Hello All! My name is Alexandria, I'm switching from the band to the sleeve. I have the band in 2013 was unsuccessful made me become so depressed that I got fed up with it. I swear I had tried everything underneath the sun yo make this work. Fast forward: TODAY!! I had my band removed and in three months I will be going for the sleeve. I am nervous and excited I can't wait to fall back in love with myself all over again. If anyone has any advice on how to be as successful as possible with the band and ways to improve eating habits, work outs, basically any I'm open for any and all suggestions and advice Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. Hello everyone, so I am going to try to make a long story short. Almost three years ago I went for the lap band surgery, I was 19 years old struggled severely with my weight since I was eight. I went through puberty at a very very early age, was gaining weight quicker then I would ever be able to lose it. By the time I was in high school I weighed 225lbs and couldn't shake it in five years. I had terrible uncontrollable asthma and sleep apnea and at risk for diabetes. I have diabetes and high blood pressure runs in my family, my family doctor recommended me for the surgery. My surgery doctor recommended the band over sleeve as I was still young and said it would be better. After I got the band in Nov I lost 20 lbs off the bat, I was super hyped. Fast forward three years I never got under 200lbs. I did everything; weighed my food, made healthier choices, and most importantly worked out. I even got a personal trainer. I switched doctors, got a second opinion, spoke to a health coach, saw a nutritionist on many occasions. My fills were costing me so much money out of pocket. So now my new surgery doctor whom I've been seeing for over a year and knows my many personal struggles is recommending me for the sleeve. My father very recently passed away from living an unhealthy life, it still hurts me now but most importantly, it changed my outlook as I don't want to go down that same path I want to be healthy. I know many people who have gotten both the band and sleeve both people had fantastic results, except for me. It's becoming very discouraging and heartbreaking for me to put my body through such for this. I'm not asking for feedback on how to improve for my band, as I had already made my decision to remove it. But more so feedback from those who have gone through or who are going through similar events. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello all, I'm new to the site and trying to hear about stories similar to one that I'm in. I had the band in 2013 and hasn't worked for me at all, even switched doctors which ended up costing me a lot of time and money, now I'm trying to switch to sleeve, she's telling me I have to wait six but I believe it's three. After you removed you sleeve had your surgeon made you wait until sleeve or did it all at once? If it was all at once, how was the recovery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
