's what I have too. Never been able to find "the sweet spot" . So I've taken to eating "sliders" like ice cream, creamy soups, cookies, choctoalte. they all slide down. But my weight loss is at a plateau for the last 2 months since I am eating more sliders. It started out innocent, some ice cream to soothe my esophogus after regurgitating the food up. Now the ice cream is a full blown addiction. I don't know what to do. I have not reached my goal weight and am very distressed because of what I'm doing. Does anyone have the same problems and what do you think would help me. I hate exercising and have to push myself, if I even do it. Help!!!! Thanks.

    One year update

Hi everyone, It sound like everyone is doing great. The weight loss numbers I've seen for 1 year are amazing. My bandiversity is 1/28/09. I've lose 80 pounds but it's hard for me to enjoy it. I've reached a plateau because of "sliders" so I have to work on this. Anyway, I know it was hard work so keep up the good work in the coming year.

Gonna break down and get an UNfill...

Hey everyone, I can take down liquids with no problem. The problem is that I can feast or famine. Sometimes the restriction is so bad that I have to stop eating right away. Sometimes I can keep eating without getting full. Of course, I try to take the smjallest morsels of food on my fork when I can eat and chew chew chew. I think I might not be chewing that first bite so good or taking to big a bite because I forget about the band for a moment in my huntger and the way I'm used to eating. Anyway, I see my doctor tomorrow and hopefully he can help and figure out what's best for me, a fill or an unfill. I'll let you know. Hang in there everyone.
  6. I am embarrassed but have to ask. Has anyone been experiencing the gas down under? I'm not talking about the gas right after surgery either. I don't think it's what I'm eating and obviously real concerned and embarrassed about this. Someone told me that she's heard this with gastric bypass patients, and that people take something that really helps control the gas. Anyone there who can help. Thanks

  8. I took 2 gas x strips today before a jazzercise class. Thank god it worked. The fun ny thing is someone else let it rip and noone turned or looked around. Just ignored it. But believe me it was so on my mind. My mother takes beano for gas and swears by it. I'll have to try it.

    January 2008 Bandsters

Just figured I'd check in. Since my 5th fill there has been some bad restriction and then some eating binges (2 slices of pizza) and I mean that seriously. I don't think I should be able to eat that much. Maybe I need another fill. This is frustrating this journey that we're on.

    Feeling Full?!

Alice I'm having similar things going on. I happened to see my doctor tonight at a monthly support group and told him I have to eat real slow to keep food down, but tht I don't feel full (just tired from chewing and cold food) and that 2 hours later I could eat He said sounds like I need a fill. Just figured I share because it is a learning curve and a journey . I hear even if you find a good spot, that when you lose weight, you lose inside the band also and have to start over with more fills. So it is a jouney, so what I have to do is hang in there. It can be tough for me I get frustrated so easy. oh well

    so depressed need help~

hang in there it really does get better, or maybe different it took me 6 fills to get some restriction and I think I need another one. what you're going through they call "bandster hell" and everyone experiences it until they start on their journey of fills. Then everyone reacts differently and have to make adjustments in the amount of fluid in the band to get more or less restriction. Don't be so hard on yourself, I ate too much also while I was in bandster hell. I am counting calories still to help me stay in control. And exercise really does help.
  12. Guilty as charged. But let me ask you this, how often do thin people way themselves to keep on track. If you want to be thin, think like the thin do

    unfill or?

Hi Girls My doctor showed up at the monthly support group today and of course I ran over to him to tell him what's going on. When I told him I could eat 2 slices of pizza , not be full for 4 hours like others, and the restriction has lessened with eating morsels on the fork (really morsels, like rabbit food) he seems to think I need a fill. Will talk with him further at appointment next Tuesday. It's been 3 weeks since my last fill and it's taken me this long to see how my body reacts. Wow this is a real task finding the right spot.

Gonna break down and get an UNfill...

