lindave got a reaction from utahgirll in anyone else here had surgery more than 10 years ago?
HI there, I had my surgery july 2001. I was 290, went down to 160, stayed there (plus maybe 10 lbs if I ate too much), but held steady for about 10 years, then on the fifth year, I started little by little to gain weight. I am now up to 230. I saw a doctor today about a revision. He would do it, but said there are lots of complications and the weight loss isn't that great, like only 30 lbs?! I am soooooo frustrated. I read other folks getting the revision and losing 100 lbs!!

I could eat a small slice of pizza, but unfortunately they only sell the Brooklyn pies (fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, plum tomatoes) as a whole pie. I guess I could buy the whole thing, eat a slice, and then freeze the rest. Hmmm...

To be honest, I did have regrets the first few months. I was pretty sick (turned out to be a stricture) and while I felt better after they fixed that, I was fairly nauseated for 6 months. (Zofran was my friend.) The Constipation is still a struggle at almost 14 months post-op. There were times (maybe still are) when I worry what it will be like when I am 80 and still trying to make sure I am getting my Protein first, but when I expressed that to my counselor she said "you likely wouldn't have made it to 80 in your prior state of health". True. Hadn't thought of it that way. Anyway, at 150 pounds down now, I am SO glad I did it and only wish I had done it sooner.

I have one huge regret...that I didn't do it sooner.

@@Slim2016 I would strictly follow your surgeon's instructions. You had major surgery and there's guidelines for a reason.

    Hi,
Im new here but had the mgb in 2001. I originally lost about 125 pounds and have gained back alot of weight, mostly over the last 3-4 years.
I was hoping to find some others here who have had the surgery a while back. I have a few issues I would like to ask some questions about.
My Iron count is at 5 which is dangerously low and I have yet to find an Iron supplement that I absorb. I just found the iron patch and will receive it this week. I'm hoping it works and that I don't have to have the iron infusion.
I really would like to lose the weight again but have found it extremely difficult to lose anything I still can not eat very much, Im going to try the Unjury Protein I just saw on here. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.
    Thanks
    Dawn
