I heard the skin surgery is HORRIBLE. I'm hoping to avoid it, but I'm sure I will have to consider it eventually Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Would you do it again?

Yes, without hesitation. I had a very positive experience with the surgery and recovery process, with minimal pain and discomfort. I never actually threw up during it. The only time that I ever did due to the sleeve was when I thoughtlessly guzzled Water after eating something spicier than I expected just a couple of months out. I got a stomach bug in December, but recovered more quickly than my husband who is the epitome of health and has never had WLS. I also teach and had the surgery in the summer to have more time for recovery. I had the VSG on 8/18/15 and was teaching a full load plus advising a month later (I'm a professor). None of the fears I had prior to surgery actually happened to me during the past year. No complications, no loose skin, no major hair loss, no feelings of deprivation with food. My blood pressure had been on the high end of normal last year while on a medication for PCOS that lowers your bp, and is on the low end of normal and I haven't taken that medicine in 8 months. I reached my goal weight and feel fabulous. This will hopefully be something that will change your life for the better as well. Go for it! I hope this isn't too personal of a question, but I was wondering how much you have lost. I need to lose at least 130lbs, and I am concerned about extra skin. Thank you for your response. I was on meds for PCOS a few years ago,but then, suddenly they decided I "didn't have it anymore" I don't get that I'm praying the surgery/weight loss solves my bp, arthritis, cholesterol problems. Congratulations! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Call your insurance company and ask them to send you all the requirements for weight loss surgery....each insurance is different but there may be a requirement for a supervised weight loss program...usually either 3 or 6 months.....but call them and ask for the policy so you know exactly what you need to do in order to qualify. I will tomorrow. I thought that's what the corrfinator did since she told me we couldn't start anything until 3 months before surgery. But I'll find out tom. What is the paperwork? I hear everyone talk about it. I spoke to the coordinator at the hosp, she called my ins co and they said its covered, just a 150 a day co-pay for the hospital. Is approval the "paperwork"? Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Did you have the sleeve? Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App Not yet! I'm getting my paperwork in order still. I just used to be terrified of vomiting so I was commiserating. It happened about 10 times after my last surgery and I overcame my phobia. It's really not as bad as you're remembering. I REALLY HOPE NOT! Lol. Good luck with everything!!!! Buddy...anyone?

I can relate a little bit. I am afraid to tell my sister and best friend that I am having the surgery. I don't think I am even going to. They will both be extremely negative and talk"down" to me. I am going to have enough stress when I have my surgery without worrying about other people. Afterall, it's about "us", not "them" Good luck!!! And keep working hard FOR YOU!!!!