Since my last fill 4/2 I'm HAVING the same problem, well was. I was too restricted and was thinking about an unfil. Then I started loosening up the past few days, eating over 1500 calories a day. Now I think I need a fill, I'm getting used to eating morsels on my fork but today I was able to eat a deli tuna on a bagel for lunch and ate the whole thing. This is scary. It's so hard to get to the exact spot but I think the longer you wait after a full the better you can decide what to do.

    unfill or?

ImaKaren4U Thanks for the support. I don't have a doctor's appointment until about 10 more days. I'll ask the doctor about an unfil. I've been thinking I might need a fill though because when I'm okay with eating (no pb or chest pain) I can really eat. I don't get full for 4 hours and I can eat more than a cup of food. Yesterday I ate 2 regular slices of pizza. So I feel stuck - which way do I go??? Anyone else with this problem??????

How Much Protein is too much?

Berrypatches I'm with you. I'm drinkign Isopure to subssidize my protein. I wish I could get more protein in with food. But my question is also yours. Can anybody help with this. Is 40 grams of Protein drink too much at a time. My doctor never mentioned this to me. Have others heard this
  17. I had moderate acid reflux before surgery and was on medicaton. Now I'm not sure if its reflux or restriction. I get terrible pain in my chest but usually after I eat too fast or take too big bites of food. Then I need to purposely regurgitate to get the food up so the pain in my chest disappers. Idon't think this is normal, I don't know what to make of this. I also find I'm rechewing food that almost goes down to make it smaller bites. Does anyone else do this? Is it reflux??? or too much restriction. A All help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone

    unfill or?

It's unfortunate that we all have to go through the frustration of getting to the right fill spot. I'm there now. I have a lot of chest pain since my last fill and problems with eating too much or too little. Thank god I can swallow liquids. That sounds like too much even for me because I too am scared to get an unfill for fear of gaining weight before I get to the right spot. But, most of the time I can't eat and throw up and then I get really hungary because my body didn't get any food or nutrition. Does anyone else go through this cycle, I dont feel full because I'm not keeping food down. I'm so busy with this cycle that I forget to take my protein drinks for that extra needed protein. I'm thinking about an unfill, any suggestions would be helpful.
  19. Hi Phyl

I don't know how I got this far but here I am. I am terrible with computers. It was nice you sent me that message. I only hope I'll be able to retreive messages now. Anyways, I hope you have a great dayand should see you tonight online.

  20. My husband, mother, sister and 2 close friends know. I wouldn't tell my Dad for fear of his responses. So when I recently went to visit my parents for a couple of days right after a fill, I told my Dad I was on a liquid diet to lose weight and he was supportive and helped me find Isopures in Florida. A little white lie won't hurt. I also like tapshoes response. I don't want anyone watching how much or what I am eating and definitely don't want their negative comments.

    chest pain? Gas or full?

Some people have restriction right after surgy and others need fills. I don't know if it's gas but I would ask the doctor. I was banded on 1/28/08 and has such bad gas that I had to go the ER to have my heart checked as per my bariatric doctor's orders. It eventually subsided after 2-3 weeks. I've got it again now. It started after my 4th fill and the chest pain got so bad after my 5th fill which was a week ago. They say that sometimes it get's better in 2-3 weeks after the swelling goes down after the fill. If it doesn't get better, i guess I'll have to ask for a little unfil. But mind you it would only be a little because I'm losing weight. It's hard to keep down food and I regurgitate it up. I'm also watching my calories and exercising. Go figure. LOL

Kcintz Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! Your definitely doing the right things. I'm sure you worked hard to lose the weight. Keep it up. I'm actually trying to break the 200lb mark. It's been about 10 years. I'm at 206lbs from 249. I haven't been able to see my feet in the shower for a long time. LOL Anyway you should be very proud. I know this is not an easy feat and I struggle with it daily. Right now, I'm having trouble keeping food down, but it's going to get better. Keep in touch

    PBing vs. Vomiting

CarolB I know it can be very frustrating. Do you think you need a fill. I understand from others that if you're filled properly you're not hungary. I know what it is to be hungary. Hang in there and good luck, don't be so hard on yourself. We all go through this
