  1. I only had a bit of nausea and it was due to the anesthesia and is an issue I've had (I've had an appendectomy, a C Section and 3 D&Cs since 2008) in the past. I had no nausea from the surgery or while moving through the stages. As for the pain it's tolerable. I was out of work for 2 weeks and I have a desk job. I had most issues at night trying to sleep and while in the hospital while my drain was in while in the hospital is was painful.
  2. I've lost a shoe size as well as being less in width. I was an 11 and now I'm comfortably wearing a 10. It was great until I realized I have to buy all new shoes.
  3. I have hemorrhoids from when I was pregnant that never fully went away. I have been having issues with them since surgery based on my irregular pooping schedule.
  4. My doctor said both are fine as tolerated. I've been using a straw since about 12 weeks post op with no issues and have been able to tolerate carbonation with no issue as of about 6 months post op. I drink seltzer and will occasionally have a diet Pepsi as a treat. I'm also 10 months post op and 10ish pounds from goal.
  5. I would for sure ask about a PPI because in my experience it did help. My surgeon had me stop taking it after my 9 month appointment because he says he doesn't like people on it long term. My hunger has increased a bit but I'm also further out from surgery so it may be actual hunger.
  6. 10 months post op HW: 301 CW: 188
  7. 3-4 days a week when life allows. I'm not super serious about the working out because chasing two kids around is a pretty good workout in itself as well but I try to go every other day.
  8. 10 months post op progress picture: HW- 301 (July 2016) SW- 271 (12/30/16) CW- 188 as of today. I'm bouncing between 185 and 188 5'10"
  9. You look great, congrats. Also it's nice to see another 48 fan around
  10. I think I was right around the 600-800 range at that point.
  11. Best of luck to you, it's not a easy journey but it's work every moment. I have to agree that finding a good support system is key. If you have a program that has a support group, go, even if you feel you don't need it. Also follow your plan and stick with it, even when it's hard. It's such a short period of time in the long run but it helps you make smart lifestyle changes. And finally don't be afraid to ask if you have questions or concerns.
  12. I agree that a PPI might be helpful. I was put on one in the early stages and I had very little hunger and when I did it was mild. My doctor took me off it at 9 months post op.
  13. Congrats you look outstanding, amazing job. I'm 10 months post op today and have been stalled for a month so to hear you stalled around this time as well makes it less frustrating.
  14. In terms of protein powder I couldn't do it. I tried so many different brands of "unflavored" powder and all I could taste was the powder. Some of the meals I ate during my pureed diet were: Refried Beans with Salsa and Cheese Blended turkey chili, I would sometime blend in some lowfat sour cream with it Tuna in the blender with a little mayo and some relish (if that's allowed on your plan) Cottage cheese with a fruit (I used baby food fruits) Cream Soups
  15. I drink mostly unsweetened tea now, I can drink water but it doesn't go down so easy and I start to get that nauseous feeling.
  16. My doctor said 6 weeks is the average time frame for healing but to baby it for 12 weeks. So no popcorn, nuts, seeds until 12 weeks or so. Anything that can cause an issue.
  17. I agree with Dehydration. It's hard to stay hydrated in the early days. You have to really work at drinking and walking, which will relieve a lot of the gas issues. The dizziness could also be due to low blood sugar or just a need to get more nutrition in.
  18. I can pretty much eat anything except eggs and they just make me have intestinal issues. I for sure get hungry still and I have to make sure I'm not snacking like crazy throughout the day. Otherwise, I'm glad I can eat what I want because I did this for a lifestyle change and didn't want to live on a "diet". Now I can make the choice not to eat something instead of my body telling me I absolutely cannot. 115 pounds down and I've found a new relationship with food.
  19. I had an ultrasound first and it came back normal results, per the radiologist they saw no stones but I was still having the pain. My surgeon said that ultrasounds are not the most conclusive and ordered the HIDA scan and that came back abnormal.
  20. Almost 10 months post op and no regrets. I did have some initially just when I was trying to get through the stages and I felt so different from the rest of the world. Now I wish I had done this 10 years ago, I'm currently 34 for reference. As for the diet type questions I basically live off of water and unsweetened iced tea but early out I drink a lot of crystal light. It started to turn my stomach though because I'm not a huge fan of artificial sweeteners so I went to iced tea. Also soft proteins on my plan were eggs, chicken, turkey and fish/shellfish
  21. Love Chili, especially this time of year. Started eating it on my pureed stage, would blend it up and I was good to go. I actually made a pot on Friday and have eaten it now Friday dinner, Sunday Dinner and lunch today.
  22. The only real issue I've found relating to jealousy is my best friend and it's not outward, it's something I can just read. She was always thin until about 19 and then she started to gain some weight and then she had her son when she was 27, put on a ton of weight during the pregnancy and then her son ended up in the NICU because he was premature and she has been stuck with the weight sense. When I made the decision to do this surgery she was not very fond of the idea and then when I started losing weight she started acting weird. She doesn't come around as much, when we are out in public she doesn't stand near me anymore and she makes little comments like calling me "Skinny" or "Slim" or saying things like "Oh didn't see you standing there you so small now". She never comes out to say anything directly but I know her and I know she's jealous.
  23. I had my surgery 5 days after Christmas so I actually started my pre-surgery liquid diet on Christmas. It was hard for sure because I had to remind myself not to cheat, even though technically I could. Because it was Christmas my NUT/Surgeon did allow me to eat a sensible dinner that day so I had my shakes from breakfast and lunch and then had turkey and veggies for dinner. I'm currently 10-15 pounds from goal depending on where I want to end up so I'm hoping I will be at goal or close to it by Christmas. I just have to stick to my 3 meals and a snack and not allow myself to graze all day because that's a big issue for me. Meal portions are small still but my sister and Mom eat like birds anyway so I will just be in their camp this year instead of the clear all my food and have seconds.
  24. Are you weighing yourself daily? My weight bounces around a lot so I only weigh weekly now. I'm almost 10 months out and I've been stalled for a month. I thought I lost 4 pounds but it turns out my scale was broken and it ended up dying. Stalls happen and they are frustrating but keep at the plan and get your fluids.
  25. I'm not a huge fan of Torrid but I shopped there because I liked it better than Lane Bryant and where I'm from those are pretty much the two options and I will not buy clothing online that I haven't bought in a store or tried on at lease in the past. That being said now that I'm in straight sizes I have found that American Eagle is my new favorite. I never would have thought to shop there before but I love the fit of their jeans on my new slimmer figure. So I say just branch out and try everything, you might find a new style that fits you as well. I also love to shop at Dress Barn and Ross Dress for Less or Marshalls.
