How have your taste buds changed?

I am 7 weeks post op today. Doing great. Never had pain or the gas pains...so lucky. I will say my tastebuds have changed. Post surgery I liked Unsweet tea, now does not really have any taste. I wanted to try coffee last week, does not taste good now. Loved lemonade before surgery, now Crystal Light taste different. Before surgery I drank at least two glasses a day. About 529 weeks after surgery I finally was able to drink orange gatorade and it tasted so good. Have switched to the G2. It's better for me (does not taste as good). I drink about half a one a day. Diet Cranberry juice is good. My doctor told me that this was a possibility. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Best thing to do is only weigh once a week. You will continue to beat yourself up if you weigh every day. I know we are all excited and want to jump on the scale....my best advice don't. My surgery was 8/24/16 and I last weighed at post op appt at doctors office. Will weigh Sunday I think. My doctor told me not to weigh for at least two weeks. Taking his advice. Gained weight

I had my surgery on 8/24/16. It was a very easy process for me. No pain, no issues and do glad I did it. I was a one half self pay (Had hernia thank goodness haha). My doctor, Brad Marker Dothan AL is the best. He told me not to weigh for the first 2 to 3 weeks and I haven't. He said my body was still get adjusted and it might disappoint me. Don't get my wrong I have had the urge to weigh but decided to listen to him. I think I will weigh at the end of the week. I know I have lost cause my clothes are baggy. I have worn things I have not worn in 2 years (pants) so that's exciting. I did weigh at his office a week out from surgery and had lost 5 pounds. I have not really wanted much to eat. Only been hungry one time. Yay!! Protein shakes are my go to. Do not get discouraged. Just do what the doctor says. They know. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Would you do it again?

I am having surgery on 8/24. So excited. I do not like throwing up either. Keeping my fingers crossed. My best friend had it done on a Thursday, one night in hospital and was back at work the following Tuesday. I will not have to work for a week. My birthday is 3 days after my surgery. I am a self pay, well for half as I have hernia. Best gift ever. My first appointment was May 23 so in 3 months I am ready to go. I have not health issues. Just been over weight for ever. I can lose but can't keep it off but now I will. I have 50 to 60 pounds to lose. Will make a decision at 50 and decide. I can do this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. My surgery is 8/24. So pumped. My concern is that drain tube that I will have for a week. How gross is that? That is the only part I am not looking forward to. Have not concerns about pain, gas etc all that can be handled. Any advice on that? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. My BMI is 34 and I am scheduled for surgery on 8/24. So excited. Even though I am not extremely over weight, I have struggled my whole life. Went on first diet at age 14. I have no health issues except a hernia so I am a self pay for a little less than half. I am 53 and frankly just tired of "always" needing to be on a diet. I can lose the weight, keep it off for a while but it always creeps back on. I am doing this as a means to keep it off and not spend the rest of my life beating myself up. My surgeon told me twice "that I am going to be smokin hot" when I am to my goal weight. That made me feel great!! I started the 10 day shake diet today. I can so do this!!! I have my pre-op Tuesday. This will be the best thing I have ever done for myself. You are right, I only need to lose 50 to 60 pounds but it will be forever gone!!! I all ready exercise, eat pretty health but that never seemed to matter. Now it's going to be GONE!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
