  1. Hey all... I am newly banded, and on puréed food. Since yesterday afternoon (around 5) ( last ate around 1:30pm) I have felt like I have something towards the top of my throat stuck. I also feel slightly swollen in my belly region. I was burping with nothing coming up, and am able to keep everything else down.. Liquids, my dinner puree. No pain. Just really annoying! Any ideas on what this could be? When I did try to get it up, nothing came up at all!
  2. Hey everyone! I'm three days in and and it is very frustrating being in this liquid phase. I'm so over it! I know I can't force anything, but I feel like I need to try different (mushies) foods. But it's a process and I have to wait I suppose. I'm wondering if anyone else felt very disconnected the first few days, new band, new diet, new cravings... Etc. My biggest concern is will I ever be able to enjoy "regular" food (of course in moderation) again? If I want chicken nuggets once every month- will I be able to? It seems like the "normal" foods we eat before banding are out of the question. Of course, I am well aware of healthier eating habits that I can and will adapt to. But the special times I want something like pizza, a half a burger, etc... I still want to enjoy. Sorry for an anxious post, just going through the motions and need support! First night banded... 14 hours in.

Thank you everyone for your support. Today the pain is almost gone! Now facing all the new challenges that arise. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Good evening everyone. I was banded at 8:00am EST. Everything was manageable until about one hour ago. The pain from the gas almost seems unmanageable. I'm not trying to scare any newbies, but I'm at a loss of what I should do. It just won't go away and my pain medicine will not touch it because it's not from a nerve type pain. Help! Very scared and sad right now. Sarah

    Need a buddy/mentor!

Hi Everyone! I previously introduced myself on other logs, but I guess ideally this is the place where this should take place! So, a little about me! I am Sarah, 26 years old, and from upstate New York. I am having my surgery in Westchester County, near NYC, tomorrow 8/4! I am a nurse, currently working with individuals with developmental disabilities. I was previously and EMT, ER nurse, as well as a CNA back in the day. My last weigh in at the Doctor was 218. My highest when I was starting pre-op was 227. My all time high last year was 233. My goal weight is between 130-140. I am 5'3'', so I believe that is obtainable. I have no children, but I have a long term boyfriend who has been by my side through all of this. I am looking for someone who is around my age, give or take 5 years or so, who knows the struggles of being a "young person" with busy lives and lots of fun! I also am a very picky eater, so someone who has a lot of great recipes would certainly help! I am pretty much open to anyone as long as there is a connection! I am excited to get to know you, and I fully support each one of you individually in your journeys.
  6. Hello everyone! Tomorrow is my big day- they moved my surgery forward one week. I am super excited and am definitely looking to find some support! I'm only at the beginning but realizing how important it is to have a strong support network. (Which I have, but their not banded) Anyway, I'm Sarah, I'm 26, and from New York! Dr. Dominick Artuso and Dr. Jonathan Arad are doing my surgery.

    Screwed up...

Hi Kbarbs, I commend you for being honest enough to come and admit fault. Just focus on the what, why and who you are now and going forward.
  9. Hello All! My name is Sarah, and I am so excited and nervous to be banded! I have done months of studying, discussing with doctors, etc, and finally had everything submitted to insurance. I was told 2 days ago everything was approved. I called my insurance to verify- and they are saying it is still in progress. The surgeons office just called me stating that they need me to call them to verify my 5% loss required by my insurance, because apparently it is appearing as though it was forged by my surgeons office! (It was NOT, and my PCP even signed off on it) I think its because I had previously submitted the same form and had it filled out incorrectly. Anyway, i'm going to Target tonight with a girlfriend to start getting things to prepare. Small cups, plate, etc. This insurance thing is really bothering me because I don't want them to deny it now! But, my surgeons office is saying that is the only thing they are waiting for- then i will officially have the approval note. AHHH, this is a lot of stress. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't looking forward to it! PS- please introduce yourself, I'm looking for band buddies. Also, where can I get a ticker?! Love & Peace, Sarah
